The Best Friend s Contract

Three weeks before he was supposed to arrive, I'd never thought about him in that way. My father told me his name is Ace Hardens, he'd been Vice Admiral in the Navy. He's a few years younger than my father was, so I'd expect a pleasant surprise. The two of them have been best friends since middle school. My grandparents and his grandparents lived next door to each other, and ever since they've stood thick as thieves. While my father grew up to become a famous literature professor, Ace had taken off to the Navy. At first, he'd only gone because of a scholarship, but then he, and others above him saw his potential to go further along.

He's been there for ten-plus years serving, now he's decided to retire. Seeing as he's young and has already accomplished his goals in life, he finds it's time for something to change.

He and my father have been keeping in touch, so it's very exciting to him that we will have a familiar friend around for a while.

These last few weeks have been a run-around for us, meaning my dad running me all around. He decorated the guest room due to the room was meant for a friend of my mine that was staying at one point. Currently, the room is beige and black, meant for anyone who stays.

It's around five pm, Ace is meant to arrive soon so I begin to prepare dinner. I'm making peppered steak, rice, and gravy, it's one of my favorite meals to cook. I love almost any meal with rice and gravy, it's a weakness for me. When my mom was still alive she made this meal for me whenever I accomplished anything. Slicing up bell peppers I toss them in adding an aroma to the juice created by the peppers. I breathe it in loving the smell, getting excited to eat as I continue preparing dinner. About an hour later, dinner is finished, and now we're waiting on the apple crumble pie to finish baking.
