Chapter 1 Their Nightmare

In a small apartment in Mocisa Colombia, a young woman sat in front of a mirror with a little girl by her side.

"Mascara". The older woman ordered, and the younger girl passed the mascara to her.. "So you are going to see your boyfriend again".

"What's his name"....

"Xavier Ravenmoor!" The little girl said in excitement, and the older woman laughed.

"Erynna you are being a little brat, when I was your age, I didn't know what a boyfriend was". She said amidst laughter.

"I'm not a little girl anymore Elena".

"I'm twelve years old now".

Erynna said proudly. Elena smiled and picked her sister up. She brushed her brown hair off her face, and chuckled. Erynna was just twelve years old, but she is so smart that one would think she is an adult in the body of a child.

That is one of the reasons why people are charmed by her beautiful face, her sweet smile, and her calm voice.

"I'm going to see Xavier tonight, we have a date planned".

"Be a good girl while I'm away ok?" She said as she hugged the little girl in her arms. Elena dropped her sister and smiled.

"Behave yourself little girl". She said and left.

A few hours later... The door of the apartment opened forcefully, and Elena barged in. Her clothes were all torn, and her body was shaking frantically.

"Erynna!" She called out urgently.

"What happened to you Elena?" Erynna asked immediately. She could see the visible dark spots on Elena's body.

"Look sweetie, some men are going to come and take me away".

"They might hurt me, but I don't want them to lay a finger on you".

"So I want you to hide, hide, and don't make a sound even if you see them taking me away!" Elena instructed.

Erynna nodded even though she didn't understand what was going on. Elena hid her inside a closet.

She knows her sister is afraid of darkness, so Elena created a small space for her to see some light. She wiped her tears, and gave Erynna one last look.

"I love you" she whispered, and immediately the door broke open.

Two giant-looking men walked into the room, and Elena started begging immediately.

"Look, I really don't have anything, just spare me please spare me!" She begged amidst sobs. The men's eyes darkened, and they approached her.

"Please have mercy on me!" Elena pleaded, and one of the men scoffed.

"Mercy?"

"We are in no place to grant you mercy, if you really want to plead for mercy, then you should go to the Ravenmoors". "Elena you should have known better than to mess with a Ravenmoor".

"You just got r*p*d by Xavier, but you'll still end up dying".

"That's what happens to anyone that goes against Vionessa Ravenmoor". The other man chipped in. "Please don't".....

Before Elena could finish her statement, one of the men hit her with a gun, and she fell unconscious. Blood trickled out of her head, and Erynna who was watching from the closet gasped.

"Let's leave her here".

One of the men suggested.

"No!"

"The boss ordered for her to be thrown in the bottom of the sea". The other man said. The two men carried Elena, and they left the room. Erynna, who was still hiding in the closet, couldn't move.

Her eyes were wide open, and was trying to understand what just happened. With shaky hands, Erynna opened the closet, and walked out. She looked at the floor, and saw her sister's blood.

The adrenaline began to wear off, and the pain of reality began to set in.

" Elena". Erynna whispered, and fell to her feet.

Her shoulders shook violently, and she cried. All her life, she has been with Elena. Their father died a few months after their mother took in, and their mother died a few minutes after giving birth to Erynna.

Ever since then, Elena has been both a father,a mother, and a sister to Erynna. And now she just watched those men murder, and take her sister away.

Erynna wiped her tears, and left the room. It was late in the night, and she wasn't wearing any thick clothing. Soon, she became cold as the night wind blew her brown hair.

Erynna shook violently, and hugged herself. But soon she couldn't take it anymore, and she passed out.

In a big hospital in the outskirts of Mocisa, a man in his late forties stood with a doctor.

"So how is she?" The man asked.

"Well she seemed to have passed out due to shock, and stress". "But overall, I think she'll be fine in no time". The doctor said and left. The man nodded, and looked at the girl in the hospital bed.

Erynna's eyes stirred open, and she looked around.

"Easy now". "You're safe". "Erynna you are in a hospital, and you'll be fine". The man said and held her little hand. Erynna nodded. She recognized the man before her. He is the uncle of her friends, and he knows Elena too.

"They killed her". Erynna suddenly said. "What?" The man asked.

"They killed her".

"They murdered her, and threw her in the ocean". She repeated.

"Who?" The man asked.

"The Ravenmoors". Erynna replied, and her eyes turned cold.

Her little hands gripped the sides of the blanket covering her. The man nodded, but he didn't say a word.

A few days later..... The man brought Erynna to his house, since she didn't have anyone else. But he noticed something strange about her.

Unlike the Erynna that he once knew, she wasn't the little girl who had beautiful and hopeful eyes.

Now her eyes were just dark, and filled with pain. She was like a shadow of her own self.

"What do you want, Erynna". The man suddenly asked her. Erynna's eyes darkened, and she spoke for the first time in days.

"I want them to pay".

"I want to make them pay for ruining my life". She said firmly, and the man nodded.

"I knew you would say that, so I have paved the way for you Erynna".

"From this day on, you are no longer Erynna Monte's".

"Your name is Valeria Rune".

"And you are going to get your revenge, that I promise you".

He said, and handed her some papers.

A few hours later, Erynna arrived at a place that she was waiting to see.

The Ravenmoors mansion.

The building stood tall, among the other mansions in the estate. Erynna clenched her fists, and her eyes darkened.

Her eyes mirrored the emotions in her. Pain, anger, and determination.

Those emotions now appeared in the eyes of the twenty-four years old Valeria Rune , who is making her way into the Ravenmoor mansion.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."
