Chapter 1 1

I put the clubhouse sandwich on the table and Pietho ate peacefully while watching cartoons

because there was a TV nearby in our dining area.

I took my son's bag and put his pockets and snacks for the afternoon. Draven was busy with the

folders on the table and signed them one by one, approached the telephone and I let him talk on

the telephone. I was about to say something when Pietho stood up and approached me.

I adjusted the sheet behind it and put powder on the lid before hanging his bag and gave our

driver the bag where his pocket was. "Son, go home early, Mama can't pick you up because

Mama has something important to do." I adjusted the collar and kissed Pietho.

"I will Mama, see you later!" It ran away and our driver chased after it, one of our assistants

came along and I handed him some money before they left. Draven and I talked about our son's

safety, so he has an assistant and a bodyguard with him in the afternoon.

I wiped my hand on my clothes and walked over to Draven, taking a sip of coffee before

grabbing the files that were meant for me. I put together the reports that were discussed the

previous day and the rejected offers that were discussed in the meeting. I won't accept that. I put

a note and looked at the bank account, there was a statement there and a report about what I

earned from Draven's company.

"Hon, finish it quickly. My secretary is on her way to get those files." I nodded slowly and signed

them one by one and arranged the things scattered on the table. This is how we set up on Fridays.

His secretary is already taking the ones that should be taken. Because Draven is only in the office

from Monday to Thursday. And when it comes from Friday to Sunday, it's his rest day. He said

that it is for the family day and the workout routine that he will catch up with especially when he

is unable to do it due to fatigue.

I dropped a folder and Draven ate and I was busy organizing and noting the files that I had

already checked. I once experienced that I was blackmailed, if I hadn't remembered that files had

been sent to me, I wish I could have signed them.

"Hon, what about this offer and the fund that they are asking me to approve," I explained and

showed the files and Draven approached me. "Even though they keep forcing us to get materials

from them. I don't think that it's a bad idea because it's cheap. But I don't want to hurt what we

get, that is why I always declined it." I nodded and put a note that I would not accept it.

"The investigation shuts down, what was said in our meeting. They retreated and moved to the

enemy, and they accepted it." I looked at Draven who was sipping his coffee.

"Sometimes, I don't understand what they want to happen. Whether they want us to rise or fall." I

took off my glasses and took out the folders that Draven's secretary would take.

"Both, there are times when they want us to make a profit, especially in their favor. And there are

times when they want us to lose, especially if the return to the previous profit is increased.

Because they have agreements signed with us, they will invest big money and even if we go

bankrupt, they won't." I frowned at it.

"But we reimburse them for our other fees and investments that they don't know about. There are

times when we use their money and it comes back to us triple. So it's good that we pay a lot to

accountants and they don't know each other, that's all. There are many holes but they are dazzled

by the money we can give if we fall." The maid approached us and Draven's secretary was

behind her.

Draven reached out to the files and bought some, I simply took the wine and put it in the mug.

This morning I was stressed from being in the files and my head hurt.

"I will update that Sir, I will be first." He waved at me and I nodded. Walked back to the table

and Draven was smiling at me and seemed to have a bad plan for me now.

"So honey, we're all alone here now." Draven raised an eyebrow and I hid it. The contents of the

mug were empty and it frowned at me.

"I know what you're drinking Kourtney, it's you. Your liquor is morning." I shut it down and

picked up a sandwich. "I can't help, my head hurts from their stupid offers and lies." I bit into the

bread and he sat next to me now.

"I have a better idea, hon, and you will like this one." He took a ballpoint pen and clean paper. I

watched him write on the paper while chewing.

"A bucket list and our plan for dates and vacations." I came closer and waited for him to put

something he wanted to do and I was thinking of something else that would be nice to add to

that. "What about visiting Antarctica?" I said and he wrote that.

"I also like to have a date with you on Paris. While wearing an eighties-"

"Okay fine, I'll agree if it's winter in Japan too." He nodded and wrote down what I said, his big

smile while explaining other places with good history.

"And today we will begin the ones on the list." I looked and stopped what he said. Draven

walked over to me and pointed to the one ahead. "I will go shopping with you at the mall. Buy

anything you want, I will spoil you for a day." It winked at me and I stood up immediately. I took

a bite of what I was eating and ran into the room.

Oh god, I need new art materials!

...

Draven and I got out of the car and I dragged him to the art materials store and immediately ran

to the canvases and brushes. A staff member came to me and asked me how many canvases to

take and the sizes I needed.

I was four months pregnant, a photographer excited for our future, attending a sophisticated baby brunch. Then I saw him, my husband Michael, with another woman, and a newborn introduced as "his son." My world shattered as a torrent of betrayal washed over me, magnified by Michael's dismissive claim I was "just being emotional." His mistress, Serena, taunted me, revealing Michael had discussed my pregnancy complications with her, then slapped me, causing a terrifying cramp. Michael sided with her, publicly shaming me, demanding I leave "their" party, as a society blog already paraded them as a "picture-perfect family." He fully expected me to return, to accept his double life, telling his friends I was "dramatic" but would "always come back." The audacity, the calculated cruelty of his deception, and Serena's chilling malice, fueled a cold, hard rage I barely recognized. How could I have been so blind, so trusting of the man who gaslighted me for months while building a second family? But on the plush carpet of that lawyer's office, as he turned his back on me, a new, unbreakable resolve solidified. They thought I was broken, disposable, easily manipulated – a "reasonable" wife who would accept a sham separation. They had no idea my calm acceptance was not surrender; it was strategy, a quiet promise to dismantle everything he held dear. I would not be handled; I would not understand; I would end this, and make sure their perfect family charade crumbled into dust.
