"Freya you have to tell him the truth." Anna tells me, her face creasing in worry. "No, I can't, he'll kill me, he'll cut me to pieces, you know him." I place my shaking hands on my trembling lips. "He wouldn't, he cares for you." Anna hisses. "Same way he cared for his ex wife before he killed her, burned her to the ground in her own home." I grit out. "Those are just rumors, it holds no ground to the truth." Anna tries to convince me. "I can't stay Anna, I'm tired, I can't live like this anymore, I'm loosing my mind, pleaseee help me." "But you can't just run away, he'll never forgive you, and when he finds you, you know he'll surely kill you then. Rino hates to be deceived." Anna says frantically before lowering her voice to a whisper. "Especially not when you run away with his child."

Chapter 1 Caught

"Get her now." one of the large men behind me roars heavily but I don't stop running, I can hear the erratic thumping of my heart in my ears. I hide behind a tree in the woods.

"Make sure you find the bitch, we cannot afford to lose her today." Another deep voice says.

I look towards the bleeding in my stomach and hiss at the amount of blood I'm losing, and by the time I realize the bleeding must have left a trail behind me, my left ear rings loudly and I fall to the ground groaning.

"Fucking bitch, so the is where you were hiding." The man says with a dark smirk. I crawl across the ground in a hurry and when he bends to reach for my shoulders, I land a heavy blow to his nose.

"You will pay for that." The man screams, dragging me by my hair.

"Matteo, get your hands off her, boss wants her unscathed." another well built man in a suit says calmly.

Matteo hisses angrily before roughly putting me over his shoulders and I begin to scream his ears off.

"Put me down you bastard." I bang my fists into his back. "You've got the wrong person,I already called the cops, where are you taking me?" I get no answer in return from about all 10 of the men in suits. He throws me into a car and someone I didn't notice from behind me puts a clothe over my nose and I fall into dark nothingness.

~~~~~~
I wake with a start in a dark room, I'm tied to a chair and my heart nearly halts from nerves, the air from my nose comes out in short breaths and I keep my mouth open to avoid passing out again. The only time I've ever been this scared was whenever I was near Rino, just thinking about him has my control over my own body and mind spiraling. I try to convince myself that maybe he's not the one who found me, I do not want to imagine what he would do to me, I begin to sob at the thought.
"Why are you crying?" my entire being stiffens. The door opens and the exact copy of Rino walks in. "No one has touched you yet and you are already crying." The shadow's head tilts in genuine confusion. I gasp as he comes into my line of view and scans my face.
"It's been a really long time, Freya." My brow's creases as to why he's the one here. "Obviously, not long enough Louis." I croak out.
"Now, we have a lot to catch up on, don't we?" He gives me a small reserved smile, and if I didn't know better, he could pass for an old friend but I did know better.
"Fuck off." I hiss at him despite my fear. "Ahh, there you are, the Freya I know, ever so stubborn."
My hair gets pulled back harshly. "Now tell me. Where. Is. My. Brother's. Child?" I feign ignorance.
"I don't know what you are talking about." I grit out.
"You don't?" The look he gives me unwinds me but I still ignore it.
"No, I don't."
"Okay." He merely shrugs, "how about I give you something to remember then.
The door opens and a man drags a woman by her hair into the room and across the floor.
"Do you know her?" Louis asks and I swallow loudly as I look over her features. Of course I know her, she was the nurse who helped me through my labor, I haven't seen her in years but I would never forget her face.
"She has nothing to do with this." I plead.
"Really? because she claims to have helped give birth to a child you know nothing about." I close my eyes and inhale deeply.
My eyes fly open at the click of the safety of a gun being unloced, my face scrunches in horror and by the time I begin screaming for him to stop, there's already a splatter of blood everywhere. My body freezes in shock, the metallic smell of blood fills my nostrils and stomach and I become very nauseous. The last time I saw so much blood would be during the birth of my baby.
"You fucked up bastard." I try to yell but it comes out as a whisper.
The door to the room opens again and a man walks in with two other men behind him dragging a man into the room and throwing him onto the floor in front of me and my breath ceases.
"Do you still not know this man too?" I barely recognize him, his face is badly covered in cuts and blood but I would know that set of curly blonde hair anywhere.
He lays unmoving in front of me. "No, no, no, no, no, Oh God, please no." I try to slide to the floor, try to hold him in my arms but the only thing I can do is rub my face against his bloodied one but it's not enough, I still can't feel his warmth.
I hear Louis chuckle darkly, probably satisfied by the amount of concern he could get out of me. "Now let's try this again." He says pointing a gun to his head.
"Where. Is. My. Brother's. Child?"
I have never felt so cornered in a really long time. "No, no, no." I scream trying to put myself in front of Lucas. "Kill me instead please." I cry, I have never felt so desperate in years.
"Just tell the fucking truth, you traitor." Louis let his expression show his rage for the first time since he stepped into this room. "Was it for him? Did you deceive and abandon my brother for a man?" I try to shake my head but fear of what might happen next engulfs me.
"And here I was, really hoping you might somehow, just maybe have a genuine reason for leaving." He says before dragging Lucas from my feet and placing the gun beneath his neck and I scream historically.
"I'll-I-I will t-talk, just L-let me talk t-to R-Rino, please." I stuttered out in a rush unclearly but he seemed to understand because he threw Lucas towards the men and they took him out of the room. Louis looks at me for one last time in disgust before also walking out.
"Ethan, this is unethical. It's criminal. She hasn't consented." Those chilling words, whispered in the sterile hum of an operating room, were the first thing I heard as consciousness flickered back. My heart pounded, cold dread snaking through my veins. Dr. Ben Carter, Ethan's old friend, was arguing with him. "She's my girlfriend, Ben. Practically my wife," Ethan scoffed, his voice laced with a terrifying casualness. "Chloe needs this kidney. Ava is a perfect match." Kidney. Chloe. My blood ran cold. The beautiful, fragile Chloe Vahn, who had always haunted our relationship, was now taking a piece of me, quite literally. I tried to scream, to move, but my body felt like lead, my throat raw. I felt a sharp tug, a searing line of fire on my side-the scalpel. Ten years of love, of sacrifice, building Ethan Reed and his company back from nothing, all for this. To be carved up like an animal for the woman he truly loved. When I finally regained full awareness, Ethan was by my bedside, a practiced look of concern on his face, spinning a lie about a ruptured ovarian cyst. But then, the overheard nurse's whispered conversation confirmed my nightmare: "Chloe's kidney transplant... he barely left her side." The pieces slammed into place. My despair solidified into a cold, hard resolve. No more. I grabbed my phone, scrolling to one contact I hadn't dared to call. Noah Hayes, Ethan's rival, a man of integrity. My finger trembled as I typed. "Noah," I managed, my voice raspy. "Are you still looking for a COO who knows Reed Innovate's strategies... and perhaps, a wife?" The silence stretched, then his voice, calm and serious, cut through the noise of my crumbling world. "My jet, seven days. LaGuardia."
The Truth About His Mistress
I was four months pregnant, a photographer excited for our future, attending a sophisticated baby brunch. Then I saw him, my husband Michael, with another woman, and a newborn introduced as "his son." My world shattered as a torrent of betrayal washed over me, magnified by Michael's dismissive claim I was "just being emotional." His mistress, Serena, taunted me, revealing Michael had discussed my pregnancy complications with her, then slapped me, causing a terrifying cramp. Michael sided with her, publicly shaming me, demanding I leave "their" party, as a society blog already paraded them as a "picture-perfect family." He fully expected me to return, to accept his double life, telling his friends I was "dramatic" but would "always come back." The audacity, the calculated cruelty of his deception, and Serena's chilling malice, fueled a cold, hard rage I barely recognized. How could I have been so blind, so trusting of the man who gaslighted me for months while building a second family? But on the plush carpet of that lawyer's office, as he turned his back on me, a new, unbreakable resolve solidified. They thought I was broken, disposable, easily manipulated – a "reasonable" wife who would accept a sham separation. They had no idea my calm acceptance was not surrender; it was strategy, a quiet promise to dismantle everything he held dear. I would not be handled; I would not understand; I would end this, and make sure their perfect family charade crumbled into dust.
