It was city gossip that Aiden Elliott, a powerful figure, was old, hideous, and close to death. For money, Millie's greedy father, sly stepmother, and jealous stepsister forced her into marrying this so-called dying man. Refusing to give in, Millie rebelled by spending the night with a male escort-only to find out later he was the very man she was set to marry, the rumored tyrant himself. "I'm old and ugly?" "Impotent?" "You want a divorce?" Aiden wouldn't let her go. From then on, Millie became his cherished wife, pampered and protected, envied by everyone.

Dangerous Seduction: The Man They All Feared Is Mine Chapter 1 Who Put You Up To This

"Dad, have you lost your mind? You expect me to marry into the Elliott household for one hundred million dollars? You want me to become the bride of that dying old man? I won't do it!" Millie Evans snapped.

Her words had barely left her mouth when her father's hand struck her face without mercy.

Jed Evans, her father, was beside himself with rage. "The payment has already been taken. The Elliotts will hold the ceremony in three days. You'll wed Aiden Elliott. You have no say in the matter!"

His voice was laden with regret as he continued, "I should never have gone soft and fetched you from the country all those years ago! Had I left you there, you wouldn't be creating problems at every turn. You wouldn't have had the nerve to take your sister's man. You made the Evans name a joke!"

He glared at Millie and added, "What respectable man would take a disreputable woman like you as his wife? Getting to marry an Elliott is a stroke of luck people dream about! You don't get to say no!"

Linda Evans, Millie's stepmother, spoke up with false worry in her voice. "Jed, calm yourself. Getting worked up isn't good for you. Millie is still young. She doesn't grasp what crossing the Elliott family could mean," she said.

Eliza Evan, Linda's biological daughter, dabbed at pretend tears and chimed in, "If Millie hates the idea so much, perhaps I ought to take her place? After all, if we upset the Elliott family, our family will be destroyed."

This made Jed even angrier. "Stop! She's thoughtless, and you two keep making excuses for her? No more of this talk! She'll marry into the Elliott household!" he declared.

Millie held her burning cheek and spoke through clenched teeth. "I told you, I won't marry him!"

Then Millie bolted for the door.

Linda's expression shifted. "Guards! Stop her! Don't let her get away! Drag her back here right now!" she commanded.

Millie barely escaped the people chasing her. Her heart felt empty and cold.

She made fists with her hands. She swore she would never let them win.

Juliette Shaw, her best friend, was furious for her sake when they talked on the phone.

"Your father has lost his mind! Everyone's heard the stories about Aiden Elliott. He's that ancient, hideous creep whose previous brides-to-be all died. Your dad's throwing you to the wolves for one hundred million Elliott dollars! I can't wrap my head around it. You're his flesh and blood. How can he treat you so badly?" Juliette said, seething.

Millie held her phone in a tight grip. Her heart sank deeper into hopelessness.

Her mother had passed away when giving birth to her.

Jed, her father, had remarried Linda. He had sent Millie to the countryside. Her grandmother had raised her there.

When they finally brought her back to the Evans home, she had still hoped for love from her family.

But Eliza had plotted against her time and again. Her father had favored Eliza blindly. Now he was marrying her off to a dying man. The small amount of love she had kept for her father was completely gone.

"I absolutely won't marry Aiden!" Millie said firmly.

"But your dad took the money already. The Elliotts are holding the wedding three days from now. Can you even get out of this?" Juliette observed with concern.

"Aiden paid one hundred million dollars. The woman he marries must have an impeccable name. If people hear that I was with a different man right before the wedding, he won't marry me. Not if he has any pride at all," Millie said with resolve.

"What? You want to spend the night with someone else? And let people know about it? If Aiden learns his future wife betrayed him before the wedding, won't he take his rage out on your family? Won't that be terrible?" Juliette was stunned by what Millie planned to do.

Millie spoke slowly and coldly. "I want him to turn his anger on them. They've earned whatever comes their way! If I'm headed for doom either way, I might as well go big. I'll drag some of them down with me!"

After that, Millie ended the call. She headed straight to the Azure Hotel.

She had reached out to a nearby nightclub earlier and asked them to send their best male escort to meet her there.

Her heart beat wildly as she thought about her next move. She couldn't stop herself from clenching her fists.

"You gave me no other option!" she murmured to herself.

The hotel's twenty-eighth floor had a long hallway. A door stood partly open there. The room beyond it was black as pitch. It seemed to swallow up all the light.

"Hello? Is somebody in here?" Millie called out as she walked inside.

She reached for the light switch in the darkness. Before she could locate it, a man's hand grabbed her throat like an iron clamp.

A low, threatening voice spoke in her ear. "You dare to plot against me? Who put you up to this?" he demanded.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

I sat in the gray, airless room of the New York State Department of Corrections, my knuckles white as the Warden delivered the news. "Parole denied." My father, Howard Sterling, had forged new evidence of financial crimes to keep me behind bars. He walked into the room, smelling of expensive cologne, and tossed a black folder onto the steel table. It was a marriage contract for Lucas Kensington, a billionaire currently lying in a vegetative state in the ICU. "Sign it. You walk out today." I laughed at the idea of being sold to a "corpse" until Howard slid a grainy photo toward me. It showed a toddler with a crescent-moon birthmark—the son Howard told me had died in an incubator five years ago. He smiled and told me the boy's safety depended entirely on my cooperation. I was thrust into the Kensington estate, where the family treated me like a "drowned rat." They dressed me in mothball-scented rags and mocked my status, unaware that I was monitoring their every move. I watched the cousin, Julian, openly waiting for Lucas to die to inherit the empire, while the doctors prepared to sign the death certificate. I didn't understand why my father would lie about my son’s death for years, or what kind of monsters would use a child as a bargaining chip. The injustice of it burned in my chest as I realized I was just a pawn in a game of old money and blood. As the monitors began to flatline and the family started to celebrate their inheritance, I locked the door and reached into the hem of my dress. I pulled out the sharpened silver wires I’d fashioned in the prison workshop. They thought they bought a submissive convict, but they actually invited "The Saint"—the world’s most dangerous underground surgeon—into their home. "Wake up, Lucas. You owe me a life." I wasn't there to be a bride; I was there to wake the dead and burn their empire to the ground.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
