Emma raised an eyebrow, her confusion deepening. "A job?" she asked in confusion. "Yeah," he replied, his face still serious. "I'm a handyman, you see. I heard someone just moved into town and might need some help around the house. Thought I'd offer my services," he said, bursting into laughter when he couldn't pretend anymore. Emma couldn't help laughing when she realized he was joking. "A handyman, huh? Well, lucky for you, I could use some help unpacking," she said, and Chris grinned wider. "Perfect. I'm hired for the day, then," he said and Emma shook her head in amusement as she opened the door wider to let him in. They spent the morning together, Chris helping Emma organize her things and clean the apartment, making the work easier and faster for her. Once they were done, Chris stretched his arms, his grin never faltering. "Alright, now for my payment," he said, and Emma raised an amused brow. "Payment?" she asked, and he nodded. "Yep," he said, standing up straight and dusting off his hands. "I expect lunch in return for my hard work. That's not too much to ask for, is it?" he asked, and Emma chuckled. "Fine, fine.
