On our seventh anniversary, I inadvertently stumbled upon a hidden confession in Liam's public Facebook post. It was his unrequited love for Destinee. I realized then that the initials letters on our wedding rings were never meant to stand for Liam and Divya, but for his unwavering longing for Destinee. He was eager to marry me on a holiday, not out of love, but because Destinee was also getting married to someone else that day. "Divya, what is the fuss again?" Liam asked, standing at the door. I turned to face him calmly and said, "Liam, let's break up." He furrowed his brows slightly, trying to snatch the phone from my hand as he entered the room, only to find that I had already saved a screenshot. "Why are you so upset about an old post?"

Chapter 1 Complete Break

On the seventh anniversary of my relationship with Liam Lyons, I unlocked my phone and clicked on his Facebook.

He had never posted an update before, but today he unexpectedly posted one.

He hadn't blocked me. Maybe he forgot to do that.

He only wrote a short line. "We had our wedding on the same day, but the person I married was not you."

The accompanying image was of a man's diamond ring, with two letters engraved clearly on the inside of the band, and it was LD.

I lowered my gaze to the identical ring on my finger.

Liam and I have been in a relationship for seven years, but he never mentioned marriage.

Last month, however, he suddenly came to me with this ring, eager to discuss getting engaged on Independence Day.

I thought my seven years of persistence had finally paid off.

It turned out that I was wrong.

The LD on our wedding rings never stood for Liam and me.

It was for him and his unforgettable first love, Destinee James.

He chose to marry me on Independence Day, not out of love, but simply because Destinee was marrying someone else that day.

How ridiculous!

I stared at the ring and sneered.

The door was unlocked, and Liam came back.

He changed his shoes and immediately saw me sitting on the sofa in the dark. "Why are you acting strangely in the middle of the day? What's the matter now?"

Ignoring his impatience, I raised my head and looked at him calmly. "Liam, let's break up."

"Divya, what are you doing being unreasonable?" He took a few steps toward me, trying to grab the phone from my hand. "We're about to get married. Isn't this what you've always wanted?"

I dodged to the side, shoving the screenshot I had taken in front of him.

The impatience on his face froze the moment he saw the words on the screen.

But soon, he regained his aloof demeanor, not even changing his tone, "You're digging up my previous updates and making a big deal out of them. What's the point?"

What was the point?

I withdrew my phone and told him clearly, "Liam, I'm not marrying you."

His expression finally darkened.

Perhaps my gaze was calm enough to make him realize I wasn't joking.

We stared at each other for a long time.

In the end, he didn't say another word, just coldly said "It's up to you", then turned around and slammed the door and left.

After the resounding bang, silence returned to the house.

I slowly got up, walked into the kitchen, and laid out the steak and vegetables I'd prepared for the anniversary.

With a sizzle, the steak hit the hot pan, its aroma spreading through the air.

After seven years of my youth being wasted, I had to have a good meal to celebrate my new beginning.

"Let's get married," Mia declares, her voice trembling despite her defiant gaze into Stefan's guarded brown eyes. She needs this, even if he seems untouchable. Stefan raises a skeptical brow. "And why would I do that?" His voice was low, like a warning, and it made her shiver even though she tried not to show it. "We both have one thing in common," Mia continues, her gaze unwavering. "Shitty fathers. They want to take what's ours and give it to who they think deserves it." A pointed pause hangs in the air. "The only difference between us is that you're an illegitimate child, and I'm not." Stefan studies her, the heiress in her designer armor, the fire in her eyes that matches the burn of his own rage. "That's your solution? A wedding band as a weapon?" He said ignoring the part where she just referred to him as an illegitimate child. "The only weapon they won't see coming." She steps closer, close enough for him to catch the scent of her perfume, gunpowder and jasmine. "Our fathers stole our birthrights. The sole reason they betrayed us. We join forces, create our own empire that'll bring down theirs." A beat of silence. Then, Stefan's mouth curves into something sharp. "One condition," he murmurs, closing the distance. "No divorces. No surrenders. If we're doing this, it's for life" "Deal" Mia said without missing a beat. Her father wants to destroy her life. She wouldn't give him the pleasure, she would destroy her life as she seems fit. ................ Two shattered heirs. One deadly vow. A marriage built on revenge. Mia Meyers was born to rule her father's empire (so she thought), until he named his bastard son heir instead. Stefan Sterling knows the sting of betrayal too. His father discarded him like trash. Now the rivals' disgraced children have a poisonous proposal: Marry for vengeance. Crush their fathers' legacies. Never speak of divorce. Whoever cracks first loses everything. Can these two rivals, united by their vengeful hearts, pull off a marriage of convenience to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs? Or will their fathers' animosity, and their own complicated pasts tear their fragile alliance apart?
