Chapter 1 The Betrayal

Eight months ago, Zara Kingston's best friend Mira Hawks came crying to her and informed that she was pregnant and she had no idea who the father was. It was a one night stand and she didn't know that she would end up getting pregnant.

Zara being friends with Mira for ten years, couldn't stop supporting her best friend who has been her emotional rock. She did support her decision to keep the baby and was there when she did another confirmation test on her pregnancy.

After that-

From talking with Mira's parents to arranging baby showers, putting the nursery for the kid with her own money, gender reveal party and all kinds of maternal programmes that Mira needed to attend as mother, everything she has done for her. She was excited to be the best Godmother of the baby.

Three months ago, Zara lost her dream job because of unfairness, but she kept her composure perfect. She supported Mira unconditionally, and didn't let her severe depression come between her taking care of her pregnant bestie and her responsibility as best friend.

And obviously, she couldn't deny the fact that, after losing her dream competition and her dream job, her family suddenly became so attentive and supportive that she couldn't stop feeling blessed. From emotionally abusive parents, they turned into lovely and perfect parents who started loving her as equally as her brother, who has always been the golden child of her millionaire parents.

Today,

Mira has given birth to a beautiful baby girl.

Shawn, her boyfriend, was here with her brother, Zayn Kingston, who seemed to have been extra caring for Mira.

Mira's family and her family are close enough to invite them to different occasions, thanks to this miracle baby.

Right now, holding a huge basket, filled with all kinds of sushi and desserts that she made in the early morning, Zara heads to the Inpatient Ward. Mira was transferred there soon after she gave birth naturally.

With a huge smile on her face, Zara walks towards the room where Mira is.

And this is where something hideous is going to happen.

" How should we proceed with this? If she learns about the truth, she will hate us! But I no longer want to keep hiding it!"

She stops by the door when she hears her best friend Mira's voice coming from the patient room. Judging by her tone, she seems to be upset about something.

" We will keep things as secret as possible if you don't want to ruin things."

Zara's eyes widen when she hears her brother's voice. He said that he would be at the company today because there's some important business to finish.

" Do you want me to keep my baby away from its father? This is so unfair to me and the baby!" Mira almost shouts,

Zara clamps her mouth and mumbles, " That means - The father of the child is Brother?"

Her eyes dance with happiness. Although she can't understand why Mira didn't say anything. She should have told everyone about it. Nobody will reject her or the baby.

" My poor Mira. You should have told us about it. This is my first niece! I'm an auntie n-!"

" Are you kidding me? If you mess things up now, we all will be in trouble. We all know that Zara's grudge is dangerous. If you disclose this truth, everything will be out of the box!" Zayn yells at Mira without holding his anger.

Zara's eyebrows knit with confusion because she doesn't know what's happening. " What truth? What are they talking about?"

Clenching the basket, she leans against the wall. She doesn't mean eavesdropping, but she can't help since it's clear that they're having problems related to her..

" What truth? Do you think it will stay under the rug when you will have to tell her that the Ultimatum is real and she is going to marry that man your dad arranged for her if she loses the competition?"

What did she just hear?

Zara's eyes flick with shock and utter disbelief. She thought the ultimatum was a simple bet that her father wanted to put on. What are they talking about?

" Who is going to tell her the truth? Also this is a deal of two billion dollars. She has to agree. She needs to accept her fate!" Zayn shouts.

" Lol!" Mira scoffs, " Selling your own sister is already shameful. If she knows that it wasn't an arrangement to marry her off but she is being sold for two billion dollars and it's entirely your personal gain. Do you think she will forgive you? She is stupid enough to think that her family loves her. But she doesn't know that her family is selling her off for two billionaires dollars because their golden child wants to have his own business. Am I not right?"

" This fucking mouth!" Zayn grabs her chin and presses it strongly enough to make her inner cheeks bleed.

" What are you trying to say? You are so concerned about your best friend while giving birth to her boyfriend's child. Aren't you too bold for saying those words to me?" He shoves her face and scoffs,

"What will happen when she knows that not only us but also you, who she adopted like a stray dog, actually slept with her boyfriend behind her back and got pregnant. Also, that dog dared to use her money, time and effort to make a good pregnancy journey. Do you think you will end up in good condition?"

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."

One Night With My Billionaire Boss

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.
