"Never in Linda's wildest dreams did she expect to meet a man falling from the sky. It wasn't his attractive face that shocked her, but rather his strange outfit. He looked similar to the actors that played in ancient historical dramas Carl was an emperor who time-traveled after almost dying from the betrayal of a woman he once trusted. When he saw Linda, he felt at ease something he had never felt around anyone before. Her voice seeped in its magic and relaxed his tensing body. Because of her agility and skills in fighting, she became his bodyguard. When she thought everything was going well, she didn't expect herself to end up in a troubled romance."

Bonny Bodyguard: Work For Mr. Trouble Chapter 1 Disturbance At The Interview

It was a cold, early summer night. The crescent moon shone faintly in the dark night sky, waiting to be devoured by the dark clouds.

A light wind blew across, and in the street, the lonely girl wrapped herself in her black leather coat. Her pink face, dripping with sadness, was hardly visible under the moonlight.

The wine red hair touched her waist, and lit the dark night around her.

The misty starlight revealed her beautiful lips and delicate porcelain skin.

But her eyes twinkled with sadness, and her little pouted mouth was full of regret and displeasure.

"Argh!" She let out a helpless shout into the dark lonely night.

His helpless shout echoed in the quiet night sky. The small stone lying on the ground was kicked away by her.

"Damn it! All I had to do was be cold and aloof, but instead, I made myself look like a rowdy woman with no manners!"

She stared at the crescent moon in the sky with watery eyes. He would have had such a bad impression of her.

"Crap..."

With a plaintive sigh, she pursed her lips in disappointment. She had wanted to show him the best side of her. There were thousands of scenarios in which they could have met, but they ended up meeting in the worst situation.

Thinking of the interview earlier that day, she wished she could return to the past and change everything.

Early that morning, Linda Xia made sure to dress perfectly. She straightened her suit and smiled at her reflection in the mirror. Yes, she looked like a capable and mature woman. When she finally arrived for the interview, Linda Xia saw that all the other applicants were male.

She shook off the discouraging thoughts. This was the best chance for her to be next to him all the time. She had to get selected by all means!

Ignoring the suspicious looks from the other applicants, she waited in line anxiously.

"Next!"

It was her turn. Linda Xia took a deep breath and walked to the manager.

"Hello! My name is Linda Xia. This is my resume..."

The manager stared at her, with no intention of accepting her resume. He shook his head helplessly.

"Really? A woman? Don't you think you are in the wrong place, lady? This is the interview to select the CEO's personal bodyguards, not his secretary. Don't waste our time. Next!"

The men behind her burst into laughter.

The smile on Linda Xia's face slowly faded. Although she had half the mind to whack the manager, she persuaded herself not to be impulsive.

"Get out of the way, little girl!"

The applicant behind Linda Xia smirked and reached out to push her away. Just as his hand was about to touch her, there was a crisp sound of a bone breaking cleanly, followed by an unmanly scream.

The hall instantly quieted down, and everyone looked at the woman's slender figure.

So, what had happened? Before the man could lay his hand on her, Linda Xia had quickly turned around and grabbed his arm, breaking his wrist. The man howled in pain.

Shoving aside the whining man, Linda Xia snorted. He was muscular, but so weak. Yet he dared to apply for a bodyguard's position. The best he could ever be was a security guard!

Turning back to the stunned manager, Linda Xia slammed down her resume on the table. Then, she threateningly stepped on the chair with one foot. The sneer on her face stayed, and it made the manager in front of her sweat subconsciously.

"I implore you to take a look at my resume. Your company is recruiting bodyguards-people with some good fighting skills, I assume? Does it matter if it's a man or woman? You are pretty conservative for a man of your position. You don't think a woman could be a bodyguard? You think I'm not as strong as all these men here? Don't you think you are being a little too unprofessional? You won't even look at my resume before dismissing me as unqualified."

The manager's face turned red at her words, but he didn't want to lose face in front of so many people. His face darkened quickly.

"Are you trying to create a scene? If you don't leave, I'll call the security!"

Just as Linda Xia was about to lose her temper, the main door flew open and several men in suits walked out one after another.

"Boss! Good morning, boss!"

The interviewers, including the manager, stood up in an instant and nodded in greeting. The applicants too stared at the CEO.

Linda Xia's rosy face flushed instantly. She quickly removed her leg from the chair and didn't even dare to look up at the person in front of her. She could only pray that he hadn't witnessed the scene just now, although she knew that it was almost impossible.

"Jim!" A voice rang through the silent room. "She is pretty bold and brave. Hire her. Arrange the appointment and join me in the meeting room later."

Francis Jian looked at Linda Xia, who had her head lowered. He smiled and walked past her. Jim Han nodded and stood beside her, a look of pure disdain in his eyes.

Francis Jian's sharp eagle-black eyes swept over the executives, making their legs go weak. They bowed and nodded.

"Clear the site!" Jim Han ordered.

As soon as Francis Jian left, Linda Xia breathed a sigh of relief. The moment she raised her head, she looked straight into Jim Han's deep black eyes. A single glance into those abyss-like gaze sent goose bumps down her spine.

"Tomorrow morning. Nine o'clock. Be there on time."

Saying that much, Jim Han walked towards the direction in which Francis Jian had left. Linda Xia stuck out her tongue at his cold back. Although things did not go smoothly as she had planned, the result was the same. She had succeeded!

But when she thought back about her very first meeting with Francis Jian, she felt depressed.

"Ah..."

Linda Xia sighed again and stopped to look at the crescent moon in the sky.

"Oh dear moon, would he think I'm a vulgar woman? This is all your fault! What should I do tomorrow? This is so embarrassing."

She continued to complain to the innocent moon and the moon blinked back at her silently, while a black shadow slowly fell over Linda Xia's head from above.

"Huh? What's going on? Is something-Nah... I am tired and hallucinating," she murmured to herself.

Linda Xia blinked and rubbed her tired eyes. At the same time, a black figure smashed into Linda Xia and she fell to the ground with a loud thud.

"Ouch!"

she screamed. Something was on top of her and she was pressed to the ground, suffocating under the weight. The first thought that came to her mind was that her spine was probably broken.

"What the hell, moon? I was just complaining a little, and you smashed something onto me. You are so narrow-minded!"

Linda Xia murmured and rubbed her head. Fortunately, she was tough. Or else, she would have been crushed to death by the force of the fall. And if she hadn't been distracted earlier, this thing wouldn't have smashed into her. And it was not like she was expecting this thing to fall from the sky!

Linda Xia tried to push aside the heavy object on top of her. But when she finally saw what was on her body, her slender hands stopped midair as if possessed by magic.

Under the faint moonlight, she saw the beautiful face of a man.

His waist length black hair covered half of his face, but she could still see his fair skin and facial features.

Linda Xia blinked in panic. 'An angel?' she wondered hysterically. 'A god? Did this being just fall from the sky?' This was too outrageous to believe, but either way, the being was too heavy.

Linda Xia carefully pushed the man to the ground, and oxygen filled her lungs instantly. She took a few deep breaths and sat up with her hands on the cold ground.

The man's long jade-like hair slid down to the ground, revealing a face that almost choked Linda Xia to death. She slowly raised her hand to touch that seductive face.

At first glance, he looked like he was fast asleep. His sleeping face was elegant, hiding all his emotions under the expressionless feature.

His thick eyelashes softened his strong outline, and there seemed to be deep thoughts between his slightly frowned eyebrows.

'Is he even human?' Linda pondered. She was still in a daze as she continued to study his face. Long nose, thin lips. Such perfectness. How could a man be so beautiful? And how the hell did he just fall from the sky?

Linda's heart raced.

She extended her hand and touched his chest, quickly withdrawing it in panic. Her fair face instantly flushed. 'Wow, I'm taking advantage of a sleeping man!'

Her rapid heartbeat was somewhat similar to the time when she had first seen Francis Jian. She touched her heart and felt the rapid beating. How could her heart beat faster every time she saw a handsome man?

Linda sighed helplessly and studied the man's outfit. Her eyes widened in astonishment.

The ornate bright yellow clothes were embroidered with exquisite patterns, and there was an unusually hard golden belt around the waist. The clothes looked similar to those from an ancient TV drama!

My best friend Kevin invited me to his dad' s 60th birthday, a big celebration because his dad had terminal cancer. My wife, Olivia, couldn't make it; she was on a two-week work trip in Europe, a crucial conference for her career. But when I arrived at the party, I saw Olivia, kneeling before Mr. and Mrs. Miller, performing a "daughter-in-law tea" ceremony, dressed in a way I' d never seen. Then I heard Kevin' s relative say, "Kevin is so lucky. His fiancée is just wonderful." Fiancée. The word crushed me. Olivia' s practiced smile froze when she saw me. She pulled me aside, whispering, "Ethan, what are you doing here? It's not what you think." Kevin then appeared, claiming it was a "little white lie" for his dying father, wanting to see him settled. Olivia eagerly agreed, pleading with me to keep quiet, "just for today." They stood there, my wife and my best friend, united in their deceit, asking me to participate in my own humiliation. A cold clarity washed over me. "For your dad's dying wish? Does his dying wish also include a grandchild to complete the 'four-generation' picture? Are you pregnant, too?" The air turned to ice. Olivia recoiled, then feigned outrage, calling me "cruel." Her gaslighting was instant. Later that night, I went home to retrieve belongings and found them passionately kissing on my couch. "It's... it's not what it looks like!" she gasped, but I pulled out my phone, recording, "Save it for the judge. I want a divorce. And I'm keeping the dog."

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

I thought I was waking up in the arms of Arthur, the man I loved. But as the morning light hit the Hamptons estate, the man buttoning his cuffs by the window turned around with eyes like chips of ice. It was Augustus Riddle, Arthur’s cruel younger brother, and I had just spent the night whispering confessions of love into the wrong man's ear. The night I thought was a beautiful beginning turned into a devastating nightmare. Instead of comfort, Gus treated me like a stain on his expensive carpet, scribbling a check for "services rendered" before shoving me into a dark service corridor to hide my existence from his brother. "How much does it cost to buy your silence?" He sneered, before leaving me barefoot in a torrential downpour while he drove away in a luxury Cadillac. Four years later, I am a struggling actress in Los Angeles, working double shifts as a barista just to keep the lights on. My life was finally stable until my roommate dragged me to a high-end dinner to meet her new "influential" boyfriend. The man sitting at the table, looking more arrogant and lethal than ever, was Augustus. He spent the entire night humiliating me, calling me a pathetic amateur and a social climber in front of my only friends. When I fled into the rain and collapsed on the sidewalk, skinning my knee until I bled, he watched from his car. He saw me clutching a plastic baggie containing the taped-together pieces of that four-year-old check—the only proof of my shame. He looked at me like roadkill, rolled up his window, and drove off into the dark. I couldn't understand why he was doing this. Why did he hate me enough to crush me, yet remember that I couldn't handle the smell of cigarette smoke? Why did he leave me bleeding in the street, only to send expensive medical supplies and coffee to my door the very next morning? "I'm moving out." I told my roommates, realizing that Gus Riddle didn't just want to destroy me; he wanted to haunt me. I grabbed my suitcase and walked out with eighty dollars to my name, finally ready to disappear into the city before he could burn the rest of my life to the ground.
