He was her new boss, and Amaka tried to get along. She was taken aback when she realised this. "Joseph, you cannot pretend not to know me. My child is yours. The same face, nose, and mouth." She showed him the photo of their child. The one he has refused to accept. "Amaka, it's all in the past. Do not pin your child on me. I'm not his father, and I'm getting married now." Joseph's brows furrowed. He used to love her, but that was all in the past. Amaka was hurt. She expected Joseph to love her and give them a second chance, but he ignored her and never accepted her, until his parents intervened. Now, he is back, trying to win her back. Should Amaka accept him and reunite with her baby daddy? Can he mend her broken heart after all she had been through? Find out.

Chapter 1 1

Amaka's POV

"Mmmm!" I moaned as Joseph thrust into me. This was my eighteenth birthday. I had just graduated from college and Joseph was my boyfriend of three years. He wouldn't leave me alone. Begging me and pestering me for us to have sex.

I had told him that I wanted to wait until after our marriage, but Joseph refused. He claimed that I did not love him enough and that was why I didn't want to sleep with him. I agreed, and here I was in a hotel room with him.

I am typically a shy blonde girl, and very fair in complexion, but Joseph was the opposite of my complexion. He was dark in complexion, taller than me and very handsome. He has full black hair and I really love him very much.

While Joseph Ericson came from a very rich family here in Palazzo town where we were living, my parents were average workers and so we were considered not as well off as Joseph's family.

Joseph promised to marry me. He was 21 years old and a business student in the university, while I was still preparing to gain admission and to join him there. I had lied to my mother that I was going to see my friend, just so I could prepare to write my admission exam into the university. However, I sneaked into this hotel to see Joseph, and here we are.

"Um! Ha!" I moaned as Joseph drove into me faster and moaned in my ears, "Yes, babe. You are so sweet." He got his release and released himself in me.

"Joseph, it hurts," I cried as he kissed me warmly and sat beside me on the hotel bed.

"I am sorry, my love. I will forever cherish this," he said, cupping my pretty face as he kissed my forehead.

"I cannot seem to get enough of you. I wish we could get married and I wouldn't leave you," Joseph said, and I wiped my teary eyes and looked at his handsome face as we were still laying on the hotel's bed.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked him, and he sighed. "Look, Amaka, I want you to know that I love you very much. But my family and I are moving to the city next week. You know that my father owns a big company there. So he informed my siblings and me that he acquired a new mansion, which means that I would be leaving with them, and we might not get to see each other again."

My eyes welled up in tears as I heard Joseph say that to me.

"But you will still be calling me on the phone, right?" I asked him, as I tried to believe that Joseph wouldn't get to the city and fall in love with another woman there. I love him very much. He is like the air that I breathe. My heart and soul wanted him.

"I promise you, I wouldn't forget about you. Anytime that I am on vacation, I will come around to see you. Instead, I will lodge in the hotel, okay. You are my wife, stop crying," Joseph wiped my tears away and drew closer to me on the bed as he kissed me on my lips again.

I was crying and not in the mood to kiss him. "Why not take me home with you? Tell your parents that I am your girlfriend and you wish to marry me. You have been hiding me all the time and not wanting to introduce me to your mother," I told him. Knowing that whenever I told Joseph that I wanted to come and see him at home at his family's house, he would refuse. None of his two siblings knows that we are dating, and I feel so awkward chatting with his brother online and introducing myself to him as Joseph's girlfriend.

"My elder brother is not in any relationship," Aaron would say.

Joseph practically kept me hidden, and I don't know how long he planned to continue doing that.

"No, Amy. I promise you, when the time is right, I will take you home and introduce you to my family. If I do that now, my parents will get annoyed and give my inheritance to my younger brother. I have to first get established, and after that, I promise you we will get married," Joseph said, wiping my sobs away. I wished that I could believe him, but I have this lingering feeling that Joseph is lying to me.

Was he lying to me? Does he have another woman in his life? My heart became so heavy that I had just lost my virginity to him before I thought about all these.

Joseph kissed me again and thrust into me before my mind could register to ask him. I groaned in pain with each deep thrust, and there he took me to cloud nine with him.

***

Four years plus.

Amaka's POV:

"Mom, when are you taking me to school?" My three-year-old son asked me. He was so smart and intelligent compared to me.

Jason will be four years old in a week time.

"Jason, you are still a baby and not fit to go to school now," I told him as I was preparing for my new job interview.

"That's a lie, Mom!" He shouted. I sighed, rolled my eyes as I stood by the mirror of my room, combing my long blonde hair and applying my orange perfume.

"Jason, why would Mommy lie to you? Have you seen babies going to school? You have to stay at home with my friend," I told him, and he frowned.

"Mommy..." Jason burst out crying hard, and my best friend, Maureen Austin, came into the room.

"What's going on here, Amaka? What did you do to my small husband?" She asked me as she scoops Jason up into her arms.

After I got pregnant, my parents chased me away and refused to sponsor my education. I tried calling Joseph then to tell him that I was pregnant, but guess what? He blocked my line and told me to get rid of it and that he wasn't ready to father a child.

I couldn't do that. I had to beg my friend for help. She was a tailor and into blogs, and so, she pleaded with her mother, who was a single mother, and her mother allowed me to live with them.

Later, I started creating blogs too, as Maureen told me I could be doing it as a part-time job at home. With that, my page has millions of followers as I created a baby page for my son and uploaded cute photos about him.

Many fans love Jason. He was fair-skinned, just like me. But while I had long blonde hair, he has short light-brown hair.

"You're a creepy bastard." His eyes smolder me and his answering grin is nothing short of beautiful. Deadly. "Yet you hunger for me. Tell me, this appetite of yours, does it always tend toward 'creepy bastards'?" **** Widower and ex-boss to the Mafia, Zefiro Della Rocca, has an unhealthy fixation on the woman nextdoor. It began as a coincidence, growing into mere curiosity, and soon, it was an itch he couldn't ignore, like a quick fix of crack for an addict. He didn't know her name, but he knew every inch of her skin, how it flushed when she climaxed, her favourite novel and that every night she contemplated suicide. He didn't want to care, despising his rapt fascination of the woman. She was in love with her abusive husband. She was married, bound by a contract to the Bratva's hitman. She was off-limits. But when Zefiro wanted something, it was with an intensity that bordered on madness. He obsessed, possessed, owned. There'd be bloodshed if he touched her, but the sight of blood always did fascinate him. * When Susanna flees from her husband, she stumbles right into the arms of her devilishly handsome neighbour with a brooding glare. He couldn't stand her, but she needed him, if she was ever going to escape her husband who now wanted her dead. Better the devil you know than the angel you don't. She should have recalled that before hopping into Zefiro's car and letting him whisk her away to Italy. Maybe then, she wouldn't have started an affair with him. He was the only man who touched her right, and the crazy man took no small pains in ensuring he would be the last.
