Nova and Theodore's intense relationship was one that was filled with love and ended in pain when she watched him get married to another woman a day after she gave him her virginity. However, life seems to be directing Nova back to Theodore when he unknowingly hires her to be the nanny of his sweet pair of twins, Emile and Ethan. Stuck living under the same roof with the man who fucked up her life, Nova can't wait for the day when she would have earned enough to buy her dream music studio and disappear from his life again. But that plan proves to be more difficult than expected because she falls in love with the kids. Or maybe it's because she can't control her body whenever she gets close to her new boss.... Theodore is a cold-hearted and ruthless CEO, especially after he loses his wife in a car accident. The only ones who get to see him vulnerable are his twins, who he loves more than life itself. He loves his twins so much that when they choose Nova, his hot and sexy ex-girlfriend, as their nanny, Theodore is only happy to oblige their request. As they slowly reignite their feelings for one another, obstacles from their families and Theodore's business arise but what is more damaging are the secrets both of them hide in the darkness that begin to come to light. What will happen when Theodore finds out Nova's connection to his wife's death? How will Nova deal with loving the man behind most of her misfortune? No matter how much Nova and Theodore try to ignore themselves and focus on caring for Emile and Ethan, the connection between them proves too strong. And so does the sexual tension.

The CEOs Fated Nanny Chapter 1 Losing Isabel

Theodore

"Isa wait. Let's talk about this baby, you can't say something like that and just leave," I plead with my wife softly, trying to get her to rethink her decision. Isabel has always been much too stubborn for her own good.

"No! There's nothing to talk about Theodore and you know it," she says calmly while staring at me, daring me to fight her on this.

Usually, at this point I back off and let her have her way but not this time. This time I have to be more stubborn than she could ever be.

"You're not leaving Isabel, I won't let you. How could you even think about leaving us? Are you even thinking about me? Our family? Our children?!" I ask with quiet anger.

She laughs loudly and that makes my blood boil. She knows that Ethan and Emile are in the next room but she makes no effort to avoid disturbing their sleep. Another instance of Isabel being too selfish to be a good mother.

"Am I even thinking about us?" she asks incredulously after her deep laughter. "We both know there is no 'us' Theodore. The farce has gone on for as long as it can and I can finally call quits."

"Isa-"

She puts her hand up to cut me off while pacing up and down the large master's bedroom. I look out the door, concerned that her loud voice is causing a disturbance to our twins.

"And our families? They have gotten what they wanted after forcing us into this loveless marriage. Why keep on going with it when they have moved on?!"

Her sea blue eyes stare at me defiantly.

I want to oppose her, but even I can't deny it. The business between the Renaults and Thompsons that made both families decide to have their heirs marry each other has long since been concluded, leaving Isabel and I to live out the consequences.

I would never have agreed to the arrangement if Isabel wanted no part of it so we both agreed to resign ourselves to a loveless marriage. We have been comfortable going about our lives living under one roof for the past three years. At least, that's what I thought.

"This-this is not what we agreed to Isa," I say quietly as I think of her request for a divorce.

Even though we never fell in love, we developed a unique friendship surrounding our situation and her decision to leave feels like a betrayal.

Her eyes soften as she holds my gaze. "Theodore, I'm sorry for going against our initial agreement. You're a wonderful friend...but I want more. I want my freedom."

I stare into her eyes and I see just how serious she is. If I let her leave, she won't come back. This isn't one of her usual hasty decisions.

"You want your freedom? If I let you leave what do I get from that?" I ask quietly as I walk out of the French windows while massaging my head. I can already feel the headache coming.

Isabel's heels announce her joining me on the balcony.

"Do you remember your life before we got married?" She asks behind me. "Don't tell me you've forgotten that carefree young boy who was in love. You can go back to that time, Theodore. You can leave everything, the kids, the businesses, our families. You don't have to pretend anymore."

As the soft breeze hits my face, I think about the past. Isabel has a point. I was much happier before getting married and inheriting my family's business empire.

A soft smile graces my face as I think of the person behind that happiness but that smile is short-lived when I remind myself how much things have changed.

I turn around to face my wife. "Neither of us are nineteen anymore Isabel!"

I watch as her face hardens and her eyes become fierce once again but I continue. "We have responsibilities to bear. We are parents, we have businesses to run, we can't afford to be so naive Isabel!"

"You might choose to be stuck in a stagnant fucking life cleaning up after babies but I refuse to deal with that! The divorce papers will be here tomorrow morning." She marches out of the room and heads downstairs.

"Isabel!" I bolt after her, fuelled by anger.

Waiting for me on the ground floor is Mrs Jenkins, longtime housekeeper for my family. Her wide eyes and concerned expression make me pause my pursuit.

"Theo-"

"I'll be back. Watch over the kids for me-"

The loud and luxurious sound of Isabel's car engine steals our attention. With my fists clenched in frustration, I sprint out of the house and into my car, racing after Isabel.

She drives carelessly, as someone who has had a chauffeur her entire life. As I swerve after her, I wonder if I should just let her go. It was clear to anybody who knew her that Isabel was not meant to be domesticated. After all, she has always been rebellious and spoiled silly. Maybe dissolving our marriage would be best...

But when I think of Ethan and Emile, my foot presses harder on the gas. I won't allow my children to grow up without the presence of both parents, like I did.

As I trail behind her, my thoughts consumed by desperation and frustration, I watch as Isabel's car suddenly swerves to avoid a vehicle cutting her off.

My heart sinks as I watch it all onfold.

A second later, Isabel's car hits a lamppost, spinning out of control. The sound of glass breaking and metal making contact with metal fills the air.

I slam the brake and jump out of my car, racing to the crash.

"Isabel!" My voice is so raw with pain that I hardly recognize it and a million thoughts run through my head.

I drag open the car door and the world immediately goes silent.

"No...no...no..."

I reach out and wrap my hands around hers in a daze, searching for a pulse or any other sign of life, refusing to believe this is anything but a dream. It becomes harder and harder to deny reality when witnesses surround me and the sound of sirens in the distance grows louder.

Isabel is gone.

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."

I married Clive Harrington, the coldest billionaire in Manhattan, under a strict contract that forbade any emotional burdens. When I needed a high-risk surgery to save my sight, I checked into the clinic alone, hiding the procedure from a husband who saw me as nothing more than a legal asset. I thought I could handle the darkness in silence. But while I was blind and bandaged in my hospital bed, my biological mother called, screaming that if I didn't produce a Harrington heir by the end of the fiscal year, she would cut off the life-saving treatments for my disabled sister. I was crawling on the cold hospital floor, desperately feeling for a cane I had dropped, when I touched a pair of expensive leather shoes. It was Clive. He was supposed to be in London closing a multi-million dollar deal, but there he was, watching his "contract wife" groveling in the dark like a beggar. He didn't walk away in disgust. He carried me to a five-thousand-dollar-a-night VIP suite and sat by my bed, listening in chilling silence as another voicemail from my mother filled the room, calling me a "useless broodmare" who was only worth the trust fund disbursements my marriage secured. I expected him to remind me of Clause 34B or hand me divorce papers now that I was "damaged goods." Instead, I felt his thumb brush a stray tear from my cheek, his presence shifting from a statue of ice into a predatory shield. "I thought I was just currency to you," I whispered, my voice trembling behind the gauze. "Just an investment." Clive didn't answer with words. He picked up his phone and called his head of legal with a single, terrifying command: "Kill the Douglas family’s credit lines. Every debt, every lien—trigger them all. If they want a war, I’ll give them a massacre." As he leaned down to kiss my bandaged forehead, I realized the contract was dead. My husband wasn't protecting an asset anymore; he was hunting the people who had dared to touch what belonged to him.

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.
