Chapter 1 Diana

Dee baby... "Dee baby, wake up! You're late for the job interview!" That single statement jolted Diana out of bed. She hurried to the bathroom to take a quick shower and hastily brushed through her tangled hair. She barely had time to think before throwing on her best outfit and racing downstairs. The sizzling aroma of freshly baked potatoes and chicken soup welcomed her to the dining room. The family was already gathered, chatting and laughing. "Good morning, everyone!" Diana greeted breathlessly as she grabbed her purse from the couch.

"Come have your breakfast, Dee baby," Grandma called softly, dragging a chair out for her. "No, sweet Grandma, I will pass today," she replied with a rushed smile while heading for the door. But she stopped almost immediately. "Sugar Grandma, please pack some of your magical mashed potatoes for me. I'll take them with me; I need all the luck I can get today." "Diana, we are all invisible now, right?" her father joked. "C'mon, Cute Daddy, your baby girl is already late," she replied with a wink. "I love you, Daddy, I love you, Mummy," she said, turning to her brother. "I hate you, bro," she said with a playful scowl. Jaxon just rolled his eyes at her and continued devouring his meal as though nothing happened. Grandma walked up to her with a warm smile. "Dee baby, here are your potatoes. I packed them well. Now get going; you don't want to be late, you know?" "Thanks, Grandma," Diana said, hugging her briefly before closing the door behind her. Diana walked briskly to the bus stop while trying to call her best friend Emma. Emma picked up on the second ring. "Hey babe, where are you?" "On my way to the bus station. How about you?" Diana replied. "I'm at work, girl... I called you but you didn't pick up. You don't expect me to be late and face my cold-hearted boss, do you?" she chuckled. Before Diana could reply, the bus arrived. "Alright babe, see you," she said, ending the call. Diana took a deep breath and stepped onto the bus. The ride to the company was smooth as she wondered if she could get the job. "Oh Lord, please, I need this job. Since Dad retired, things are not as they used to be," she prayed silently. The bus finally pulled to a stop after what felt like forever. Diana got down after paying the driver and exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, this is heaven!" as she gazed at the gigantic company building. "Welcome to Spintech Company," she read quietly before dragging her feet inside. Once inside, she marveled at the sight before her, but she didn't have enough time to admire the building because she saw other applicants waiting for the interview, just like her. She walked briskly toward them and sat beside a plump lady, mouthing a "good morning" before focusing on her phone. A few minutes later, a petite lady came out to address them. "Good morning, everyone! You are all welcome to our humble organization. The best among you will get the job as the boss's secretary." There was a little murmur among the applicants, but it died down quickly. "Well, the interview isn't hard, but it is being conducted by the boss himself. You will go in there and do whatever he asks of you. Good luck, girls! You are all welcome once again. Your time starts now!" The first applicant was a beautiful girl who dressed as though she were going to a party instead of an interview. Not long after she entered, they heard a deep voice shouting, "Get out of my office!" That was how it went until it was Diana's turn. She felt nervous but masked it with a calm expression. She walked slowly to the office, but she wasn't prepared for what she saw: a handsome young man who looked like he wasn't from this planet. His white hair, silver eyes, and pointed nose left her senses completely blank for a few seconds. Kane was equally awestruck by her beauty-her long golden hair that stopped at her slim waist, her figure, and her green eyes. "Are you done staring, pervert?" his deep voice brought her out of her reverie, and she quickly composed herself while muttering a greeting.

For seventeen years, I was the crown jewel of the Kensington empire, the perfect daughter groomed for a royal future. Then, a cream-colored envelope landed in my lap, bearing a gold crest and a truth that turned my world into ice. The DNA test result was a cold, hard zero percent-I wasn't a Kensington. Before the ink could even dry, my parents invited my replacement, a girl named Alleen, into the drawing room and treated me like a trespasser in my own home. My mother, who once hosted galas in my honor, wouldn't even look me in the eye as she stroked Alleen's arm, whispering that she was finally "safe." My father handed me a one-million-dollar check-a mere tip for a billionaire-and told me to leave immediately to avoid tanking the company's stock price. "You're a thief! You lived my life, you spent my money, and you don't get to keep the loot!" Alleen shrieked, trying to claw the designer jacket off my shoulders while my "parents" watched with clinical detachment. I was dumped on a gritty sidewalk in Queens with nothing but three trunks and the address of a struggling laborer I was now supposed to call "Dad." I traded a marble mansion for a crumbling walk-up where the air smelled of exhaust and my new bedroom was a literal storage closet. My biological family thought I was a broken princess, and the Kensingtons thought they had successfully erased me with a payoff and a non-disclosure agreement. They had no idea that while I was hauling trunks up four flights of stairs, my secret media empire was already preparing to move against them. As I sat on a thin mattress in the dark, I opened my encrypted laptop and sent a single command that would cost my former father ten million dollars by breakfast. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves, but they forgot one thing: I'm the one who leads the pack.
