Chapter 1 Declared WANTED by the GODDESS

The night felt heavier than usual.

Amara clutched her threadbare cloak tighter around her shoulders as she slipped between the towering pines. Each breath hung in the cold air, and every step seemed to echo through the silence of the forest. For years, she had trained herself to walk soundlessly, to live unseen. Tonight, it felt like even the shadows were watching her.

She reached the edge of a small clearing illuminated by a pale sliver of moonlight. The wind stirred, carrying the distant scent of rain and something else - something old, powerful, and unmistakably divine. A shiver danced down her spine.

She wasn't supposed to be here.

Not just here, in this clearing, but alive, free, and breathing. Amara had spent the last five years evading every patrol, every bounty hunter, and every curious villager who asked too many questions. It wasn't just that her past was dangerous; it was forbidden. Yet somehow, it had found her again.

A soft rustle behind her made her whirl around, heart pounding in her chest. Her eyes met nothing but darkness, and the whispering wind. Still, the sense of being watched didn't fade.

"Who's there?" she called out, her voice low, guarded.

No answer.

Drawing in a steadying breath, Amara turned back - only to freeze at the sight before her. In the center of the clearing, hovering just above the earth, floated an ethereal sigil, pulsing with silver light. Ancient runes spiraled outward, dancing in the air like living fire.

She swallowed hard. This was no human magic. It was the mark of the goddess.

Before she could react, the sigil flared brilliantly, blinding her. She stumbled back, shielding her eyes, and when the light faded, a single phrase echoed in her mind - as clear and commanding as thunder:

*"Declared wanted... by the goddess herself."*

Amara's heart thudded painfully. Wanted? By the goddess? For what?

The words settled deep inside her, stirring memories she had tried to bury: the day her family was slaughtered, the night she had barely escaped with her life, and the hidden truths she'd forced herself to forget. But why now? Why after all these years of silence?

As if answering her unspoken question, the sigil shifted, forming an image: a lone figure standing at the gates of a great fortress, cloaked in shadows. Even without seeing his face, she recognized the imposing presence - Alpha Kael.

A name whispered through the air, carried on an unseen wind. *"Kael."*

Amara staggered backward, breath caught in her throat. Why him? Why her? And what did the goddess truly want?

The clearing seemed to pulse with expectation. She sensed it - a choice had been offered, though it felt more like a demand.

Run. Hide again. Forget she ever saw this.

Or go. Face Alpha Kael, and whatever fate awaited her under the goddess's decree.

Her instincts screamed to flee, but something deep inside - a spark she thought had died long ago - stirred to life. Was this truly destiny? Or a cruel trick of fate?

The wind picked up, swirling leaves around her feet, and the sigil slowly faded, leaving nothing but the soft glow of moonlight on damp earth. Yet its presence remained etched into her bones.

Amara closed her eyes, breathing shakily. She had been hiding for so long. But could she keep running from something divine?

When she opened her eyes, the forest felt different - alive with unseen power. The night no longer seemed so empty.

"I won't run," she whispered, the words tasting strange on her tongue. "Not this time."

Far away, under the same moonlit sky, Alpha Kael stirred in his sleep, haunted by visions of silver light and a woman with eyes like dusk. Destiny had begun to move its pieces. And Amara, whether ready or not, was now at the very heart of it.

*Declared wanted by the goddess herself.*
