THE LOVE WE SHARE Chapter 1 Shattered Dreams

In a tranquil city, filled with love and hardworking individuals who live and cherish nature, the green view of nature brought utmost serenity and peace. One fateful day, chaos erupted as a tragic motor accident occurred in the community market square, taking the lives of many vibrant and healthy people. The community's peaceful and happy atmosphere turned into grieving and mourning. In the midst of this tragedy was a girl named Emily, barely nineteen years old.

Both of her parents were involved in the accident, and it claimed both of their lives, leaving her in tears and sorrows, unaware of where to begin.

As she navigated the dark reality of her loss, the community rallied around her, offering support and comfort. Neighbors brought food, friends offered listening ears, and strangers became familiar faces in her time of need.

The days that followed were a blur of funeral services, condolences, and paperwork. Emily struggled to come to terms with her new reality, oscillating between grief, anger, and numbness.

Her uncle, a distant relative, reluctantly agreed to take her in.

Her uncle's family consisted of his two children, Jeffrey and Vivian. They resided in a grand mansion, but the atmosphere was far from warm. Jeffrey, the son, was arrogant and dismissive, while Vivian, the daughter, was manipulative and cruel. Neither of them accepted her as one of their own, treating her with disdain and contempt.

She was forced to do menial tasks, from cleaning the house to cooking meals. Her uncle's family made sure she felt like a servant, not a member of the family. They would often belittle her, making her feel worthless and unloved. Emily's days blended together in a haze of hard work and emotional pain.

As the months passed, She felt like she was disappearing. She had no one to talk to, no one to confide in. Her uncle's family seemed to delight in her misery, and she began to wonder if she would ever find happiness again. The loneliness was suffocating, and Emily felt like she was losing herself.

One day, her uncle summoned her to his study. He handed her a ledger, detailing her "debts" to the family. According to him, Emily owed them for her living expenses, food, and shelter. The amount was staggering, and Emily realized she would never be able to repay it. She felt trapped, with no way out.

As the days turned into weeks, her life became a never-ending cycle of drudgery and despair. She was a prisoner in her uncle's house, forced to endure the cruelty and disdain of her relatives. Her spirit began to break, and Emily wondered if she would ever find freedom.

One day, Emily decided she had had enough. She couldn't take the cruelty and maltreatment anymore. She began to secretly save up money by selling fruits on the streets, determined to escape her uncle's house. The scorching sun beat down on her as she hawked her wares, but She didn't let it deter her. She was driven by her desire for freedom.

As she navigated the bustling streets, she learned to haggle with customers, avoid street vendors, and stay safe from potential threats. Despite the challenges, she found a sense of liberation in her newfound independence. The money she earned was meager, but it was hers, and she could use it to plan her escape.

Emily saved every penny, hiding her earnings in a secret stash. She mapped out her escape route, planning to leave at dawn when her uncle's family would be least expecting it. Her heart racing with excitement and fear, Emily knew she had to be careful. One misstep could mean being caught and brought back to her uncle's house.

The day of her escape finally arrived. Emily packed a small bag with her belongings and slipped out of the house before dawn. She made her way to the bus station, her heart pounding in her chest. As the bus pulled out of the station, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was finally free.

When she arrived in a new city, feeling both exhilarated and terrified. She had no idea what the future held, but she was determined to make a new life for herself. With her savings dwindling,She that knew she had to find a way to support herself. She began to look for work, determined to build a better life.

Emily walked the streets, her eyes scanning the towering buildings and bustling crowds. She felt small and insignificant, a tiny drop in the ocean of humanity. Where would she start? How would she survive? The questions swirled in her mind, making her feel dizzy and disoriented.

As the sun began to set, her anxiety grew. Where would she sleep that night? She had no money for a hotel, and she didn't know anyone in the city. She wandered the streets, searching for a place to rest, but every door seemed closed to her.

As she walked, she noticed a small park in the distance. She made her way towards it, hoping to find a bench to rest on. The park was quiet, a peaceful oasis in the midst of the bustling city. Emily found a bench and sat down, her legs aching from the long walk.

As night fell, Emily realized she wasn't alone in the park. There were others like her, people who had nowhere else to go. She saw homeless individuals huddled in blankets, trying to sleep. She felt a pang of fear, wondering if she would end up like them.

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."

I thought I was waking up in the arms of Arthur, the man I loved. But as the morning light hit the Hamptons estate, the man buttoning his cuffs by the window turned around with eyes like chips of ice. It was Augustus Riddle, Arthur’s cruel younger brother, and I had just spent the night whispering confessions of love into the wrong man's ear. The night I thought was a beautiful beginning turned into a devastating nightmare. Instead of comfort, Gus treated me like a stain on his expensive carpet, scribbling a check for "services rendered" before shoving me into a dark service corridor to hide my existence from his brother. "How much does it cost to buy your silence?" He sneered, before leaving me barefoot in a torrential downpour while he drove away in a luxury Cadillac. Four years later, I am a struggling actress in Los Angeles, working double shifts as a barista just to keep the lights on. My life was finally stable until my roommate dragged me to a high-end dinner to meet her new "influential" boyfriend. The man sitting at the table, looking more arrogant and lethal than ever, was Augustus. He spent the entire night humiliating me, calling me a pathetic amateur and a social climber in front of my only friends. When I fled into the rain and collapsed on the sidewalk, skinning my knee until I bled, he watched from his car. He saw me clutching a plastic baggie containing the taped-together pieces of that four-year-old check—the only proof of my shame. He looked at me like roadkill, rolled up his window, and drove off into the dark. I couldn't understand why he was doing this. Why did he hate me enough to crush me, yet remember that I couldn't handle the smell of cigarette smoke? Why did he leave me bleeding in the street, only to send expensive medical supplies and coffee to my door the very next morning? "I'm moving out." I told my roommates, realizing that Gus Riddle didn't just want to destroy me; he wanted to haunt me. I grabbed my suitcase and walked out with eighty dollars to my name, finally ready to disappear into the city before he could burn the rest of my life to the ground.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."
