Ava's heels echoed through the corridor as she walked into the office building taking the private elevator which she normally takes when she is with Anthony. On her hands were cake and a gift boxed wrapped, a surprise she had in store for her man.
Ava had always believed in love, and Anthony had made her believe in it, too. What more could she ask for? A supporting family and tomorrow, she will become the daughter-in-law to the Alpha and Luna of Dominion pack. How would she have gotten that connection if her father wasn't the beta to Alpha Matthew?
**Ting**
The elevator opened and she stepped out only to find the passage empty. She was expecting Cynthia to be somewhere around so she could help her carry the cake as her hands hurt badly.
'Well, if Cynthia isn't here that means Anthony isn't also. They must have gone for a business meeting' she hummed before making her way to Anthony's office. She was going to drop the cake there and wait for them to get back.
She stepped into the quiet office, dropped the cake and gift on the table that was filled with papers and piled up files. Ava sighed as she shook her head, ready to help arrange the stuff on the table. She paused when she heard laughter coming from Anthony's dressing room in his office.
Her forehead folded in a frown, she tried to listen some more, and she began to hear the voices and silent cries. Ava dropped the papers in her hands immediately as she gulped, with a racing heart, she began to walk towards the room.
With every step she took, she trembled in fear of what she was hearing aligning with what she was imagining in her head. Slowly and quietly, Ava opened the door so narrowly and peeped through. Her heart practically stopped. She covered her mouth with her hand when she saw the heartbreaking scene before her.
Anthony was in bed with Cynthia, her best friend. The room spun her vision blurry as hot tears rolled down her cheeks. Cynthia, her childhood friend and her fiancée in bed the day before her mating ceremony, she stood frozen.
Her world came crumbling before her eyes as she choked on her tears, pained and betrayed, she tried to shut the door but her eyes refused to tear away from her man entangled with the woman she once trusted.
"Fuck! Cynthia, I won't trade you for anything" Anthony swore.
"Ah...!" Cynthia moaned, "Says someone that would be married to his Luna tomorrow"
"It's you," his breathing shallow, "It's you that will always be my Luna in my eyes" he confessed. Ava swallowed painfully with a broken heart.
Quietly, Ava shut the door and with trembling legs went back to pick up the cake and box, she left the office with her breathing held. The moment she got into the elevator, she broke down. Tears gushed down her eyes like a flood; her fingers shaking as she again and again saw the scene before her eyes.
Anthony had asked her to focus on the preparation, while he made the money,
'Best way to make money' she thought. They had promised to keep themselves for each other until after marriage, how dare he do this to her?
The moment she got out of the company building, she threw the cake into the trash can and flagged a cab.
"Where to, ma'am?" The cab driver asked before turning to the rearview mirror to see a crying passenger.
"Any good club is fine," Ava whispered in a raspy voice.
The driver didn't ask any further, he turned on the radio playing cool music, and drove off to the most famous club in Dominion Pack. Ava paid the driver before walking into the bar. With the loud music, the dim light and people minding their business, Ava knew this was the perfect place to drown in her sorrow.
"Can I get a bottle of whiskey?" she asked. Seeing that the lady was a young inexperienced lady, the bar attendant corrected her,
"You mean a glass..." he passed her a small glass of whiskey.
Ava took the glass and downed it at a go; her eyes shut tightly, and her throat burned as she swallowed the liquor. She finally opened her teary eyes and with a rasped voice, she replied,
"No, a bottle"
Not arguing further, the bar attendant gave her a bottle of whiskey as he sneered, "You seem to have had the worst day of your life today"
"You have no idea" Ava replied as she continued to drink from her bottle not caring how far drunk she had become. She blabbered about what was going on in her life to the bar attendant who barely paid her any attention as he had to attend to other customers.
"He made me believe in love. He kissed me under the moonlight and made me feel I was complete in his arms; we were committed to each other. Even though it was an arranged marriage, I believed in it because he told me he loved me" she cried miserably.
"Ouch, looked like he never really did" the bar attendant finally responded, "I feel you should pay him back and not sit here crying. How dare he fuck your best friend?"
