Chapter 1: The New Girl in a Supernatural World
The bus rumbled along the narrow road, taking Stella closer to a place she never imagined she would be-Blackwood Academy, a prestigious school hidden deep in the mountains, known for educating the most powerful supernatural beings in the world.
But Stella wasn't supernatural.
She sat quietly by the window, clutching the acceptance letter in her hands. She had no idea why she had been accepted into a school full of vampires, werewolves, fairies, and creatures she had only read about in books. It made no sense. She was just a normal human, raised by her foster mother, unaware of her true origins.
"Maybe this is a mistake... Maybe they'll send me back once they realize I don't belong."
As the bus passed through the enchanted gates of Blackwood Academy, Stella's heart pounded. The school was breathtaking-a massive castle-like structure surrounded by mist, with towering spires that seemed to touch the sky. The atmosphere felt heavy, charged with unseen energy.
Students in elegant uniforms walked across the courtyard, their glowing eyes and supernatural auras making it clear that they weren't human. Some had sharp fangs, others had pointed ears, and a few even had wings that shimmered in the sunlight.
Stella swallowed hard. How am I supposed to fit in here?
Meeting the Vampire Roommate
After completing her registration at the grand hall, she was given her dorm key and a school map. She found her room in the Moonlight Dormitory, a place reserved for elite students. She hesitated before pushing the door open.
Inside, the air smelled like lavender and something metallic-like blood.
A girl sat on one of the beds, brushing her long silver hair. Her crimson eyes flickered toward Stella, sharp and assessing.
"You must be the human."
Stella blinked. That's the first thing she says?
The girl smirked, showing a glimpse of her sharp fangs. "Relax, I don't bite-unless I have to. I'm Celeste."
Stella forced a small smile. "Stella."
Celeste tilted her head. "You're either extremely brave or extremely stupid to come here, human. This school isn't for your kind."
Stella frowned. "I didn't choose to come here. I was accepted just like everyone else."
Celeste studied her for a moment before laughing. "Well, this will be fun."
The Rich Families and Their Power
That evening, Celeste decided to give Stella a crash course on the academy's social structure. They sat on the dorm balcony, watching the students below.
"There are three major families that control this school," Celeste explained. "The Deveraux, the Blackwoods, and the Ravens."
She pointed toward a group of students sitting on a raised platform in the dining hall. They were surrounded by others, clearly at the top of the hierarchy.
"The Blackwood twins-Adrian and Aiden-are the strongest werewolves here. Their family rules the werewolf clans."
Two identical boys with wild golden eyes and sharp features sat in the middle, their presence dominating the room.
"Simon Ravens is next. He's a sorcerer, and his family is loaded with money and magic."
A tall boy with black hair and glowing purple eyes leaned lazily against a pillar, his fingers twirling a flame as if it was a toy.
"And then there's Jake Deveraux-the richest and most powerful of them all. His father owns this school, but Jake doesn't give a damn about anything except himself."
Celeste gestured toward a boy sitting at the farthest table, alone.
Jake had midnight-black hair, piercing icy-blue eyes, and an expression that screamed arrogance. Even from across the room, his presence was suffocating.
"Stay away from him," Celeste warned. "He's bad news."
First Encounter with Jake
Unfortunately, fate had other plans.
The next morning, as Stella walked down the hall, trying to memorize the map, she bumped into something hard as a rock-or rather, someone.
Books tumbled from her hands as she stumbled back.
"Watch where you're going!" she snapped, frustrated.
A deep chuckle sent chills down her spine.
"Who the hell do you think you're talking to?"
She looked up-straight into Jake Deveraux's icy-blue eyes.
His presence was overwhelming. He towered over her, his black uniform crisp, his expression unreadable. A dangerous smirk tugged at his lips.
Around them, the hallway fell silent. Students whispered, watching the scene unfold. No one ever talked back to Jake.
Stella refused to be intimidated.
"I don't care who you are. You bumped into me too." She crossed her arms.
His smirk deepened. "You've got guts, new girl. I'll give you that."
He stepped closer, leaning down so their faces were inches apart. "But be careful. Some people in this school aren't as forgiving as me."
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Stella standing there, her heart hammering in her chest.
Celeste appeared beside her, looking both amused and horrified.
"You just declared war on Jake Deveraux."
Stella rolled her eyes. "I don't care. He's just another rich brat."
Celeste sighed. "Oh, you will care. Trust me."
The Beginning of a Rivalry
That night, as Stella lay in bed, she couldn't stop thinking about her encounter with Jake. There was something unsettling about him-something dark and unreadable.
But she wasn't scared.
If he thought she was just another weak human, he was dead wrong.
Little did she know, this was only the beginning.
That evening, Stella sat in the academy's grand dining hall, surrounded by the buzz of supernatural students. The hall was massive, with chandeliers floating in midair, their flames flickering in colors that shifted between blue and gold. The long tables were filled with food she had never seen before-some dishes even moved on their own, as if alive.
She barely touched her plate. She could feel eyes on her.
"They're staring," Stella muttered, leaning toward Celeste.
"Of course they are," Celeste whispered back. "Humans don't get into Blackwood Academy. Ever."
Stella bit her lip, gripping her fork tightly. She wasn't stupid. There was a reason she was here, and she had to find out why.
Across the room, Jake Deveraux sat at his usual spot, effortlessly commanding attention. His blue eyes flickered toward her for a second before he returned to his conversation, as if she were irrelevant.
But Stella knew better.
The way the air seemed to shift around him, the way the other students watched him carefully-Jake wasn't just a rich boy with a bad attitude. There was power in his blood, something deeper, something... dangerous.
And for some reason, he was watching her.
The Mysterious Headmaster's Warning
After dinner, Stella was called to the Headmaster's office. She had barely set foot inside before a deep voice greeted her.
"Miss Stella, welcome to Blackwood Academy."
Headmaster Blackwood was a tall man with silver-streaked hair and piercing amber eyes. He looked like he had seen centuries of war and bloodshed.
"I'm sure you have questions," he said, motioning for her to sit.
"Just one," Stella said firmly. "Why am I here?"
The Headmaster studied her for a long moment before answering.
"Because you are not ordinary, no matter what you believe."
Stella's heart skipped. "What do you mean?"
The Headmaster leaned forward. "There is something inside you, something buried deep. And I suggest you be careful, Miss Stella."
His golden eyes darkened.
"Because if you don't uncover the truth soon, someone else will do it for you."
Stella left the Headmaster's office with her heart pounding. His words echoed in her mind.
"There is something inside you... and if you don't uncover the truth soon, someone else will."
The hallways of Blackwood Academy were eerily quiet at night, only dimly lit by floating lanterns. The shadows stretched long against the stone walls, making her feel like something was watching.
"You look like you've seen a ghost," Celeste said, appearing beside her.
