My husband, Austin Rogers, had been missing for five years, only to return with a royal illegitimate child. His Daughter, His Mistake Chapter 1

My husband, Austin Rogers, had been missing for five years, only to return with a royal illegitimate child.

The first thing he did was burst into my daughter Joanna's room, wrap her in a blanket, and throw her into the sauna.

His sister, Rosita, sneered as she poured a whole box of leeches inside and locked the door.

I rushed over, begging them to let my daughter out.

They glared at me with malice. "How dare you plead? The little princess bruised her leg yesterday. If her mother finds out, we'll all be in deep trouble. You're just envious! You want us to stay trapped in this miserable place with you forever."

At that moment, I finally understood that they intended to use my daughter's life to appease that Slaka Queen.

But their plan was doomed to fail.

The person being bitten by leeches inside wasn't my daughter.

They were about to face the consequences of their actions.

"Paper and pen have been thrown in. Tell Joanna to write 'I'm sorry' ten thousand times for the little princess, Anna. Have her write "I'm sorry" and then read it out loud. If she misses it once, she will never be able to leave the sauna in her life."

These were the first words Austin spoke to me after being missing for five years.

Austin and I had been married for five years when he mysteriously disappeared on the day of our child's birth.

Everyone said he was killed by enemies, but I didn't believe it. I single-handedly took care of his family and our daughter for four years.

Four years later, he finally returned, holding the hand of a little girl.

He said he was swept away by the waves back then and rescued by the Slaka Queen, Katy Spencer.

He also said that they were both single, so it was natural for them to fall in love and give birth to Anna.

Recently, Katy lost her ability to bear children, making Anna the sole heir.

She allowed Austin to return home to fetch his family and enjoy a life of luxury in Slaka.

I have imagined many times what his reaction would be when he came home after five years and saw that I had kept the house in order.

Would he be touched, surprised, or feel sorry for me?

I never expected it to be this disgraceful.

Rosita even took out her phone to start recording, "Did you hear that, you little troublemaker? Hurry up and write. Admit your mistake. I'll play this for Her Majesty when she arrives, so she'll forgive us and only punish your wretched mother. We're finally about to go to Slaka with Austin for a good life, and you two just keep causing trouble."

But what came from inside was not Joanna's crying voice, but Anna's scream.

Joanna had already gone on a picnic with her school. If Austin hadn't been busy coaxing Anna and bragging to his friends since he came back, this blunder wouldn't have happened.

The leeches, poured into the hot, humid environment, writhed wildly, quickly covering the walls and floor, and started gathering towards Anna.

The little princess, raised in a sheltered and privileged upbringing, had never seen such a terrifying scene.

She was scared out of her wits, left only with cries and shouts.

Her voice was so hoarse from tension that even her biological father, Austin, didn't recognize it.

"Still playing tricks on us, huh?" Rosita sneered, unable and unwilling to understand, "Austin, listen! She's deliberately speaking a foreign language to provoke us! Without a sincere apology, she's still playing tricks."

Austin frowned slightly, seemingly trying to discern something.

But he didn't understand Slaka's language. During his time in Slaka, a single glance would tell the servants what he wanted, and he had a dedicated translator when going out, eliminating the need to learn the local language.

I quickly shouted, "Austin! Listen clearly. Inside is Anna. It's the little princess Anna! She can't write in our language and doesn't understand what we're saying. Let her out quickly!"

Rosita was defiant, "Gwyneth! Shut up! This is the result of your indulgence, making Joanna lawless. Thinking she can escape by pretending to be innocent after doing something wrong? No way! If we don't teach her a lesson today, she'll dare to commit crimes tomorrow."

Her words instantly made Austin's hesitation disappear, and he became even angrier.

"Unrepentant!" he barked, then ordered the servant beside him, "Raise the temperature by another 50 degrees Fahrenheit."

I couldn't believe my ears, "Austin, have you lost your mind? It's already 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Raising it more will drive the leeches insane. They'll burrow into human skin. A child's skin is so tender, how can it handle that?"

Rosita scoffed, "Well, so your daughter is precious? We country kids have all seen leeches. Who are you trying to scare? A higher temperature is better. It'll knock some sense into her, so she won't be as foolish as you, unable to distinguish between major and minor issues."

The cries from the sauna reverberated like a heavy hammer on my heart.

Even though it wasn't Joanna inside, it was a helpless child. As a mother, I felt sorry for her.

I picked up the paper and pen left on the floor, "I'll write. I'll write for her. Ten thousand times, is that enough? Just open the door, it's really Anna in there."

My plea seemed to have some effect. Austin looked at the continuously shaking door, and his expression finally softened a bit.

Seeing this, Rosita immediately grabbed his arm, "Austin, don't soften. She's just pretending to trick us. Thinking about Katy and our future. If you soften now, we'll all suffer with her. Our parents worked hard to raise us, toiled their whole lives, and finally have a chance to follow you to a good life. Are you going to let it all be ruined by this woman? We must make her remember this lesson."

This statement completely ignited Austin's fear and greed.

His remaining hesitation was burned away, and he glared at me, his face full of murderous intent.

"Yes! If it weren't for you making Anna fall, would I need to worry about Katy getting upset? Everyone knows Katy dotes on Anna! Turn up the heat! No one is allowed to open the door without my order."

My five-year-old daughter was turning blue in my arms, her body rigid with a 104-degree fever. I called my billionaire husband, Clifton, dozens of times as I rushed to the hospital, but he declined every single call. While I was screaming at doctors and fighting to save our child’s life, a news alert flashed on my phone. Clifton was at the Met Gala, looking devastatingly handsome as he intimately draped his tuxedo jacket over the shoulders of his mistress, Eleanora. The nightmare didn't end at the hospital. Clifton used a secret clause in our prenup to snatch Lily from her bed and move her to a private facility without my consent. When I finally found her, my own daughter shrank away from me in terror. "Go away, bad Mommy!" she sobbed, while the mistress fed her oatmeal and whispered that I was the one who made the doctors hurt her. Clifton stood by and watched, telling me I was too "hysterical" to be a mother. But then I discovered the real reason they were hiding her. My husband was illegally using my late mother’s rare bone marrow samples to treat Eleanora’s secret blood disorder. Now that those samples are failing, he is taking Lily to a secluded castle in Germany to harvest our daughter’s marrow for his mistress. I sat in the dark, watching them play happy family with the child they plan to sacrifice. I realized then that my marriage wasn't just a lie—it was a biological harvest. They think I’m just a broken trophy wife who doesn't understand the science they are using to destroy me. They have no idea that I am "Ghost," the anonymous medical genius behind the very research they are trying to steal. As we board the private jet to Germany, I’ve stopped crying and started calculating. If they want to play with life and death, I’ll show them exactly what happens when a mother stops being a victim and starts being a predator.

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.
