Chapter 01

*Arielle's Pov*

"On your feet, sleepyhead" That was my best friend Ryan's annoying voice grabbing me off the bed.

I grabbed him in annoyance as I tried to fight his grip on me but he was just too strong for me.

"Ahh, fuck you" I screamed, kicking him in his groin before he finally released me groaning in pain while I finally flashed my eyes open, still annoyed.

"I hate you" I muttered with sleepy eyes as I walked over to the bathroom.

"I hate you more" I heard him say from behind me with a little groan.

Ryan Tenebris was the future Alpha of Senhla Pack- a neighboring pack of ColdTown, just across our borders.

Their town was governed by the great ruler- Draven Tenebris, Ryan's Dad.

Ryan might not look or act like this, but his dad was said to be the most powerful Alpha in the werewolf world seeing as he singlehandedly handled the biggest Pack in the werewolf world.

"Hmm" I muttered as I stared at my reflected in the mirror. I looked a mess. In fact, I am a mess. I've been working on my seventh unfinished projects for two months now and it was straining hell out of me. I was working on it yesterday till midnight before I fell asleep on it.

Speaking of project, my eyes snapped to my room where Ryan being Ryan was once again going through my stuffs. "Ryan!" I barged into my room. "Stay away from my stuffs.." I said, snatching my book from him. It's where my drafts are written.

"Fine, get ready Arielle, we don't have time to wait" He said as he walked further into the room.

god, he just won't stop snooping through my stuffs. I looked at the entrance and there was no trace of anyone coming.

"Where's Aiden?" I asked, looking away from the entrance and walking back into the bathroom.

"He should be here.." Ryan trailed off, looking at his watch. "anytime soon" He muttered.

I nodded and went back to looking at how much of a mess I looked and thinking about my future.

I was 17 now, and mateless, where there seemed to be zero hopes for me now, I hoped to find him on my 18th birthday, when most werewolves in ColdTown found theirs. I was an Omega too- to top my misfortunes. Ryan found his mate just two months ago, and Aiden was yet to find his and we're all in the same age range, so maybe there's still a little hope, just a little, 'cause Ryan just turned 18, and Aiden is the alpha prince and princes are prophesied to find their mate exactly on their 18th birthday , it's a thing here in Coldtown Pack.

And me, I'm almost eighteen I'll be eighteen in three months. Can't find a mate, check. Has three unfinished projects, check. Failing my school tests, check. In love with my best friend.. god, not this thought again.

Aiden was the alpha prince, and he would be the alpha soon. I'm just a lowly omega who was yet to find her mate nor her wolf. I can't.. I CANNOT FALL FOR MY BEST FRIEND.

"Don't touch that, she'll get mad and might even kick you in the groin" I heard Ryan say and my heart skipped a bit.

Aiden. He's here. I bit my lips slowly, took a quick glance at myself in the mirror again and fixed my hair hurriedly before walking out of the bathroom slowly.

Aiden Blackwood, my other bestfriend and the one that had my heart.

Isn't it hilarious how I've come to have two Alphas of two neighboring Packs as my bestfriend?

I found it hilarious too- everyone did. They gave judgmental stares whenever we walked together, even his father- Alpha Caden wasn't in support of our friendship, due to our differences.

But these two- they cared less.

We met at a park where I was playing with Ariana, my twin sister who as usual was enjoying picking on me. We were just six.

He raised his head and our eyes met. Blue eyes, sharp jawline, straight nose, perfect long black hair packed in a short ponytail, muscular arms yet lean, with tall straight legs.

I thought I saw a flicker in his eyes but it disappeared as quickly as it appeared. My eyes darted to the book in his hands and my eyes widened. I rushed to him then snatched the book from him, hugging it to my chest. He lowered his brows, folding his arms. "What's wrong, Ari?" He asked, amusement rising in his eyes.

Shit, he read them already. I straightened my posture and cleared my throat. "Nothing" I said, then dashed into the bathroom closing the door loudly behind me.

Fuck. I looked at the book in my hands, slowly opening the pages. The first page, "he fisted his grip on her hair, pushing her head backwards while he thrusted.." shit! I slammed the book on the basin.

He read that. A blush stained my cheeks immediately and I shut my eyes in embarrassment. I wish I'd just die here.

"Arielle! Get the fuck out of there!" That was Ryan screaming again.

I grabbed the book, pulled it behind me then walked outside trying to cover up my embarrassed face with boldness.

"And you two need to get out, I need to freshen up" I said without looking at them, packing my hair up and discreetly slipping the book inside my closet.

"Why do we have to?" That was Aiden. Flirty motherfucker.

I snapped my face to his and he only stared on with no single expression on his face, his lips only moved up in a smirk.

Fuck, even the little things he did turned me on. What? Did I just..

Fuck.

I looked away, then back again. "Out!.. you too out!" I turned to Ryan.

"Fine. You're so boring. Would've been nice seeing you naked or something, been long since I seen some real ass" He said, faking a yawn. He rolled his eyes as he walked past me, then walked out.

I turned to Aiden who only leaned against the study table. "What?" He asked like he didn't know what he was doing.

"Leave Aiden, don't get on my nerves" I said and he chuckled. I snapped my eyes right back at him. I couldn't miss that smile. Sadly, it left as fast as it had appeared.

"Nothing I haven't seen before, Ari" He said, straightening his posture, then he walked over to me. I blinked my lashes twice as I raised my eyes up to his height. He was practically towering over me.

"L.leave" I stuttered. Fuck, I shouldn't stutter. I can't make him think he has a hold on me or something. I mean, he does but Fuck it, I can't avoid slipping off.

He ignored me and only leaned in, down to my ears. He turned his face to mine, while I slowly moved my eyes to his without moving my head.

"If you need help with your unfinished projects, I'll be glad to help. Show you a few demonstrations here and there" He said. My eyes widened and I pushed him. He barely moved but was at least now an inch away from me.

My ears and cheeks went red immediately. Fuck him, he really did read them.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

When Love Turns to Ash

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
