He stepped forward again, his gaze hardening "If you don't leave now, if you don't get away from him, things will get worse. You've already seen the signs." Lena was shocked by his words . She had seen the signs of flashes of light in her dreams, the way Adrian had come into her mind so clear when she painted his face, the feeling she knew him from somewhere yet they'd never met. How could this man know? How did he know what she saw? With that, Marcus spun around and started walking away; his heel slammed hard on the tile flooring in the hall. Lena blinked then belatedly called out as he was disappearing into the hallway, "Wait!" She stepped into the hall from her open apartment door. "What do you mean 'danger'? What's going on? Who are you? But Marcus didn't stop. He went on, steadily, at his usual gait, in a way as though he had not heard her at all. Lena hesitated, her feet frozen in place by fear and doubt. She took a single step forward, but the moment her foot hit the floor, Marcus glanced back at her. Lena stood there, frozen, staring at the space where he'd just been standing. Her heart was racing like mad.
