I gave him my heart, and he gave his mother the power to break it. For years, Bella endured a loveless marriage built on her silence and sacrifice. Eric, the man she had married, chose his love and loyalty to his overbearing mother over protecting his wife. When the humiliation became unbearable after letting another woman into their home, Bella finally walked away. Then came Cole Warren, A wealthier billionaire than Eric. He was everything Eric wasn't. With Cole, Bella found peace and the love she had begged Eric for. But fate had one last twist. Bella was already pregnant and with Eric's child. Now, Eric wants her back. But Bella isn't the same woman he abandoned.

Chapter 1 The End Of Our Vows

Bella's POV

They say every love story begins with hope. But mine began with fire.

I can still see the way Eric looked at me the night of the charity ball. He looked at me like I was the only woman in the room, though we were surrounded by hundreds. I was just a nobody then. A server at the event. Outside that, I was a quiet girl tucked at the corner, working on my small designs and dreaming of someday being seen as one of the greatest perfumers. But Eric saw me.

"Dance with me," he'd said as he walked over to me. He removed the tray from my hand and pulled me closer to him.

I laughed nervously. "I don't even know you."

But he smirked. Looking at me confidently as though rejection never existed to him. "Then consider this the first step. I'm Eric Damon."

That was how it started. The billionaire CEO who could have had anyone chose me. Me, Bella Hayes. I thought it was fate. I thought it was love. He chased me with flowers, midnight calls, and promises of heaven and earth. He loved me hard and fast. With a certainty that swept me off my feet.

Our wedding was a dream. I wore a lace dress with a white rose bouquet in my hands. I believed in the forever he promised. But forever was shorter than I imagined. Cause the Eric I married allowed himself to be covered by someone's shadow. His mother's.

Grace Damon. The woman who reminded me, day after day, that I was an intruder in her son's life. She reminded me of my shortcomings. Watched my womb, and when it stayed empty, she condemned me. "Three years and nothing? My son married a barren woman."

And Eric let her. That's the part that broke my heart. And to make things worse, Grace introduced another girl at the family dinner table and said, "This is who should have been my daughter-in-law." And Eric was silent. He had an affair with her. And so, tonight. I will choose myself.

The next morning. I stood in Eric's office. He sat at his desk, as there were papers spread before him. His head was bent over numbers and business deals like always.

My hands shook slightly as I pulled the folder from my bag. It was divorce papers.

"Eric," I called. My voice cracked, but it managed to get his attention.

He looked up, his dark eyes softening as they landed on me. "Bella. My darling. I didn't hear you come in."

I stepped closer, the papers pressed against my chest. "We need to talk."

He frowned. "What is it?"

I placed the folder on his desk. He barely looked at it at first, but then his eyes widened, and his hand froze mid-motion.

"Bella..." he called as he opened the folder, skimmed the top page, and his breath caught. "Divorce?"

I nodded. "Yes."

He pushed the chair back and stood up. The veins in his hand tightened around the paper. "No. No, Bella. This... this is a mistake."

He looked between me and the papers as though he was trying to find hidden cameras for the prank he was falling for. "Why now? After everything. Bella, we can fix this. Whatever it is, I'll fix it."

A hollow laugh slipped out of my mouth. "Three years, Eric. Three years, and nothing has changed. It's too late now. Nothing will change."

"Don't say that," he snapped. "I know I've made mistakes-"

"Mistakes?" I cut in, the anger in me was boiling. "You let your mother run our marriage into the ground. You stood there, silent, and watched her as she tore me apart piece by piece. You let her bring another woman into our home, and you fucked this woman on our matrimonial bed, Eric. Do you even realize how humiliating that was?"

His face went pale as shame flickered in his eyes. "Bella, I didn't mean-"

"You didn't mean what?" I spat. "You never mean anything. But you always allow. Were you drugged when you were deep into that lady's pussy, fucking her like you've never fucked anyone else before?"

He raked a hand through his hair, pacing around like a caged animal. "I can change. I'll tell my mom to stop. I'll-"

"You won't," I cut in again. "You've had three good years to prove you could. And you didn't."

The room became silent. Eric's lips parted, ready to plead again, but then the door creaked open.

"Bella," came in the shrill voice I had learned to hate. "Oh, thank heavens!"

Grace Damon stepped inside, her smile was wide. She looked at the folder in Eric's hand and clapped joyfully.

"Finally! She's leaving!" she laughed. "I told you, my son, didn't I? She was never good enough for this family. Couldn't even give you a child. What use is a wife like that?"

Eric's head snapped toward her. "Mother, please stop-"

But she only waved her hand. "Stop? Oh, Eric, don't pretend you don't see the blessing in this. She's doing us both a favor. Sign it, dear. Let her go, and we'll find you someone worthy of this family. That's if you don't want the one I brought in. Someone who can give you an heir."

My blood boiled, and my fists clenched at my sides. I wanted to scream at her, wanted to throw something. But instead, I exhaled, forcing myself to calm down.

"You don't deserve a reaction out of me."

Grace blinked, and the smile on her face slipped.

Eric turned back to me. "Bella, please," he begged. "Don't do this. Don't leave me."

I shook my head, trying to control the tears that wanted to pour out of my eyes. "I already have, Eric. This paper is just the proof."

He faltered, staring at the signature line, his hands trembling. Then slowly, painfully, Eric picked up the pen.

His hand hovered, and his chest heaved. But finally, he signed.

Eric dropped the pen, his eyes were glassy. "Bella..." he whispered.

But I couldn't listen. I turned the papers in place, and the marriage was gone. As I turned to leave, behind me, Grace laughed.

"Good riddance. The barren lady finally takes her leave."

I paused at the door, my hand on the frame and my body trembling with fury. But without looking back, I spoke.

"You can have your son now."

And then, I walked out. But as the door shut behind me, a question kept whispering in my mind.

Was this the end or only the beginning?

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.

For four years, I traced the bullet scar on Chace’s chest, believing it was proof he would bleed to keep me safe. On our anniversary, he told me to wear white because "tonight changes everything." I walked into the gala thinking I was getting a ring. Instead, I stood frozen in the center of the ballroom, drowning in silk, watching him slide his mother's sapphire onto another woman's finger. Karyn Warren. The daughter of a rival family. When I begged him with my eyes to claim me, to save me from the public humiliation, he didn't flinch. He just leaned toward his Underboss, his voice amplified by the silence. "Karyn is for power. Ember is for pleasure. Don't confuse the assets." My heart didn't just break; it incinerated. He expected me to stay as his mistress, threatening to dig up my dead mother’s grave if I refused to play the obedient pet. He thought I was trapped. He thought I had nowhere to go because of my father’s massive gambling debts. He was wrong. With shaking hands, I pulled out my phone and texted the one name I was never supposed to use. Keith Mosley. The Don. The monster under Chace's bed. *I am invoking the Blood Oath. My father’s debt. I am ready to pay it.* His reply came three seconds later, buzzing against my palm like a warning. *The price is marriage. You belong to me. Yes or No?* I looked up at Chace, who was laughing with his new fiancée, thinking he owned me. I looked down and typed three letters. *Yes.*

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.
