I looked at my mom sitting at the chair, with all her fingers crossed together with each other praying for a miracle. She is crying.
My dad sitting beside her giving her comfort keeping one hand on her cross fingers but worry written all over his face about what's going to be happen next. Their eyes never leaving my face.
"We all are here for the Sophie murder case happened last night and Miss Maya here has been proved guilty as all evidence we have found are against her. Can we start the trial Your Honour"
Said Mr George, attorney of Sophie side.
"Start the trial"
With this, the hearing started. I'm standing at the witness stand for being proved guilty.
"So Miss Maya, how do you know Miss Sophie Wilson?"
Mr George asked.
"I don't know her. I have never met her."
I replied with a straight face.
"So you mean you met her just yesterday."
"Yes"
"Then why did you killed her Miss Maya when you don't even know her?"
"I didn't killed her"
Mr George smiled and paused a little. There was a whole minute long silence before he spoke his next line. I could feel my heart pumping so fast. My palms are sweaty. I want this to get over soon.
"How can we believe you that you didn't killed her? Your honour we have proofs that shows she has murdered Sophie. Bring the proof inside"
I saw two men coming inside the courtroom with a gun inside a plastic in their hands. I know one of the man.
"This gun was found in the hands of Miss Maya when she shot Shophie. We have eye evidence as well. Mr John please tell everyone what you have seen yesterday"
"I am a cleaner there. It's almost the end of the day, I thought of checking terrace once before going off duty. When I reached terrace, I heard a gunshot and I saw a gun in Maya mam's hands whereas Sophie had her hands on her stomach fully covered in blood. I ran from their to call the owner of the building when a loud thud was heard. Me and many people living in the building, we all went outside to check then we found Sophie mam body lying on the ground covered in blood. Maya Mam has pushed her from the terrace because she was the only person present with Sophie mam at that time."
John spoke, forming his own story from what he had seen.
Whatever he saw was all true but what he has assumed and how he has interpreted was wrong. Seeing something and believing on it are two different cases. We can't come into our own conclusion when we don't know it's history. But I kept myself silent here. Mr George spoke next.
"It was clearly witnessed that Miss Maya first shot Miss Sophie Wilson and then pushed her off from the building. The fingerprints we have found in the gun is also of Miss Maya"
"It's all false. My daughter can't kill anyone. She is a doctor. She saves people lives not take them away!!!!! My daughter has not killed anyone.... has not killed anyone.... please believe!!!!!"
My mother shouted standing from her seat, can't able to control herself anymore. All evidence are against her daughter. She believes me. She believes her daughter. But today is not our day mumma.
"But all the proofs and evidence shows that Miss Maya is not a victim but a culprit. You are a mother that's why it's hard for you to digest that YOUR DAUGHTER IS A MURDERER. She has killed a girl. Just because Sophie was an orphan doesn't mean that she won't get justice"
Sophie was an orphan? Then about whom she asked me to save? Whom she wanna save? Why was she pleading? And if she was an orphan then who hired Mr George in this case? Before my mother could say something, I spoke:
"I want to say something"
All looked at me. I was silent whole of the time listening all the accusations. But I know there is something more than this death. I want to dig into it. For that, I need to prove myself innocent.
"Yes Miss Maya, please say"
Mr George spoke with stern eyes directly looking at me.
"Can I question Mr John?"
