"I've been through heartbreak, and I don't desire love. Even if I marry you, I won't give you love." Lisa stared pointedly at him, " Are you okay with this, President Joseph?" "Then...Let's sign a one-year contract. If after one year we still don't find ourselves compatible, we break it off." **** The Heiress, Lisa Morgan came back home after an ultimate betrayal from her husband of three years, but her father wouldn't let her into his home unless she agreed to his condition. "Take over the company and marry Joseph Bronson, or leave and never come back again!" As a woman who only cares about survival right now, her choice was obvious but she never expected the turbulence that came after.

Chapter 1 Divorce

Chapter 1

Lisa was about to cause a scene, something she had never thought she would do but found herself in the situation.

Her face remained expressionless with her eyes fixed on the hotel entrance, three seconds later, she checked her phone and a small sneer appeared on the corner of her lips,

"Just about time." She muttered coldly.

Without another waste of time, she put on her dark shades, picked up the documents next to her, then climbed down from her car, and stood in front of the entrance of the hotel.

She straightened her back, raised her head and the aura of the wealthy heiress which she had kept hidden spread out from all sides. Like a queen she is, Lisa walked in sharply.

The moment Lisa entered the private room, the people who had smiles on their faces and a look of enjoyment stood stunned as they all looked at the strange woman who had walked in like a queen coming to inspect her territory.

Lisa didn't mind the strange glances from the other people in the large room as her eyes were focused on the cheating couple who were being surrounded.

Her lips curved in a cold arc, then she walked forward gently with her eyes still fixed on them, but the strange thing was that the two people whom she was looking at didn't recognize her, but Lisa could understand.

The people unconsciously divided as Lisa walked forward and only when she had stood in front of the intimate couple did everyone snap back to their senses.

They all looked at her like they were about to pierce her body with their eyes, especially the man who held the waist of a dainty woman.

"Who are you? And don't you feel it's rude to barge into people's parties without any reason?!" The female who seemed to be the one being celebrated today spat as she glared at Lisa in jealousy.

Lisa acted like she didn't see or hear the lady's taunt and only focused her gaze on the man beside her who looked at her in suspicion.

She let out a scoff and her eyes which were under her glasses flashed with sadness, "What? Just how bad was I that after a little dress up, you wouldn't recognise your own wife?"

Lisa's words were like a bomb that was thrown in the middle of a silent chaos. Everyone gasps including Dane, who was Lisa's husband.

"Lisa...?" Dane asked in shock.

Lisa scoffed again, but she didn't respond to his question and turned around to pick up a glass of wine.

"I see you have had too much enjoyment, Dane." She said, then raised the wine glass to the embarrassed lady next to him, before she returned her cold gaze to the man who had been looking at her with surprise.

How long had he seen her dressed like this? Dane couldn't remember but he knew that after he had married her, he had lost the thrill of being with her and whenever he looked at her, all he saw was an unfresh woman.

"You-" Dane snapped back to his senses, then pointed at her, "What are you doing here?! Lisa, do you have to be so desperate? Even tracing me to this place, have you got no shame?!" He yelled angrily at her, then rolled his eyes in disgust.

No matter how much she dressed up, she was still a woman who wasn't useful and had to rely on him to survive.

"I didn't come here for anything, Dane. I only came here so you can sign this document." She said, then stretched out the document to him and he took it and read it with curiosity.

After reading it, Dane's eyes widened in disbelief, he looked at Lisa who looked serious, and then back at the document in his hand again.

"Are you mad?! You want a divorce?! How dare you request a divorce?!" He roared angrily and smashed the divorce papers on the floor as he glared at Lisa.

The crowd in the room gasped in surprise.

Lisa looked at the papers scattered on the floor and bent down to pick them up.

She looked up after she had picked them up, then let out a laugh that sounded so shallow and mocking.

Lisa suddenly clenched the glass in her hand and threw her hand, splashing the contents in the glass on the faces of the cheating couple.

"Ahhh! How could you splash the drink on me?!"

"Lisa!!!"

The first scream was from the mistress, Claire, the secretary of Dane and the other was from her husband.

Lisa glared back at them in rage, her blood boiling as she remembered how much she had sacrificed for this ungrateful man and what he had given in return.

"You ask how I dared request a divorce from a cheater?!" Lisa roared in disbelief, she pressed on and glared at him viciously.

"Three years of devotion, three years of my youth, three years of suffering under your emotional and physical abuse, three years of being treated as nothing by your mother and what you gave me is cheating on me with your secretary?!"

She gritted her teeth so painfully in regret.

She, the heiress of one of the leading families in the country had actually fallen to this point?

She closed her eyes and couldn't help but recall how she had felt when she caught him kissing his secretary in his car on the day of the anniversary. It had been so painful that she wanted to die, but she wasn't taught that way.

If something wasn't meant for her, then she would let it go, but was Dane someone who will eat a loss easily? Well, No!

He looked at the people who watched them like they were animals in the zoo and felt so embarrassed. His eyes spat out fire as he glared at Lisa as she had caused all this.

"You want a divorce? Never!" He roared.

Lisa froze, then suddenly raised her hand and...

SLAP!!

The air in the large room froze, everyone 's eyes focused on Lisa who swiveled her palm to reduce the pain.

"This is for the emotional pain you caused me, but this is just the tip," Lisa said then stretched out the divorce document to him again.

"Sign it, unless you don't want to let me go? Or...You can't do without me?!" Lisa mocked, which snapped everyone back to their senses including the one who had been slapped.

"How dare you lay your hand on me, Lisa?! You want to die?!" He roared again but Lisa wasn't a bit threatened as all she did was stretch the document to him.

"Sign the divorce document!" She repeated.

The room became silent as everyone waited for Dane's decision.

"Urggh...! Dane, help! My tummy.."

The cry of Claire, the mistress who had been quiet suddenly echoed in the room bringing confusion and chaos.

Lisa watched as Dane's eyes widened as he rushed towards her, he asked her gently what was wrong and Lisa's hands secretly clenched as she thought of something.

She looked at them, and noticed Dane's palm on Claire's tummy, Lisa froze, her breathing paused and her eyes met Claire who had a smug look.

Lisa watched as her husband clamoured and ran about as he cared for his mistress.

Suddenly she let out chuckles, her eyes flashed with self-mockery. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, then spat out, "Since your mistress is pregnant, then you should do the needful, which is to divorce me!"

Murmurs flew around as everyone looked at Lisa in pity but it was like she didn't notice as all she wanted was to leave this place.

Dane paused and was about to scold her, but his shirt was suddenly pulled, he lowered his head and saw his gentle woman looking at him, "Our child..."She muttered sadly which hurt his heart.

The words he was about to say got stuck in his throat, and what came out was, "Since you want a divorce, then don't think of taking anything from me! And don't you ever regret it, because I wouldn't take you back!" He gave his conditions loud and clear without being ashamed.

Lisa froze, then let out a sneer, "You don't need to worry about that, I regret divorcing a cheater!"

"You-" He paused, then chuckled, "Okay! I await the day you come back begging me to take you back. I want to see which man would want to keep a barren home!" He said, then snatched the divorce document and signed his name.

Lisa looked at the signed divorce papers and felt like crying but she knew she couldn't, not in front of these people.

Without a word, she turned around decisively to leave.

"Claire, now that I am divorced, our son wouldn't be an illegitimate child and for that to happen, you have to be my wife. Will you marry me, Claire?!"

That was the last word Lisa heard before she left the room without looking back.

She stood at the entrance of the hotel with the document clenched in her hand. She inhaled a mouthful of air, then exhaled.

"I'm free..,"

"Let's get married," Mia declares, her voice trembling despite her defiant gaze into Stefan's guarded brown eyes. She needs this, even if he seems untouchable. Stefan raises a skeptical brow. "And why would I do that?" His voice was low, like a warning, and it made her shiver even though she tried not to show it. "We both have one thing in common," Mia continues, her gaze unwavering. "Shitty fathers. They want to take what's ours and give it to who they think deserves it." A pointed pause hangs in the air. "The only difference between us is that you're an illegitimate child, and I'm not." Stefan studies her, the heiress in her designer armor, the fire in her eyes that matches the burn of his own rage. "That's your solution? A wedding band as a weapon?" He said ignoring the part where she just referred to him as an illegitimate child. "The only weapon they won't see coming." She steps closer, close enough for him to catch the scent of her perfume, gunpowder and jasmine. "Our fathers stole our birthrights. The sole reason they betrayed us. We join forces, create our own empire that'll bring down theirs." A beat of silence. Then, Stefan's mouth curves into something sharp. "One condition," he murmurs, closing the distance. "No divorces. No surrenders. If we're doing this, it's for life" "Deal" Mia said without missing a beat. Her father wants to destroy her life. She wouldn't give him the pleasure, she would destroy her life as she seems fit. ................ Two shattered heirs. One deadly vow. A marriage built on revenge. Mia Meyers was born to rule her father's empire (so she thought), until he named his bastard son heir instead. Stefan Sterling knows the sting of betrayal too. His father discarded him like trash. Now the rivals' disgraced children have a poisonous proposal: Marry for vengeance. Crush their fathers' legacies. Never speak of divorce. Whoever cracks first loses everything. Can these two rivals, united by their vengeful hearts, pull off a marriage of convenience to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs? Or will their fathers' animosity, and their own complicated pasts tear their fragile alliance apart?

I died on a Tuesday. It wasn't a quick death. It was slow, cold, and meticulously planned by the man who called himself my father. I was twenty years old. He needed my kidney to save my sister. The spare part for the golden child. I remember the blinding lights of the operating theater, the sterile smell of betrayal, and the phantom pain of a surgeon's scalpel carving into my flesh while my screams echoed unheard. I remember looking through the observation glass and seeing him-my father, Giovanni Vitiello, the Don of the Chicago Outfit-watching me die with the same detached expression he used when signing a death warrant. He chose her. He always chose her. And then, I woke up. Not in heaven. Not in hell. But in my own bed, a year before my scheduled execution. My body was whole, unscarred. The timeline had reset, a glitch in the cruel matrix of my existence, giving me a second chance I never asked for. This time, when my father handed me a one-way ticket to London-an exile disguised as a severance package-I didn't cry. I didn't beg. My heart, once a bleeding wound, was now a block of ice. He didn't know he was talking to a ghost. He didn't know I had already lived through his ultimate betrayal. He also didn't know that six months ago, during the city's brutal territory wars, I was the one who saved his most valuable asset. In a secret safe house, I stitched up the wounds of a blinded soldier, a man whose life hung by a thread. He never saw my face. He only knew my voice, the scent of vanilla, and the steady touch of my hands. He called me Sette. Seven. For the seven stitches I put in his shoulder. That man was Dante Moretti. The Ruthless Capo. The man my sister, Isabella, is now set to marry. She stole my story. She claimed my actions, my voice, my scent. And Dante, the man who could spot a lie from a mile away, believed the beautiful deception because he wanted it to be true. He wanted the golden girl to be his savior, not the invisible sister who was only ever good for her spare parts. So I took the ticket. In my past life, I fought them, and they silenced me on an operating table. This time, I will let them have their perfect, gilded lie. I will go to London. I will disappear. I will let Seraphina Vitiello die on that plane. But I will not be a victim. This time, I will not be the lamb led to slaughter. This time, from the shadows of my exile, I will be the one holding the match. And I will wait, with the patience of the dead, to watch their entire world burn. Because a ghost has nothing to lose, and a queen of ashes has an empire to gain.
