A Sinner’s Redemption

The full moon was out and the people of Silverwood Town were all preparing. This was the time when their daughters who had come of age were going to be accepted by their mate.

Mia Trevor was also currently in her house dressed in her white dress and was being endowed with her accessories. It was customary to wear a white dress during the rites. It was to signify your purity.

" You look so beautiful and radiant," Her mother said.

" A total contrast from the naughty girl she is," Her father said.

" Dad!!!" Mia said. Her father was a warrior for their clan and had come back specifically for this day

" Let her have her day," Her mother said to him.

" Mia must be really happy. I can't wait for my turn" Her friend, Sam chipped in.

" Having a mate is one of the best feelings ever" Her mother said.

" Mia was so lucky to have found her mate so early and he is even her crush. If only wishes could come true" Sam said.

" On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you?" Sam asked Mia.

" A hundred" Mia said then they all started laughing. 

" Is that a blush I see there? The day cometh when I see Mia shy" Sam said.

" Stop teasing your friend," Her mother said.

" I would leave you ladies to yourselves," Her father said as he left.

" Let me tell you got something. The rite is just a small thing of joy. The most enjoyable part would be the marking. When Mia's father marked me. That was the day I got pregnant for Mia. That night, we...."

" Mum, I don't need details of how you birthed me. Let that part remain a secret to me" Mia said.

" You talk like a child. I am sure Sam would want to know so she would be prepared" Her mother said.

" Aunty Trevor, don't worry about me. I am okay with the little knowledge I have" Sam said and Mia started laughing.

" Luna, why are you so quiet?" Mia's mother asked the other young girl in the room. She had been quiet throughout their whole conversation.

" Luna did something to Mia so Mia is quite mad at her" Sam explained instead.

" You girls should not be having problems. You have been best of friends since childhood and nothing should stain it. Mia just forgives Luna. You know that she is a sweet child" Her mother said.

" What she did to me was not sweet. Plus, I don't even know what she is doing here" Mia said.

" I came as your friend and I hope you forgive me," Luna said in a barely audible voice, one that sounded like someone who was being bullied.

" This is my problem with her. She always does this kind of thing and now not forgiving her looks like I am being mean to her" Mia said.

"Mia!!" Sam said.

" Can't I say out my grievance? I should forgive her just because she asked. Why then are they cops in the world" Mia said.

" I didn't mean it," Luna said.

" Now she is making everything worse. She is spoiling my day" Mia said.

Luna stood up running out as she covered her face.

Mia scoffed as she folded her hands.

" Why were you so mean to her?" Her mother asked her.

" She deserved it," Mia said.
