My abdomen was stabbed three times, yet my boyfriend protected his ex-girlfriend. Later, I found someone who was all about me, but he knelt on the ground saying he did nothing wrong. All I could do was give him the middle finger and say, "You're not wrong? You and your worthless ex-girlfriend can wallow in your mess together, screw you!"

Chapter 1

1

I was stabbed three times in the abdomen.

My boyfriend, Kyson Marshall, however, chose to protect his ex-girlfriend. He, a student from the police academy, told me that everything was for the people.

And that was why he shielded his ex-girlfriend, Zoe Barrett.

So later, I found someone who put me first in everything. Yet, Kyson knelt on the ground, insisting he wasn't wrong.

All I could do was flip him off. "You're right. You and your trashy ex-girlfriend can go rot together. Screw you!"

"Georgia Curtis, I had nowhere else to go. Kyson said he'd take me out to relax. I didn't mean to disturb you. I'm so sorry."

Kyson showed up half an hour late, bringing along this... bitch.

I smiled at him and asked, "Kyson, do you remember what you said yesterday? Tell me, what exactly is going through your head?"

Kyson's face darkened as he grabbed my hand and said, "Don't be unreasonable. Even if I had something with her in the past, we're not together now. She's just an innocent woman from next door. It's only right for me to look after her."

"An innocent woman? The one you've had sex with? Tell me, how many times have you stood me up because of her?"

"There were reasons for those! Stop overreacting!"

I pulled my hand away and wiped it with a tissue.

"This is the last time." After this, I would break up with him. I couldn't stand it anymore.

Kyson, however, thought I was compromising again. He cheerfully called Zoe over. He took the bag for her, but pretended not to see the bag on me.

"Sir, buy a flower for the lady in the white dress. You need to make your girlfriend happy."

2

Standing there in my black pants, I felt like a complete joke.

Looking at Kyson who was supporting Zoe all the time, he was so nervous as if he was supporting his pregnant wife.

"No, no, she's not my girlfriend. That woman is." Kyson stammered nervously, finally acknowledging my existence as he glanced at me.

"Oh, I'm just his sister. You are wrong." Zoe said sweetly.

The little girl selling flowers looked at me, then at Kyson and Zoe.

"How strange. Some people are just meant to be alone forever..."

3

"Don't move!"

I felt the cold blade of a knife press against my side. My mind went blank, as if a snake had coiled around it, filling me with dread.

I froze, desperately looking to Kyson for help, only to see Zoe being held hostage as well. Kyson immediately rushed to save her, grappling with the attacker.

"Kyson! Kyson!"

"Georgia, wait for me! I'll save you in a moment."

I laughed bitterly. I never wanted to hear "wait for me" or "in a moment."

"Stay still, you damn woman! You all look down on me, don't you? You don't listen to me."

Sensing the attacker's growing agitation, I stayed still, silently praying that the emergency call I managed to make while shouting for Kyson would work.

But clearly, Zoe wasn't about to let me off the hook.

She screamed at me, "Georgia, please don't call the police! If they come, it'll only make things worse. I don't want to die!"

Hearing this, Kyson turned to glare at me with bloodshot eyes, silently blaming me before turning back to fight the man holding Zoe.

In that instant, the attacker behind me snapped.

The sharp knife moved to my front, stabbing me three times in quick succession. His hand clamped over my mouth, muffling any cries for help.

I couldn't even make a sound to cry for help. I was thrown on the ground like a rag doll, blood pouring out of me.

Watching Kyson so intently protect Zoe, I suddenly remembered Zoe's plea not to call the police.

She didn't want the police involved because she had someone to protect her. She could survive without it. I couldn't.

Even when I could call for help, my boyfriend's only response was to tell me to wait.

4

I heard the sound of police sirens.

Kyson held Zoe in his arms, soaking up everyone's admiration like a hero.

Then a man stepped out of the police car.

He came down and saw Kyson holding Zoe, and punched him directly.

It was my brother, Stevie Curtis.

Stevie was here!

"Kyson, what the hell are you doing holding your ex-girlfriend? Have you no decency at all? Where's Georgia? Don't tell me you've spent all this time protecting your ex while my sister is bleeding out!"

Hearing the crowd's murmurs, Kyson finally seemed to remember I existed.

His face turned pale in an instant.

"No, no, I was trying to save her! I told her to wait."

The little girl selling flowers suddenly pointed at me and screamed, "That lady is bleeding so much! So much blood!"

In that moment, I saw Kyson's face filled with disbelief and regret.

I looked at Stevie. "Stevie... Stevie... It hurts so much. Stevie, please... please save me."

Stevie's eyes turned red.

Several police officers, their eyes also misty, rushed over with a stretcher. As they moved me, the bleeding worsened.

Stevie clenched his fists and carefully lifted me onto the stretcher himself.

Tears streamed down my face as I looked at him. "Stevie, it hurts so much..."

His eyes squeezed shut as if he couldn't bear to look. Then he turned and punched Kyson in the stomach.

Zoe tried to intervene, her voice soft and pitiful, but Stevie slapped her across the face. "I don't hit women, but I'll make an exception for a shameless bitch like you. You shameless idiot! Seducing someone else's boyfriend. Is that what your family taught you?"

Kyson clutched his stomach but still tried to shield Zoe.

"Stevie, don't drag her into this."

"Don't call me! Drag her into this? You brought your ex-girlfriend to meet my sister, got her caught up in a violent attack, and you protected your ex-girlfriend and let my sister get hurt and bleed? You are so shameless!"

Kyson gasped, shaking his head furiously.

"No, Georgia is my girlfriend. As a future police officer, I have to protect the public. I wasn't wrong. Stevie, isn't it right to prioritize the public?"

Stevie, about to follow the ambulance to the hospital, sneered at his words.

"The public? There are plenty of people here. Why is it you only protected your ex-girlfriend? Why didn't you care about anyone else? Being your girlfriend is the worst misfortune anyone could have."

The crowd, many of whom were injured, glared at Kyson with red eyes, shouting, "Trash!"

Because he was the only one capable of fighting back, yet he only protected his ex-girlfriend, even stopping anyone from calling the police out of fear the attacker might hurt Zoe.

What a joke!

5

I woke up two days later.

Sitting by my hospital bed were Stevie and my parents, looking exhausted, as if they'd just come from the police station.

"Dad, Mom, Stevie..."

Stevie was the first to react, his eyes red as he grabbed my hand.

"You finally woke up! You scared us half to death. What were you even thinking, being with that Kyson guy? If I hadn't shown up, you'd have been long gone by the time he noticed."

Mom nudged him, and he immediately shut up.

"Georgia, you frightened us this time. Seeing you lying there in a pool of blood..."

I held Mom's hand tightly, just like when I was little and she'd comfort me to sleep.

"I hate him so much. Kyson is nothing but trash. How dare he treat me like this? Stevie, do you know? When the knife was first pressed against my back, I called out to him for help. He told me to wait.

Zoe told me not to call the police. It was only after the attacker noticed I had called that he stabbed me three times in the abdomen."

Stevie kept his head down, fumbling with the buttons on his shirt, not sparing me a glance.

"I stopped this idiot. He should be outside the ward. Do you want to see him?"

I shook my head, my gaze fixed on the corner of the doorway where a piece of fabric peeked out. "I hate him. These three stab wounds are enough for me to remember him for a lifetime."

6

Zoe came to visit while Stevie and parents were at work, during my recovery period.

She was completely unscathed, her lips painted a bright orange as she said, "Thank you. If you hadn't taken those three stabs, I might've been the one getting hurt. But, Georgia, can't you see it yet? Kyson has always loved me. He was only with you because he was lonely.

The one who is not loved is the third party. Kyson always protects me. No matter what he is doing, he will come as soon as I call him, right?"

Ever since Zoe came back, in less than half a month, Kyson had stood me up five times. Every single time, Zoe was involved.

I was never Kyson's first choice. It was disgusting.

I remembered the time Kyson came home with me to meet my parents.

Everything was going so well until he got a phone call. Without a word of explanation, he left the dining table at my parents' house.

I overheard Zoe on the other end, saying she'd cut her hand. Kyson simply replied, "Wait for me."

It was so funny, why was the tone he used when he told others to wait for me different from the tone he used when he talked to me?

What kind of "heroic duty" required someone to abandon their girlfriend at her parents' dinner table over a minor cut?

I glanced at my phone, which I had already set to record.

"Zoe, if you love Kyson so much, why did you break up with him? Do you enjoy stealing other people's boyfriends?"

Zoe ran her fingers over her manicured nails and chuckled.

"Of course, I am tired of him. Kyson has no money and no power, but he loves me. Look, he still loves me when I come back from playing. It's quite fun. See? Even though he's your boyfriend, he still saved me."

I nodded, my expression calm.

"Well, you two are a perfect match. A selfish man and a shameless woman. One loves stealing other people's partners, and the other claims he's just 'helping others in need.'"

7

I pressed the call button, and a nurse quickly arrived.

"Excuse me, could you please escort this mistress out? I didn't cause any trouble to her, but she came to show off to me."

The nurse immediately moved to kick Zoe out, but Zoe shouted, "I'm from the VIP ward! Be careful, or I'll file a complaint against you!"

The nurse's expression turned even more peculiar.

After all, the private VIP ward was being paid for by me.

"Get her out!" I demanded.

8

The moment the door shut behind her, I felt a wave of relief wash over me.

I picked up my phone and called Stevie, instructing him to cancel the VIP ward card.

He sounded puzzled. "What happened?"

"Kyson put Zoe in there, completely unharmed, and he's been charging it to my card. Zoe even came to brag about it just now."

There was a brief silence on the other end of the line before Stevie replied, "I've never seen anyone so shameless. I'll take care of it right away."

"Okay. By the way, I feel like having chicken soup tonight."

"Alright, alright. You're putting your brother to work, huh?"

"Of course! You're Stevie, my big brother!"

9

After Zoe was kicked out, Kyson finally had the nerve to call me.

But I had already blocked him, so he resorted to sending me text after text, switching to a new number each time.

One of his messages read, "Georgia, it's all my fault. But I wasn't wrong to protect others in need, was I? Why are you blaming Zoe and kicking her out?

She's not in a good place mentally. Please, be reasonable. I'm apologizing to you, okay? Let her back in."

I replied, "If you care so much about your ex-girlfriend, then use your own money to comfort her. This is my money. What gives you the right to spend it?

And you still think you're not in the wrong? There are plenty of homeless people on the streets. Why don't you go care for them too? You're unbelievable, you selfish man!"

There were always idiots who asked me to be considerate. I wouldn't stop scolding them until they die.

10

On the day I was discharged, Kyson showed up.

I knew he'd been lingering around the hospital, trying to see me.

But he was beaten back by Stevie every time. Instead, Kyson had been busy arranging a place for Zoe to stay. He still wanted to use my money.

I was sitting in a wheelchair, with Stevie holding my finger from behind, fearing that I would end up in jail for hurting Kyson.

Kyson looked at me nervously, his eyes filled with regret and fear.

"Georgia, I'm sorry. I didn't think you'd get hurt so badly. I was wrong... I originally wanted to leave Zoe there to save you, but the attacker kept targeting Zoe, so I couldn't do anything.

I thought you were my girlfriend, and Zoe had nothing. I figured it was my responsibility to take care of her. I never meant for you to get hurt."

I looked down at Kyson, my hand brushing over the scars on my abdomen.

"I was stabbed three times in the abdomen and almost died. You said you had no choice but to protect Zoe, but you could only watch me being held hostage and stabbed by the criminals.

What did I do to deserve being your girlfriend? Do you even deserve me? Do you have any shame?"

Kyson stammered, "I didn't mean it. I was wrong...

Can you forgive me?"

11

"Never. We're done. Stop ruining my life."

Kyson's face turned ashen, his body trembling.

"You really can't forgive me? I was just trying to save someone...

I made a mistake, I know..."

Behind me, Stevie pointed to a beggar on the street. There was a woman missing a leg and half her face disfigured.

"Look at her. Isn't she even more pitiful? Why don't you hold her at night, comfort her, and find her a place to live? Why not take care of her for the rest of her life?"

Kyson's eyes were red and he said nothing.

"What? Can't you do that? Isn't she part of 'others in need' too? Why don't you treat everyone equally? I'm a man too, I know what you're thinking, so don't be disgusting.

And have you forgotten how your mother was abandoned by your father? He kept a mistress before they were even married, driving your mom into depression. How are you any different from him now? Guess being selfish runs in your family."

Kyson clenched his fists, shaking his head. "No, that's not true. It's not like that..."

I glanced at the figure hiding behind a tree, dressed in white.

"Zoe, come out. Take your mess and get out of my sight."

Zoe rushed out and dropped to her knees in front of my wheelchair.

"Georgia, please don't blame Kyson. It's my fault. I'm the shameless one who clung to him. If you want to take back the house and kick me out of the hospital, I deserve it."

Hearing this, Kyson's gaze darkened as he looked at me, as if I were an unreasonable child.

"Georgia, it's all my fault. But how could you treat Zoe like this? There's nothing between us anymore. Be good. I'll treat you well from now on. You're only doing this to Zoe because deep down, you still care about me, right?"

Zoe knelt down and bowed her head twice. I laughed coldly.

"The house? I paid for it in full because Kyson couldn't afford one. The money used to pay for your ward check was also mine. What qualifications do you two idiots have to spend my money after hurting me? Kyson, have some dignity. We're done! You know what I can do."
