"Alpha, our Luna has given birth to a female child," the pack midwife informed him.
Alpha Gareth's jaw dropped in shock. He had expected her wife to give birth to a bouncing baby boy.
His eyes were filled with rage as he felt sadness wash over him. He had hoped for a male child who would grow up to manage the affairs of the pack.
River his wife who had promised to give birth to a male child as her firstborn, was not pleased either.
"Okay, I will come and check on her in the hospital now, but this is bad. I don't want a female child. How can the Moon Goddess give me a girl? Am I cursed?" he spoke to himself shaking his head in disappointment.
"No problem, please tell my wife that I am coming to meet her," he instructed the nurse.
"Okay, sir. I will tell her," the midwife nodded.
Alpha Gareth left the living room, moving closer to the wall, tears streaming down his face as he sank into his gloomy thoughts. He opened the curtain to gaze at the blue sky.
"I thought I was going to have an heir, but instead, I received a worthless female child. I will definitely treat her like trash," he clenched his fists, his wolves howling in response. He fought to calm himself.
A few minutes later, he arrived at the pack hospital and found his wife lying on the bed, looking pale.
He forced a smile, not wanting her to see his true emotions, while contemplating getting rid of the child. Yet, he changed his mind.
As he considered harming the small baby, his wolf Levi interjected, urging him to reconsider. "Don't do this to her. When she grows up, you can't just send her away to the rogues," Levi advised.
Feeling relieved, he smiled and approached his Luna, gazing at the baby girl wrapped in a cloth, laid inside a crib.
"Wow, this baby looks so beautiful!" he exclaimed, faking a smile.
"My dear, she resembles you so much," Luna Abigail said confidently, excitement shining on her face.
Little did she know that what brought her joy filled him with sorrow.
"Alpha Gareth, I am so happy to have given birth to a bouncing baby girl. She will be a strong Luna in the future," his wife proclaimed, her face alight with joy.
He forced another smile and walked to the crib. Seeing the beautiful baby-so small and resembling him-made his heart ache with conflicting emotions.
He picked her up and played with her, but a storm of dark thoughts began to swirl in his mind.
His face grew serious and he grinned.
"You just have to calm down," his wolf Levi reminded him.
He took a deep breath, composing himself, and gently traced his finger along her soft cheeks before returning her to the crib.
"Oh, how will I get rid of this little devil? She will definitely be a handful," he muttered under his breath, laughing wickedly, unaware that his wife could hear him.
"Alpha Gareth, what kind of words are those? Are you saying you're not grateful to the Moon Goddess for giving us a child?" she shot back, her eyes blazing with anger.
He was ready to retaliate, his frustration simmering below the surface. "So you know I wasn't happy about this girl you gave birth to? I thought we agreed on a male child, so why are you barking at me?" he roared, then took a moment to calm his nerves.
"Gareth, why are you being so cruel? Please, don't let your negative feelings affect this innocent child. She hasn't even grown up yet, and you've already started hating her," she replied, standing strong despite her weakness.
Alpha Gareth walked closer to the hospital curtains to watch the moon. Tears began to roll down his cheeks as he regretted the day he was born.
His father had been a great warrior, one of the strongest Alphas in the Tackle pack, but he had been killed in battle when Gareth was young. His mother had raised him, and he eventually became Alpha of the Tackle pack. People feared him, but many women were drawn to him because of his good looks.
As he stared at the sky, different thoughts flooded his mind. "The Moon Goddess really hates me. How could I have given birth to a female child when I had so many dreams for a baby boy?"
He stopped gazing at the sky when one of his trusted Beta members approached him, having heard the news of the birth.
"Hello, Alpha! I heard our Luna just gave birth to a strong queen!" the Beta said excitedly.
