RISE OF THE REJECTED LUNA Chapter 1 1

Noemie stared up at him, her look of excitement fallen and crumbling into the ground.

Her face fell, her eyes glistened with tears she had become too scared to shed-no, she was too scared to do anything now, in the presence of this man who was once her loving husband.

She tilted her head, staring into his emerald eyes, her throat dry, her palms clammy.

Clutching the sides of her night robe tightly, she looked back at him. "What do you mean I have to sleep in the guest room tonight? It's... our anniversary," her voice broke in the end, and she shuddered when she received a cutthroat glare from him.

"Do not question my orders, Noemie. You'll do as you are told."

Noemie stumbled backwards. The harder he glared at her, the more she felt like sinking into the ground and allowing it to swallow her whole.

It was their 3-year anniversary, and she had personally whipped up his favorite dish, gotten all cleaned up, and worn his favorite cologne just to impress him, just to make him feel happy. But why did it feel like her plans had backfired and come crashing in her face? He had refused to even look at the food, and now he was sending her away.

Noemie couldn't wrap her head around the reason he wanted her out of their matrimonial chambers this night-the night of their anniversary.

She had tried to understand him being distant and harsher towards her, but wasn't this the peak of it all? He had stayed out late till this ungodly hour and was now chasing her out of their room.

She bit her lips, trying so hard to suppress the pain she felt. "Da..." The sharp glare that followed from him almost made a tear slip out from her eyes. He had banned her from addressing him casually. "Alpha Damian..."

"Enough, Noemie. Leave now!" he cut her off.

That was it. No room for questions nor bargains, strong finality mixed in his words.

Noemie turned back to leave. She looked back at him one more time, hoping to see something in his eyes-anything at all-but she was greeted with nothing but emptiness in those eyes, and as she left, a tear slid out of her eyes.

Noemie made her way to the guest room, feeling the pressing weight of shame on her. The Luna of Shadowcang Pack, spending a night out of her chambers, shouldn't even be whispered, much less witnessed.

Each step felt heavier than the last as she dragged herself to the guest room, hoping her husband would come after her-but none of that happened.

She got into the room and fell on the bed, hot tears streaming down her eyes as she thought about everything. Where was the love in his eyes? His care, his attention-where did it all go?

She tried to understand him. He was an Alpha, probably had problems that made him stressed-why he couldn't talk with her, nor laugh with her. Perhaps why he stayed away from home for weeks without calling her even once. How comfortable he was to not see or hear from her for as long as a month.

Before, he couldn't go a day without seeing her. No matter how busy he was, he always made time to hold her, to make her feel like a woman. When last had he touched her? She couldn't even remember, and it made her heart sink.

Was the pack in trouble? Were they being threatened? She almost went to her maid's room to settle her curiosity, but she halted in her steps. It was late, and if people found her wandering about this late at night, it would raise eyebrows.

Her hand slipped from the door handle, but she was quick to tighten her grip back on it. If Damian was in some sort of trouble-if he was really in need of help-she should at least show him support, show him that she was here if he ever needed anyone to lean on. Yes, that was why she was his Luna after all.

Noemie slipped out of her room, making her way back to their chambers. Her feet were slow. She was scared, and something at the back of her mind reminded her that defying Damian's orders would warrant a sort of trouble she couldn't take-but she could risk it-no, she was going to risk it.

As she walked down the long hallway, her pink robe swept the clean marble floor, her golden hair cascaded down her slender shoulders.

Her feet halted in front of their chambers, her hands clammy as cold sweat rolled down her back. Her heart did a marathon in her cage. She should turn back. Damian didn't want to see her, and it wasn't right to irk him anymore.

Her hands turned clammy at the the thought of incuring his rage, her lips dry.

But if her hunch was right and he wasn't doing really good, what kind of wife would she be if she didn't confront him about all of it and let him lean on her?

Although all the warning bells rang in her head, something prompted her to take the bold move-and she did. She twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open.

Her blood drained from her body, her face paled with horror at the sight that slapped her hard across the face-the sight that greeted her.

Her husband, Damian, entangled in their matrimonial bed with another woman. The same bed in which he had taken her virginity and whispered all sorts of promises to her-promises which clearly meant nothing to him.

Noemie staggered backwards, almost falling hard on the ground if it weren't for the support of the wall-but the duo didn't even notice she was there. They were too engrossed in their lovemaking.

The air suddenly felt too cold to breathe in. Her heart felt like it was being teased before being heartlessly ripped out of her chest as her whole world came crashing that instant.

I was at my own engagement party at the Sterling estate when the world started tilting. Victoria Sterling, my future mother-in-law, smiled coldly as she watched me struggle with a cup of tea that had been drugged to ruin me. Before I could find my fiancé, Ryan, a waiter dragged me into the forbidden West Wing and locked me in a room with Julian Sterling, the family’s "fallen titan" who had been confined to a wheelchair for years. The door burst open to a frenzy of camera flashes and theatrical screams. Victoria framed me as a seductress caught in the act, and Ryan didn't even try to listen to my pleas, calling me "cheap leftovers" before walking away with his pregnant mistress. When I turned to my own family for help, my father signed a document severing our relationship for a five-million-dollar payout from Julian. They traded me like a commodity without a second thought. I didn't understand why my own parents were so eager to sell me, or how Ryan could look at me with such disgust after promising me forever. I was a sacrifice, a pawn used to protect the family's offshore accounts, and I couldn't fathom how every person I loved had a price tag for my destruction. With nowhere left to go, I married Julian in a bleak ceremony at City Hall. He slid a heavy diamond onto my finger and whispered, "We have a war to start." That night, inside his secret penthouse, I watched the paralyzed man stand up from his wheelchair and activate a screen filled with the Sterling family's darkest secrets. The execution had officially begun.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

One Night With My Billionaire Boss

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.
