Nina's POV
The letters on the desk were not there again.
Where could I have placed them? My mind was a little bit preoccupied with things so I wouldn't know where I kept the letters but I was sure I kept it on my desk.
"I'm sorry Miss Nina but if you cannot find the letters, I'm sorry we'll have to leave." Detective Allen said, jerking me back to reality.
"You should check the CCTV footage, you might find something helpful."
He let out a frustrated sigh. "The street lights and security cameras were down yesterday night and there's no CCTV footage. There's also no proof that you were attacked and that's the main reason why we can't help you." He explained gently.
I had been seriously looking for the evidence that I was attacked last night but I couldn't find it. I had also received a threatening letter on my desk the previous day with the word 'Die' on it but didn't take it seriously till I was attacked.
"But the letters were on my table last night and I saw them before leaving the office. How's this possible?" I asked, annoyed.
"Mrs Nina, I'm sorry we have to leave." He replied and left almost immediately after scanning through my corridor.
I stopped halfway at the corridor. "Look, I'm a senator's daughter and I have my way around things. I was wondering if you could just file the report that I was attacked by some hoodlums last night. They were going to kill me..."
"Then how did you escape?" He inquired, suspiciously.
Why didn't everyone understand me? Someone saved me and I didn't even know who it was. He wore a mask that hid his face.
"Well, someone saved me. I hate repeating myself, I thought I mentioned that in the statement I wrote."
"It sounds suspicious and ridiculous. This is not some superhero type of movie… there's absolutely no real Spiderman, Superman or the Flash to save you. I'm sorry but I can't help you until you find the letters your assumed 'gunmen' sent to you." He replied.
I took a deep breath, before sending them to hell with insults. "Aren't you guys bunch of incompetent fools? I'm going to make you pay for this. You'll definitely regret this when I'm done with you."
He ignored me and walked into the lift making me look like a fool to the other staff nearby.
I stared at the floor in anger. How dare they disrespect me? I was attacked by unknown men and why didn't they want to believe me.
It was even more annoying. My dad could make me work in his company but he decided to make me a secretary in another man's company. Nothing was more frustrating and annoying than seeing my boss's face.
And all the fake smiles I had to put up just because I was faking a love relationship with Greg, the son of the bastard family that murdered my mom. They believed I didn't know and it was better like that.
However, it was to my benefit because I was playing my cards well. Even though I didn't like Greg, I was still using him and his company. I was sure that very soon, I'll own a major share in his company and become the queen I was meant to be.
And speaking of the devil, Greg walked towards me and placed a kiss on my forehead. "When did you come?" He inquired.
"An hour ago, I was in my office and I forgot to visit your office to greet you."
He scratched his eyebrows. "No, it's fine. I should be asking after you, what's wrong with you? What happened last night?"
I pretended to fake a cry. "I was attacked last night by three gunmen, I don't know what they want from me."
He brought me close to his side and hugged me. "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry this happened. Have you informed your father?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, didn't you see the detective he sent?"
