"Tasha, it's about time you celebrate, you graduated last month plus you got a job, the celebration is long overdue" my best friend and roommate Faith was saying in her motherly voice.
She's basically been my family since I lost mine to a plane crash a few years back.
The celebration isn't a bad idea, the bad idea is that she wants me to go on a date with a guy I right swiped on tinder but I wasn't ready for any type of relationship.
Well, Faith won in the end, she wins everytime. She's getting me all dolled up for my date in a bar. She let my curly hair down, conditioned it and laid down my edges. She made my make-up very light and minimal, insisting that I might get smashed tonight and she doesn't want her hard work ruined which might likely not happen.
She pulled out a short black strapless dress with a cowl neck and a small slit on my left thigh to be matched with black heels. I sprayed my perfume and I smelled and looked great. I loved what I was looking at.
"Babes, he won't be able to take his eyes off you, I can bet that" Faith said in an almost crying voice while I laughed. She can be a little dramatic sometimes.
"See you tomorrow at noon" she said kissing my cheek
"How'd you know I won't be back tonight ?" I asked but instead of replying, she pushed me out the door blowing me a kiss.
I took an Uber to the Galor's club where my date asked us to meet. The club opened a week ago but it's bustling with people.
I've been sitting in the bar section for about an hour and a half and my date hasn't showed up yet. I'm contemplating going home or just sitting here. I can't believe I got stood up the one time I finally decided to go on a date with this guy. It's really annoying.
I finished the rest of my drink and was about to flag the bartender when I felt a piercing stare. It was drilling a hole at the back of my head.
I turned around and was met with the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen. I almost couldn't look away but I forced myself to.
I flagged down the bartender. "Can I get the check please ?" I couldn't wait to go home and tell Faith what happened and how wrong she was
"It's been covered already"
The bartender tilted his head towards my side and I felt a commanding presence beside me. I turned and I was met with the same beautiful blue eyes. It was as clear as the sea.
