Gianna Benton, a woman who came from a great family, a family with ancient history, had always lived a life that's overshadowed by her younger sister, Quinn. After her unfair death with her unborn baby at the hands of the man she loved, Gianna got reborn. Now with the opportunity to live again, Gianna rejects her mate and gives herself to alpha Axel, falling into an unexpected contract marriage. Both plans to use each other, and falling in love isn't part of the deal for them. Gianna plans to get her revenge on her former lover, alpha Nathan, who killed her in the past because of her younger sister, but surprisingly to her, alpha Nathan wants his mate back, and Gianna is determined not to let the past repeat itself. ------------------------------------------------- "Is this hell?" "Gianna, what's wrong with you? I know that you are excited, but you need to stop acting weird." Mom said. I reach out my hands to touch her face, but she slaps my hands away. This is real, I thought. Somehow, I have gone back in time to the day I got married to Alpha Nathan. "I need to take a picture of you, but I can't do it without your sister. Wait here for me while I go get your sister." Mom left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts. My hands formed a fist in anger as I thought of Quinn and Alpha Nathan. I don't know how I have traveled back to the past, but I'm not going to let myself make the same mistake I did in my past life; I'm not getting married to alpha Nathan. No matter what, I need to put a stop to this wedding.

Reborn: Contract Marriage With The Dark Alpha King Chapter 1 No.1

Gianna POV

The chair hit the floor along with my body as I tried to stop myself from falling. Tears filled my eyes as I realized what was in the cake I just ate. wolf's bane, no doubt that it was wolf's bane; I have just been poisoned.

A cruel laughter filled the kitchen as Quinn, my younger sister, came out of her hiding place. She walked to where I was struggling on the floor and gave me a cruel smile.

"Quinn," I called out with a weak voice. I knew that Quinn didn't like me, but I was pregnant, and I didn't want my baby to die because of my foolish mistakes. "Please take me to the pack hospital."

Quinn ignored me and went to the table where the note and cake Alpha Nathan, my husband, had left for me was. It was an apology note for suggesting that we should divorce. I didn't agree with his desire to divorce because I didn't want my child to grow up without a father. I want my child to be raised in a stable home, even if it meant pretending as though I was happy in my marriage with Alpha Nathan.

I have experienced the pain of being an orphan, along with the pain of having parents who are distant from me; my child must not go through that.

Quinn took the note, brought a lighter from her purse, and burned the note. "I knew that you were dumb, but I didn't know that you were this stupid, to think that getting rid of you is this easy," she said in astonishment.

Her hurtful words made me realize for the first time that I didn't know that Quinn was in my house before; how did she get in? Alpha Nathan wasn't the one who bought my favorite chocolate cake for me; it was Quinn. My husband wasn't the one who poisoned me.

"Quinn, why?" My weak voice was full of agony, and my heart broke when I couldn't feel my baby alive inside of me anymore.

Every part of my body was hurting because of the poison that had spread all over my veins and blood flow between my legs. I cried out, unable to contain the sadness I felt from my baby. My little baby was gone. From the front of the house, I heard someone slam the door and hurried to the kitchen.

"What have you done?!" Alpha Nathan yelled at me.

My eyes were blurry with tears as I gazed up at him. I was in pain, but my husband didn't care; instead of helping me to the hospital and questioning Quinn about my situation, he was glaring at me.

"I told her not to do it." Quinn kneels down beside me and holds me as though she cares that I am dying. There were tears in her eyes. "I beg her, but Gianna won't listen to me. She is desperate because you want a divorce. She said that you would pity her and stay in the marriage if she suddenly lost the baby."

I was so shocked by Quinn's words that I almost couldn't say anything to defend myself. "It's not true; Quinn is ly_"

"What did you do to my child?!" Alpha Nathan growled at me. He was filled with anger; the slight changes in his eyes showed that his wolf was threatening to come out and rip me apart. "What kind of a mother are you?" Alpha Nathan approached me with a slow but dangerous step. "How could you have killed my child?"

Quinn left my side when Alpha Nathan was close to me. It broke my heart that he believes Quinn and won't even give me a chance to defend myself. Alpha Nathan was my mate; my relationship with my parents could never be special, so I had so much hoped that my relationship with Alpha Nathan would be different.

"I cursed the day I got married to a woman like you." Alpha Nathan strangled my neck; his voice was filled with hatred.

My hands were too weak to struggle against him as he stole the life I had away from me. My body became numb, and my vision completely dark. I thought back to how my life had been so far, from being with my parents from birth only for me to mysteriously get lost at the age of 3, when my parents found me again. I was in an orphanage home, and I was 12 years old. I came back to meet Quinn, who had already been adopted by my parents. Before they found me, they had lost hope of seeing me again. They had given their whole heart to Quinn when they found me, and even though I was their real daughter, they had no space for me in their heart. Alpha Nathan, who was my fated mate, was destined to love me, but he couldn't. I have lived a life of no love, a hellish life. I wish I could start all over again. I imagined tears dropping out of my eyes as I felt myself fading away.

"Whoa," my mother said with an excited voice, "Quinn was right about this dress; it looks perfect on you. I wonder what type of wedding dress Quinn would pick for herself on her wedding day."

Even on my wedding day you won't stop talking about Quinn. Quickly my hands covered my mouth as I looked at myself in the mirrors with wide eyes; I was in a wedding dress, and the thought that almost came out of my mouth wasn't new; I remember thinking the exact thought on the day of my mating ceremony, when I was getting married to Alpha Nathan.

What is going on? I thought as my hands went to my throat, searching for Alpha Nathan's hands, but there was nothing; I was sure that I was strangled to death, but being in this luxurious room with my mother, who stopped contacting me after my wedding to Alpha Nathan, felt real.

"Is this hell?"

"Gianna, what's wrong with you? I know that you are excited, but you need to stop acting weird." Mom said.

I reach out my hands to touch her face, but she slaps my hands away. This is real, I thought. Somehow, I have gone back in time to the day I got married to Alpha Nathan.

"I need to take a picture of you, but I can't do it without your sister. Wait here for me while I go get your sister." Mom left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I arrived at my uncle’s mansion looking like human trash, clutching a one-way bus ticket and a duffel bag stuffed with old newspaper. My aunt looked at me with pure disgust, as if she could smell the poverty on my skin, but they needed me for one thing: to be a sacrificial lamb. They told me I was getting married to Julian Sterling, a man the elite circles called a violent monster locked in a cage. My uncle forced me to sign away my soul to save their failing fortune, while my cousin Kayla laughed and threw a torn dress at my feet, calling me a "rat from the Rust Belt." At the Sterling estate, the nightmare only deepened. Julian’s stepmother treated me like a horse she was forced to buy, ordering the staff to "burn off" my hair before locking me in the West Wing. I was thrown into a padded cell with a man who lunged at me, his heavy chains rattling against the floor as he roared with an animalistic rage that had already killed two nurses. They thought I was a pathetic, uneducated girl who "didn't read so good." They didn't know I had extorted two million dollars from my uncle before walking out the door, or that I was secretly recording every slap and insult they threw at me for future leverage. I huddled in the corner of that dark cell, letting them watch me tremble on the security feeds. I let Julian’s sister strike me with a riding crop and splash water in my face, playing the role of the clumsy, sobbing idiot to perfection. But the moment the cameras looped, the scared girl vanished. I pinned the "monster" to the floor, cut the neural tracking chip out of his neck with a hidden scalpel, and whispered into his ear as his blue eyes finally cleared. They thought they were sending a lamb to the slaughter. They had no idea they were sending a wolf to hunt a beast.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
