Chapter 1 New secretary

"Good morning!"

Athena politely greeted the person on the phone, her calm voice devoid of any emotion.

"Uhm...Okay, I got it."

She frowned and hung up the phone, immediately laughing with disdain, "Let me see how difficult it is to serve you."

Looking in the mirror, she adjusted her uniform, fixed her sleeves, looked at herself in the mirror, confidently smiled, went to the door to put on her shoes, and then left the house.

Inside the Williams X Corporation, Berklee Williams frowned and buried his face in documents.

"Knock-knock-knock" The knock on the door interrupted his attention, his mood was a bit gloomy, coldly throwing a sentence at the door, "Come in!"

The head of the human resources department heard the cold, murderous voice of the CEO. He silently swallowed his saliva, carried the mood "If I don't go to hell, who will come in" and entered the room.

"Mr. Williams...To be honest...."

Berklee Williams impatiently watched the man standing hunched in front of him and took a cup of milk coffee from the table, "What is this? Didn't I say I only drink black coffee? Where is Secretary Martin?"

"Mr.Williams, I came here to talk about this, yesterday Secretary Martin submitted his resignation, so the Chairman purposely found you a new secretary."

"What? Even my secretary, he finds it on his own?"

Berklee Williams snorted coldly and slammed his coffee cup on the table.

"The...the new secretary will be here soon, Mr. Williams, I have to go out for working."

After saying that, the Head of the Human Resources Department immediately ran out.

"Berklee, you've scared him." Axella looked at the fleeing Head of Department, laughing until he couldn't stand it.

Axella, an effective assistant of Berklee Williams, one of the core employees of the Williams X Group, young and talented, at work, he was a direct assistant, a subordinate of Berklee Williams. He had a very good relationship with him and was one of his very few close friends.

"Do you hear anything? Even my secretary, he wants to find it on his own."

"Don't blame him, who told you to be so difficult to serve, in the past half-year, you've replaced 10 secretaries! No one has lasted more than a month. If it wasn't for being fired by you, it would have been threatened to run away. Berklee, didn't I tell you, you should be gentle with girls."

Berklee Williams, the famous cold CEO in Los Angeles, was also a talented young man, only twenty-one years old, took over the position of CEO, and within just half a short year, he succeeded in increasing shares of Williams X Corporation by twenty percent, a feat in the business world of Los Angeles, and within a short period, its fame spread throughout the city. It was just that he was also a famous person with the speed of changing new secretaries, half a year, eighteen people, setting a new record for Los Angeles.

"Being incompetent to work, why keep them?"

"Okay, okay, whatever you do is right, no matter what the previous secretaries, this new secretary was found by your father personally, anyway, it will take a bit longer."

Axella wholeheartedly advised Berklee Williams to be splashed with cold water again, "Axella, you're getting more and more like a woman by the day!"

"Knock-Knock-Knock" Another knock on the door.

"Come in."

The door was pushed open, a girl in a neat uniform, with a proper posture, bowed:

"Hello, I am Athena Smiths, your new secretary!"

Seeing Athena Smiths, Berklee suddenly had a bad premonition, but looking at her good character made Berklee suppress all the anger in his heart.

"Axella, help me guide her to work, I'm going out for a while."

"Okay, Mr. Williams."

Based on a long time of acquaintance, Axella understood, Berklee Williams was angry: Daring to dance on top of the tiger's head, there is only the old tiger. Chairman, you are indeed powerful.

Looking at Berklee walking out with murderous intent, Athena Smiths immediately knew: her CEO was angry. She didn't even glance at Berklee.

Outside the door, Berklee called his father, "Dad, what do you mean? You suddenly want to find a secretary for me, and are so ugly and rigid?"

On the phone, Jone Williams and his wife were on vacation in the Maldives, "Stupid kid! In the past, so many people didn't satisfy you! This time, let me change your taste, she will serve you carefully."

"Dad! Why are you so perverted like this?"

"Please be satisfied with yourself, Athena Smiths was taken by me from someone else's company, if it wasn't for my father's respect, people wouldn't let Athena Smiths go! I tell you know, be a little polite to her, this time, just let Athena Smiths resign on her own, can't let you fire her!"

Jone Williams finished speaking and then hung up the phone forcefully. Berklee was angry to the point of grinding his teeth.

Athena Smiths, right? I will "take care" of you very carefully.

Berklee Williams still maintained the same cold face as he returned to the office. At this time, Axella had taken Athena Smiths to get acquainted with the job, she was currently sitting at the desk looking at the important issues left by the previous secretary.

Hearing a knock on the door, Athena Smiths raised her head and glanced at Berklee Williams walking towards her. The first time we met, it was not so friendly. Athena Smiths did not have a good impression of this young CEO, but because the work had become a habit, she still gave him a professional smile and stood up to say "Mr. Williams".

Because Berklee Williams was standing in front of her, due to the professional spirit, the Athena Smiths could not sit down, and could only wait for Berklee Williams to leave. But Berklee deliberately wanted to fight her, so he stood in front of Athena Smiths' desk and carefully assessed his secretary that his father brought to him. Almond eyes, red lips, high and straight nose, thin chin, fair skin, undeniably, Athena Smiths was very beautiful. Although very beautiful, there was no gentleness and softness like a girl, and there was no overwhelming strong mettle like Berklee Williams, not bad, this was Berklee's assessment about Athena Smiths.

"Mr. Williams, may I sit down and work?"

Athena Smiths looked Berklee in the eye, with no fear, no arrogance, no humility, well done!

"Of course."

Berklee Williams told Athena Smiths to sit down, she immediately withdrew her smile and began to sit down to work, lazily not wanting to leave even a single smile with Berklee: Well, let's see what your tricks are, good horseback here!

Oh, it looked like this Athena Smiths was also very interesting, if so, let's try to fight each other.

The great game had only just begun.

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
