THE LUNA'S CAMP: CROWN OF THE FORGOTTEN MATE Chapter 1 BORN INTO BETRAYAL

Celestia's voice.

"Push Luna! push!!" The midwife's voice vibrated into a guttural growl.

Thickened sweat rolled down my forehead, my insides stretched with a hurt that rivaled my first shift.

My jaw tightened so hard and the fluorescent lights above me flickered.

"This isn't working, we'll need to perform a C-section," I heard the doctor say through a blur of pain.

"But the Alpha isn't here yet, we can't do anything unless he signs off on it,"

"He still isn't here yet!"

I swallowed.

Raphael wasn't here yet...what..what could be more important than this? Then the birth of our first child?

He wouldn't... no...no...I'm sure that woman has her limits, she wouldn't keep him away.

With my draining strength, I contacted him through mindlink, mates could contact each other through any distance with mine link.

"Raphael, where are you? Our pup..."

"Medea is also in labor, she needs me right now."

I sucked in a deep breath.

"But I'm your mate, this is our baby I'm talking about."

"My parents will be there for you but Medea is an orphan with no one, she needs me more than ever. I can't leave her now."

Tears welled in my eyes, I knew nothing I said would make him choose me over his first love.

Another wave of contractions hit me.

I screamed, and the doctor yelled out a skewed push.

I inhaled deeply, every inch of me trembling.

This wasn't the time to exchange words.

"Raphael, the doctors say I need a C-section-"

"No," He whipped back before I could finish, "You will not humiliate me by getting a C-section. All Alpha children are born through natural birth that's how it has always been, you're not the exception,"

My tears pooled up.

"I'm in so much pain...Raph..please..."

"My mother did it, so did my Grandma. I will allow you to spit on the Ashen Alpha family name. Give birth the normal way or else I won't acknowledge that pup as my own,"

After that he cut off the connection, blocking me from his mind while my body was wrecked with contractions

Through heavy breath, I told the doctors that we should continue with the route of natural birth.

"I want to have my pup the right way," I said, fighting back tears.

With doubt clouding his eyes and that of the nurses aiding her the doctor reluctantly agreed.

Three more hours of screams, sweat, and blood as I drifted between life and death were broken by the wet cry of my pup.

His cry bounced off the walls of the delivery room, and my heart swelled with pride. That was a strong sign of a healthy powerful pup.

"May the moon goddess light remain on you," the doctor said to me.

Soon my baby was placed in my arms.

He had been sniffling before but he calmed after he was placed on my chest.

My whole body felt like jelly, but I was drenched with joy seeing my pup.

"What will you name him?" A young nurse asked curiously as he peeked to look at the pup, the Doc chastised him.

"Mind yourself, she is still the Luna,"

"It's alright," I said understandingly, my eyes still on my precious little bundle of joy.

"His name will be Asher-"

"I think Jaxon packs a punch to it,"

My whole body stiffened as I looked up and met the eyes of Eclipse, Medea's younger sister.

She had once been my personal maid, a long time ago.

"How dare you barge in here?" The doctor snapped at her, Eclipse just rolled her eyes, shoved the doctor as if she were no more than a straw man then matched over to me.

I wrapped Asher protectively and she sneered.

"What you're not even going to let me get a good look at my nephew?"

My entire face bleached.

"What nephew?!" I blurted back in her face. "Get your eyes checked, this is my son,"

"But he has blonde hair, just like my sister."

I can't believe I'm even having this insane argument.

"So what? Get out of here! Guards drag this wench out of my sight!" I screamed ignoring the strain running through my body.

"A pup thief calling me a wench, what an irony, I came here because of our past to lend you a hand after you dug yourself into a pit ..."

"Guards!"

The guards finally came.

But not for Eclipse.

They pulled me from the hospital bed despite the protests of the doctor.

My pup was torn from my arms and placed into the hands of a traitor, my eyes bulged with rage and panic mixed.

If I weren't weakened by twelve hours of labor I could take these two guards without sweating.

My pup broke into a cry as soon as he was taken from my arms and the volume spiked up when Eclipse held him.

"Eclipse," I warned, "Return my pup...and I'll spare your life,"

She laughed, the sound an aggravating chuckle.

"I'm shaking in my boots," she waved to the guards, "Take her away,"

"Let me go! That's MY pup!"

But hours of labor ending with insane bleeding had drained me, my outburst didn't help.

Gradually my surroundings were being swallowed by a shadow starting from the corners of my vision.

Frantically I reached out to Raphael through a mind link.

"Raphael...our pup, Medea...please...please respond...the guards-"

"Don't bother." He cut me off. "I'm so ashamed of you, Celestia. I asked you for only one thing when we became mates-don't humiliate me or the Ashen name. Was that too hard to grasp?"

"Raphael...I don't...."

"Don't play dumb, I knew you hated Medea but I couldn't dream you would have gone so far. Don't worry, you'll get what you deserve for everything, and promise you that you'll never place your eyes on that you'll never see that pup again,"

My heart sank.

"No! Raphael, I don't know what they've told you but...the pup is mine I-"

He might have responded.

But I lost consciousness before I could hear it.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.
