I Dont Care

Screech, screech! The sound of the car grew louder. “Mph!” Abigail felt herself becoming dizzy as she opened and closed her eyes in pain. A memory suddenly flashed in her mind: “Dad… Mom." she called out amidst the pain, her voice fading away.

When she realized, she found herself in a hospital bed. Her memories were hazy, but she recalled that her dad was driving, and they were singing happily on their way to a vacation with her mom. Then, a car had overtaken them….

Abigail quickly sat up and tried to get out of bed, determined to find her parents. However, the nurse in charge stopped her.

“Where's my mom?” Abigail asked, her voice laced with concern.

“Your mom is being treated, and she'll be fine,” the nurse assured her.

But when Abigail asked about her dad, the nurse's expression turned somber. Abigail knew the answer even before the nurse could respond. She felt a wave of grief wash over her, and she collapsed to the floor, wailing in despair.

Abigail had just been admitted to high school and was sitting on the couch beside her mother, Sarah. Sarah gazed intently at her daughter, her eyes filled with a mix of happiness and sadness. She knew that Abigail would soon be leaving for college.
