Esther is a cool seventeen-year-old girl who just got admitted to Kingdom High. Her mom Mrs Alex is a single mother who has been taking care of her since her dad left them both.
Together with her mom was her aunty Miss Silver who would always come through for her when she needed anything.
Mrs Alex’s dream was to attend the famous Kingdom High as it is the most prominent school in the country. Esther too had the same goal but since her dad left them at age 5, her dreams of Kingdom High were strewn.
Esther could not understand what was happening with her family but her mom kept assuring her dad would come back one day.
Esther grew up alone with her mom from childhood still believing her dad would come back. It took almost forever and Esther started losing hope already as he never called nor answered calls after a while.
Esther and her mom together with her sister had to surfer though her father had a lot of money but never wanted to see any of them ever.
This incident made Esther start writing whenever she felt depressed or less important. She hated her father for abandoning them and making them suffer telling her mom “One day, dad will look for us and we will not give him any attention, I will make you proud, taking you to wherever you want.”
Her mom was stirred by her speech and cried in agony and soreness. She still had it in mind to make her daughter attend the best institution and make her proud.
Mrs Alex had to go to the Montage bank to get a loan to enrol Esthert in the well-known Kingdom High. She had this dream as a child but her mom or dad could not help her attend the institution and she wanted to create an incredible difference.
Mrs Alex stringently told her sister Miss Silver not to mention this to her daughter. Though Miss Silver would never buy the idea of her getting a loan she had no choice since it had to do with Esther’s happiness.
However, Esther hearing that her mom was enrolling her in Kingdom High though she was to start senior year 2 was shocked.
Her mom did not earn that much to enrol her in such an expensive institution. “How did you make this amount Mom?” Esther inquired but her mom lied;
“My boss decided to give me money to enrol you in a better school knowing about your grades. He complimented that your grades were the best he has ever seen and that this kind of intelligence should be encouraged.”
Her lies got Esther being that Esther was indeed intelligent and would outstand the whole school. She had never gotten any competitor over in the government school where she attended.
Esther although happy was also scared of starting Kingdom High as the institution had much competition.
She wondered to herself if she will for real make her mom proud of her. Her mixed feelings made her pick up her pen. She could remember people who she would be missing in her old institution like Luke (Her Ex).
Luke was a nice guy but had his flaws. He dated both Esther and her best friend behind her but when Esther knew about that, she did away with the relationship.
“Nothing hurts anymore, not even the worst things I know so. Dad left when I wanted him the most and Mom is lonely.
I have learned to keep my heart locked and love less; I do not give more attention to those who are not worth it. I guess I am now a pro in doing away with the old ones” she wrote.
Esther closed her diary, put it back in her bag, and hung it on the hanger at the echo of footsteps approaching her room.
She pulled the door open and surprisingly, she saw Silver. She glared away with a sigh. “What’s that for?” Silver gasped.
“I thought it was Mom approaching so I quickly hid my diary, I did not want her seeing its contents,” Esther replied as Silver sighed.
“Hope you are not writing about a boy this time? I can remember the last time I read your diary, I could see Luke all over it,” Silver teased.
“Stop it Silver, you are getting annoying, I had no feeling for Luke anyway,” She groaned.
“Ya, that's what everyone says after a breakup, I never did have any feelings for my ex too,” Silver whispered as they both laughed.
“Seriously, I am so not like you aunt, I did love Luke but he was just too much and I could not take his attitude anymore so I had to call it off.
Can you believe Luke was in a relationship with me and my best friend and she kept it from me?” Esther muttered.
Silver stuttered at what she said and could not help herself but laughed. Esther felt a little annoyed by her laughter but it was worth it.
“I’m sorry, I did not mean to laugh but he is a pro in breaking up friendships, he just knew your friend liked him so he decided to mess with the both of you.
