Third POV
“Congratulations.”
“Mrs. Miles, you're pregnant with quadruplets, two boys and two girls. You ought to take an ante-natal check up more seriously.”
The doctor announced it to Estella. Despite being told to be carrying four babies, she jumped up so high in the air, squealing.
Then the tears came. She sniffled, trying to hold back tears of joy as she stared at the test result on the medical result sheet. A tear dropped on the paper which she gently dipped in her finger.
“Doctor, is this true?” She asked with a sniffle. “The doctors said I'll never be able to have a baby because of a rare genetic disorder. Oh my God! Cameron and I are having four babies!” She raised her voice as she spoke to the doctor, almost crying.
The doctor came closer and pulled her into a light hug. “I understand your plight but sometimes it's good to hang on,” she whispered into her ears.
It was quite uneasy for Estella to believe that such a beautiful thing could happen to her after all the sufferings and emotional turmoil she's been through.
It’s been five years since she became the wife of a famous billionaire capitalist. Being from a royal descent, she's expected to marry someone of noble status but Cameron isn't in any way noble in character.
Estella has had to endure a lot of insults and abuses from Cameron, still he never stopped to make sure she suffered. He called her a man as often as possible and regretted getting married to her because she couldn't give him a baby.
Even when Estella was tested and acclaimed barren for life, she didn't give up hope and her fertility treatment. In the end, it paid off much more than she expected.
She brushed the tear away with her free hand, smiling.
Today was her husband's birthday and she had for a long time thought of what to give him as a birthday present without arriving at any idea. This would be the most perfect of all birthday gifts. She clutched the file to her chest, then carefully placed it in a folder inside her bag.
She left the hospital, smiling so wide and walked to her car where her driver was already waiting for her.
“Ma'am, you're off work so early? Why did you call me so early to pick you up?” Her driver was quite puzzled. Working as an urologist and clinical massager in the same hospital, her work shift ends in the afternoon but this was just 10 AM.
“I have some important news to deliver to my husband,” she uttered, flinching her head over to the window to hide the smile on her lips.
While waiting for the traffic light to turn green on the road, an idea came to mind. She decided to Google through her phone for the best surprise approaches to announce a pregnancy. She wished to surprise her husband.
“Who's at the door?” Cameron’s hoarse voice came through the moment he heard the visitor's alarm tone ring on the door. It was an automated one that could identify and speak out the name or description of the person on the door.
This wasn't at home but the hotel where he was lodging. It's been a long time since he slept at home. He goes from the hotel, one of his very own to his office, still at the hotel vicinity or outside, depending on which office he wanted to work from on a particular day.
“Estella is here to see you, Mr Miles,” the AI answered immediately with a steady voice.
