Kylee Brooks knelt between Kenney Walsh's legs as she had done countless times before and awkwardly tried to satisfy him. At the moment of passion, Kenney abruptly pushed her away and wheeled himself into the bathroom. He murmured, "Ruth..." Kylee was long used to this and turned to fetch his medicine. She had pursued Kenney for nine years and knew well that he was aloof. When she went to deliver the medicine, she found the bedroom door slightly ajar. Kenney's wheelchair was parked at the door, empty. Kenney pinned Ruth in front of him, and his eyes were blurred as he whispered in her ear, "Ruth, you are mine. You should have been my woman long ago. We depend on each other to become who we are today. I've stayed in a wheelchair to avoid having sex with Kylee. Can't you see how much I love you?" Kylee was stunned and then suddenly realized something. Ruth was Kenney's sister-in-law. She was two years older than Kenney, with a voluptuous figure, yet he never touched her.

I would Never See the Guy I had Loved for Years Chapter 1

Kylee Brooks knelt between Kenney Walsh's legs as she had done countless times before and awkwardly tried to satisfy him.

At the moment of passion, Kenney abruptly pushed her away and wheeled himself into the bathroom.

He murmured, "Ruth..."

Kylee was long used to this and turned to fetch his medicine.

Can't you see how much I love you?"

Kylee was stunned and then suddenly realized something.

Ruth was Kenney's sister-in-law.

She was two years older than Kenney, with a voluptuous figure.

She had lived as a widow for ten years.

She had been married to Kenney's older brother when the latter was in poor condition. Unfortunately, he had died on their wedding night.

The entire Walsh family cursed Ruth as a bad omen.

They wanted to kick her out of the family, but Kenney stood firm against others, although he was only sixteen years old.

No one dared to go against him, and they agreed to let Ruth stay with the Walsh family.

"But... you are already married to Kylee," Ruth murmured, biting her lip and sobbing quietly.

"We both know that it was just a cover for us that I got married to her," Kenney replied hoarsely. Then he kissed her lips.

So Kenney had loved Ruth but couldn't marry her. He remained faithful to her, stood up for her, and even married Kylee to mask their relationship.

Kylee silently went downstairs, as tears streamed down her face.

She found the divorce papers and signed her name.

Looking at both of the names on the papers, she let out a mocking laugh.

The divorce papers had been signed by Kenney when they got married, and it had been the Brooks family's sole demand and now her only leverage.

Kylee clenched the hem of her dress tightly.

After the divorce procedure was completed, she would have no ties to Kenney.

Suddenly, she heard footsteps.

Ruth was pushing Kenney downstairs.

He sat in the wheelchair, and his suit was slightly wrinkled. There were faint lip marks near his lips.

"Kylee, it's about time. Why haven't you given Kenney his medicine?" Ruth frowned unhappily, and her voice was vibrant. She seemed to be satisfied after she and Kenney had done it. "What if the car accident leaves him with lasting effects?" She took the prepared medicine from Kylee and patiently fed it to Kenney.

He obediently took it, and his eyes were tenderly fixed on her. He looked so joyful.

Their affection made Kylee feel like an outsider.

She took a deep breath. How stupid she had been!

How had she never noticed Ruth especially cared about Kenney before?

After helping Kenney take the medicine, Ruth handed the bowl to Kylee.

As Kylee reached to take it, Ruth smirked coldly and released it before Kylee caught it.

The bowl shattered instantly on the floor.

"Kylee, I merely blamed you a little, and you..." Ruth pouted and looked pitifully at Kenney.

He was worried that Ruth might be hurt and hurried over to check her hands. After ensuring she was unhurt, he looked up at Kylee coldly.

Kylee, how can you be so reckless? Clean up this mess!"

He didn't even ask what had happened and instinctively sided with Ruth.

Kylee was extremely disappointed as she crouched to gather the shards.

A piece cut her hand.

But Kylee didn't feel any pain as she saw her finger bleeding.

After all, Kenney had hurt Kylee too many times over the years.

Everyone in the city knew that Kylee was Kenney's childhood friend and his most loyal admirer.

Their families were well-matched, and they had known each other since they were kids.

Kylee believed that they were destined to be together.

So she pursued him for nine years. She braved storms to deliver him medicine, learned to cook for him, and even used all of her savings to buy a necklace he said he liked casually.

Although Kenney had repeatedly refused her, she never minded it.

She loved him with unwavering devotion.

When Kenney was sixteen, his parents passed away in an accident.

Facing covetous other family members, Kenney became even more ruthless.

In business, he became colder and more heartless. He retaliated fiercely against his enemies to the extreme.

Yet, Kenney fell in love with Ruth at first sight.

He said her resilience was beautiful, like a solitary plum blossom, while Kylee was just an ordinary plant who shamelessly pestered him.

He kept her at home, and they supported each other.

A month ago, Kenney was in a car accident due to someone's revenge.

Kylee couldn't bear seeing him injured and tirelessly took care of him.

She dozed off by his hospital bed, only to see his gentle gaze upon her after she woke up.

"Kylee, let's get married," he said.

She thought she had finally touched him. But now she realized that he feared gossip ruining Ruth's reputation back then, so he married Kylee to protect Ruth.

Using his leg injury as an excuse, he never touched Kylee.

When Kylee had a desire while helping him, he frowned and pushed her away. "Kylee, it's dirty..." Then he went to the bathroom to handle things himself.

Kylee had once felt smug, as she believed that he did that because she cared for her.

Now she understood that he refused to have sex with her because of Ruth.

Coming back to her senses, Kylee shakily stood up and booked herself a flight abroad.

After the divorce procedure was finished, she would leave and would never see Kenney again.

I was still bleeding into the mesh underwear the hospital gave me when the photos hit the internet: my husband, the Don, forcing his tongue down his mistress's throat. Three days ago, that very mistress had shoved me off a yacht. I lost the baby. I lost my uterus. I was left completely barren. Yet, when my husband finally called, it wasn't to ask if I was alive. "The press is eating us alive," Dante barked through the phone. "Send a gift basket to Sofia. Fix this mess." To make matters worse, his grandmother stood at the foot of my bed, holding the hand of the daughter they had stolen from me at birth. "Mommy looks like a ghost," my daughter said, her voice devoid of love. That was the moment the last ember of affection died. I realized I wasn't a wife to them; I was just a broken vessel. So, when they sneered that I was useless, I didn't cry. I pulled a black USB drive from under my pillow and threw it on the bed. "Divorce papers," I said calmly. "And the complete security blueprints of the Moretti Fortress. Every blind spot. Every tunnel I designed." "Sign the papers and let me go, or I sell this drive to your enemies for one dollar." I left the country with nothing but the clothes on my back, vanishing into a freezing attic in Paris. I thought I was finally free. But three weeks later, Dante kicked down my door, looking at my poverty with horror. "Come home," he begged, tossing a box of diamonds onto my drafting table. "We can be a family." I looked at the man who had destroyed me and opened the window. "You're looking for the girl who loved you," I whispered, throwing the diamonds into the trash alley below. "But you killed her."

The heavy steel door of the industrial meat locker slammed shut, sealing me in at four degrees below zero. Ten minutes ago, I was the woman Dante Moretti promised to burn the world for. Now, I was the rat accused of poisoning his heir. Dante didn’t just lock me in. He looked at me with eyes devoid of warmth and said, "Evidence says otherwise." He chose the lie of his arranged wife, Sofia, over my truth. For months, I endured the price of loving the Underboss. I watched him marry Sofia in a grand ceremony to secure a family alliance. I let him force me onto a table to drain my blood to save her life when she was injured. I took twenty lashes from his family’s enforcers, all while he stood by and watched, claiming it was necessary to "protect" me. He told me to wait. He told me the marriage was a sham. But when I finally escaped and he came chasing after me, revealing that Sofia was a fraud and he wanted me back, I didn't feel relief. I felt nothing. Even after he threw his body over mine to save me from a collapsing building, taking a jagged shard of timber through his chest, I couldn't forgive him. In the hospital, his mother handed me his journal. It was filled with entries about his undying love for me, written on the very same days he allowed me to be tortured. "Tell him the debt is paid," I told his mother as I handed the book back. "He saved my life. I saved his child. We are even." I turned my back on the ICU and walked out into the rain. Dante Moretti might have been willing to die for me, but he never knew how to live for me.

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.
