On her 18th birthday, Selena is rejected by her fated mate-the cold-hearted Alpha who publicly humiliates her and strips her of rank. Heartbroken and exiled from her pack, she's attacked in the forest and left to die. But death never comes. Instead, she awakens in a hidden realm, saved by a powerful, cursed Dragon King-one who claims she is his destined mate, and the only one who can break his thousand-year curse. With ancient powers awakening inside her and enemies closing in, Selena returns to the world that cast her aside-not as a weak, unwanted omega... but as a queen of fire and fury. Now, the Alpha who once rejected her wants her back. But she belongs to the Dragon King now. And this time, she's the one doing the rejecting.

Chapter 1 The Rejection

The full moon hung heavy over the Bloodfang Pack's ceremonial grounds, casting a silver glow over the circle of gathered wolves. Tonight should have been the most sacred, most joyful night of Selena Ashborn's life-her eighteenth birthday, and the day she was supposed to find her fated mate.

Instead, her world was about to burn.

She stood at the center of the pack, trembling but proud. Her long dark hair flowed freely over her shoulders, and her white ceremonial dress glowed in the moonlight, marking her purity, her readiness. Her wolf pulsed beneath her skin, eager, alert, waiting for the bond to snap into place.

Her eyes searched the crowd. She already knew. She had felt it.

Kael.

Alpha Kael of the Bloodfang Pack.

Her fated mate.

He stepped forward slowly, his towering frame exuding dominance, dressed in black as always, a crimson sash marking his alpha status. His cold silver eyes met hers-and for a fleeting moment, she thought she saw a flicker of warmth. Hope bloomed in her chest like fragile glass.

Then his voice shattered it.

"I, Alpha Kael of the Bloodfang Pack," he said, loud enough for every wolf present to hear, "reject you, Selena Ashborn, as my mate."

The words hit her like a thunderclap.

Gasps echoed through the circle. Whispers followed. Some were shocked. Others smirked.

Selena couldn't breathe.

Her vision swam. Her heart screamed. Her wolf howled in agony inside her.

"I-I accept your rejection," she managed to choke out, though her knees threatened to give out beneath her.

Kael's expression didn't change. Not even a flicker of regret crossed his chiseled face. Behind him, a slim blonde woman-Lila-stepped forward and slid her arm around his. Lila's smirk was poisonous.

Of course. Lila had always wanted Kael. And now she had him.

Selena stumbled backward. Her hands shook. Her lungs burned.

"Selena," came her mother's voice from the edge of the circle, but she didn't look. Couldn't.

Her chest felt cracked open, her soul sliced in two. The bond hadn't even fully formed, yet the rejection was ripping through her like fire. She turned and ran.

Ran from the circle.

Ran from the whispers.

Ran from the pain.

Into the forest.

Branches scratched at her arms and face, but she didn't care. The tears came hot and fast. Her wolf was disoriented, silent, bleeding.

He didn't want her.

Her mate didn't want her.

She wasn't strong enough. Not beautiful enough. Not worthy enough.

How could she ever be whole again?

She ran deeper into the woods, past the pack borders, past the wards. The cold night air cut into her lungs, but she didn't stop. She wanted to scream, to shift, to disappear.

Then she heard it.

A snap.

Too close.

She froze.

A growl behind her.

Another.

She turned slowly, heart thudding in her throat.

Eyes.

Six glowing eyes stared at her from the darkness. Rogues.

She backed away, her feet crunching against dead leaves. Her wolf tried to rise, but she was too weak, too hurt to shift.

The first rogue lunged.

Selena screamed and dove to the side, narrowly missing its snapping jaws. She scrambled to her feet, adrenaline surging. Another rogue charged. She swung a branch at it, hitting its side, but it barely flinched.

They were circling her now.

Laughing. Taunting. Predators toying with prey.

"Little omega," one of them growled, saliva dripping from its fangs. "All alone."

Another stepped closer. "No pack. No mate. No future."

They pounced.

Selena screamed as claws tore through her shoulder. Pain exploded through her. She collapsed, struggling to breathe, blood soaking her dress.

This was it.

This was how she died.

Banished. Rejected. Torn apart by rogues.

Her vision blurred. Her body shook. Her mind began to slip.

Then the earth cracked beneath them.

A deafening roar split the sky.

Everything stopped.

A pulse of golden light blasted through the trees, sending the rogues flying. The ground trembled. Fire licked up through the cracks in the soil.

Selena blinked through the blood in her eyes.

A figure stood between her and the rogues-tall, cloaked in shadows and flame, with wings that shimmered like molten gold. His presence was ancient, terrifying, divine.

The rogues whimpered and fled, their courage gone.

The figure turned toward her.

Eyes like molten gold locked onto hers. Inhuman. Hypnotic.

"Don't be afraid," the voice rumbled.

She blacked out.

---

Selena woke in warmth.

Softness. Scented smoke.

She opened her eyes slowly. She was lying in a massive bed draped in crimson and obsidian silk. The walls were stone, carved with glowing symbols. The air pulsed with magic-ancient, powerful, alive.

She tried to sit up, but her body ached.

"Easy."

The voice again.

He stood at the edge of the room, his back to her, shirtless. Long dark hair cascaded down his back. Intricate tattoos ran along his arms and spine, glowing faintly like embers. His wings were folded behind him-majestic, scaled, and massive.

"What... what are you?" she whispered.

He turned.

Not a man.

Not a wolf.

Something more.

His face was sculpted, too perfect for any mortal. His eyes glowed with heat and age and something primal.

"I am the last of the Dragon Kings," he said. "And you are mine."
