Sarah's POV
"Shit" I dropped the glass I was holding immediately and held my bleeding palm.
The glass made a loud noise from hitting the ground so hard and shattered into pieces.
"Oh no!" I stared at it in shock.
Martha was going to have my head for this one.
I bent down to pick up the pieces when I heard footsteps approaching and tried to work faster.
"What are you doing?" Frances, a fellow maid asked in a sharp tone and I remained mute.
She walked closer to my hunched figure and forcefully yanked my hand aside.
"What have you done?" She yelled.
"I ask you to help me out for a few minutes and you decide to break the entire dinnerware?"
"Get out." She pushed me, causing me to fall on my bottom.
"You can't do anything properly." She hissed.
I sat there with my head down, trying to will myself not to cry. No, I won't cry, not in front of her. I won't give her that satisfaction.
"Well what are you waiting for?" She asked, annoyed.
"Get out!" She bellowed
I scrambled to get up on my feet and made my way out of the kitchen.
"And you better report to Lucia, She's asked for you."
I halted my movement. No, not Lucia, Please.
What could she possibly need me for?
I made sure to clean her room and did everything she asked already.
Lucia, the she wolf betrothed to the Alpha, Alpha Jackson was a big bully and a huge pain in my ass. She had a personal vendetta against me, although I wasn't sure what exactly I did to her.
She wasn't the Alpha's fated mate though.
There were once rumors that she was behind Alpha Jackson's mate's disappearance but they were never confirmed. My sister, Lyra, had also disappeared around that time.
I never understood why she left or what exactly happened to her.
Moreover, Lyra and the Alpha seemed happy enough. It seemed he never questioned the rumors.
At this point I was convinced that she bullied me for fun and not because of my father's treason.
I made my way towards her quarters and knocked twice on the door.
"Come in" I heard her haughty voice.
I stepped into the room and closed the door behind me.
"You asked for me."
"What's that tone I'm hearing?" She snapped.
"Are you forgetting your place, traitor?"
"No Miss, I'm sorry." I said quickly.
She stayed silent for a while and then broke into a laugh.
"You're really something you know."
"You have the audacity to steal from me and then walk in here with an attitude."
My eyes widen and I immediately try to refute her claims.
"No Ma'am, I'm sorry Miss... I - I - I didn't steal from you. I - I wouldn't dream of it." I stammered out.
"Are you accusing me of lying?" She gave me a challenging look.
"N - n - no Miss. I didn't mean it that way."
"You ingrate!" She bellowed and stormed towards me.
I mentally prepared myself for her attack before she reached me.
She grabbed my hair drawing tears to my eyes and pulled me along with her.
"Calling me a liar!" She dragged me to her bedside drawer. The one she had warned me days ago to stay away from.
