Marrying the Mayor's Daughter: A Mafia Love Story Chapter 1 Leader of De Cecco

.... Leo....

May 2nd of 2019

Sicily, Italy

"Leo, I can't believe that you became don over night at twenty -one." Mikey said who is my second right hand man now.

My father has been having health issues due to all that pasta he eaten over the years.

Calories am I right?

Shit, I love my pasta and all Italian food so, I make sure that I that I work out faithful. My father made fun of me about it, but now who laughing you old fart.

Azeglio Servi (Godfather of the Mafia in Italy and some expansion within America) requested me late last night after my stubborn old man died. Now, he was in his Eighties. Before people start judging me about calling him old and stubborn. He was old school Italian man in is eighties.

My father was the leader of the De Cecco family in Sicily, Italy and since I was the oldest and the only male in the family. It was time for me to take my rightful place to take his spot in the ranks. I did have a younger sister only by three years and we had different mothers.

My father was married to my mother, who is still living and breathing as well as much younger than my father.

He had a fling with a hooker and got her pregnant, next thing we knew baby girl dropped off at our doorstep.

My mother was and still is a good woman. She took care of Isabella as she was her own. Some thought she was hers.

Anyways, last night was I was crown don for the De Cecco's family in which I know is not going well with some of the other families.

"He too young."

"Young people today, think their entitled"

Blah... Blah... Blah...

The Godfather made all of the families swear that they will not touch me because I am just young. If I was going to be stupid and do something to get myself killed then hell with it, 'see ya, kid'. Godfather's words not mine.

I invited Mikey since he was my best friend apparently his girlfriend has her cousin visiting from America so, he brought them along with him. He showed them to the gardened before searching for me on the property.

"I was sworn in at one in the fucking morning." I said to him as I noticed a young woman walking backwards talking to someone that I couldn't see behind the bushes. Mikey smiled as his girlfriend came into view to him, "I am going to marry her."

I smirked at him as we walked towards the garden slowly, "I am sure you will. You said her cousin is here with you." He nodded, "She from America, Annabella but Sophie calls her Anna or Bella." I nodded when I stopped in my tracks when I see the most beautiful girl in my life walking towards Sophie when she looked towards me.

She was short but stood tall with confidence. Her beautiful dark blue eyes looked into mine as her brown chestnut hair blew in the wind along with her long sundress that covered her thin body from the world. Her smile was the brightest thing in this world I have seen. My god I could see my children.

Mikey nudged me as she walked up to us with Sophie, "Dude what the hell she is like sixteen." I shrugged my shoulders as I whispered to him, "That is like what only four years apart. Besides, as soon as she eighteen then you know." He groaned as they got closer to us, "Don't do anything to hurt her, Sophie will have my head."

I chuckled, wuse. Sophie smiled, "Anna, this is my boyfriend's best friend, Leo" I placed my hand out to her as she blushed, my god. She is cute, adorable even. When did I start using cute and adorable? I am a big Mafia man, shit my father has trained me since I was a little boy to take over for him. He just didn't realize that he not going to live forever.

"Nice to meet you, Bella." I said as I made her face redder. KILL ME NOW. Come on you old fucks that said I am too young to lead a family, kill me now because this woman just stole my heart.

She is also making something else twitched which 'hey you in my pants, down boy. She not eighteen. Two more years, Behave.'

She gave me as small smile, "Nice to meet you, too. Leo." Christ, her voice is just as sweet as her face. Someone hates me up there right now, I can tell. I placed my arm around her shoulders as Mikey did to Sophie as we walked towards the house.

"You are from America; Mikey was telling me? I asked as she smiled. She said in the most angelic voice, "I am. Boston to be exact." Awe, I thought the accent sounded familiar. No Rs for this girl. I smirked at her as I play it in my head saying in the best Italian Boston accent I can, 'pak the ca in havad yad.'

I nodded, "When do you go back?" She bowed her head, "Tomorrow. I am hoping to go to school here for my senior year of high school then maybe college." I tilted my head to her as Sophie and Mikey are kissy, kissy faces, "Do you have a major that you wanted to look into?" She turned to me as she brushed her hair behind her ear, "Art. I like to paint, and I want to own my own Art Gallery one day."

I can understand why she wants to study art here in Italy we scream of art. I mean come on we have Michelangelo, Raphael, Sandro Botticelli. That is just start with a few of them.

Oh, if you are wondering who Sandro Botticelli is well, he was Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi. He was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance.

Yes, I know a thing and two of art and who creates them. Look him up, you will be surprise what work he done. Dante's Hell might come into mind.

I nodded as I don't want this day to end. Okay, she here for life. No and or but, she staying. I am locking her away. Fuck I can't do that. But can't I now. No. She would hate me. I don't want her to hate me.

"Make sure to come visit me when you come back for schooling." I teased her. She smiled at me that reached her fucking eyes. Damn, I didn't see that birthmark there right under her eyes. "Of course, I will, Leo." Oh god, stop calling my name Bella. I am going to lose it. Call me dipshit or something else not.

She turned to me as she placed her hand into mine, "I heard about your father. I just wanted to say how sorry I am about your lost." KILL ME SOMEONE PLEASE. She is so sweet and innocent. Wait little one, just wait. As soon as you are eighteen you are mine.

I placed my hand on the back of my neck as I gave her a small smile of appreciation, "Thank you, Bella." She patted my hand when I pulled her into me. She gasped when I wrapped my arms around her. She hesitated for a moment then wrapped around me as she rubbed my back as she was comforting me from the loss of my father. Too fucking innocent. I am going to corrupt her too soon if I am not careful.

I said goodbye to my Bella, and Sophie as Sophie gave me a wink and Mikey slapped my chest. I snarled at him, "She winked at me." Mikey shook his head, "That was for touching Anna." I chuckled at him as we walked back to the house from the driveway, "What. I only gave her a hug and a kiss on the forehead. That was it." He rolled his eyes at me, "Who do you want to send to watch over her?" I smirked at him as he knew me too well.

I can't watch her myself because I will go completely nuts by not touching her. I have some work to be done here. I need to toughing myself up. If my enemies finds out about her.

I am screwed.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
