Blurb: I hate you, Eddy Arnold, with every fiber of my being. Yet, my heart beats for you, a rhythm I can't escape. Why do I ache for you so desperately? Your hand on my back, your arm around my waist, your fingers weaving through my hair, your body pressed against mine. Your lips, like fire-spicy, searing-but I crave them more than anything. Eddy Arnold-my boss, the man who owns the biggest tech empire in New York. To cross him is to challenge the forces of hell itself. He's feared, revered... and the son of the devil in disguise. Brilliant, calculating, ruthless. The man every woman dreams of-yet his heart is as cold as ice. Fall for him? Good luck. You'll be left shattered, picking up the pieces of a heart he'll never care to hold. I got the rare chance to work as his secretary, thanks to my qualifications, after most companies turned me down for one reason: I'm selectively mute. But Eddy made me an offer-an offer I couldn't refuse. One that would pull me straight into his inferno. Join me as I walk this treacherous path, and see what the devil has in

The devil at the top Chapter 1 Meeting with the Devil

The loud pattering of the rain could not deter her from skipping across the wet and soggy streets of New York City as the butterflies not in her stomach this time,but flying round her head as her brain was still trying to process the rather strange request made by her to be boss; a disturbing one to her .

She walked slowly as a thousand and one thoughts ran through her mind;"Who the hell asks a would be secretary to live in a huge mansion for three weeks which means living with all those people she met today,apart from the general staff of about fifty employees,the Eddy family consisted of a stern looking mother and a poutful lady who Jenny could swear didn't like her,the title of the devil's child does fits him,she thought as she stepped into her street;

The guy must definitely be a psycho,she thought; a smirk appeared on her face as she recalled her expression when she met him for the first time face to face.

There were also two women in the house apart from his mother and the other lady,obviously his mistress, he concluded as she increased her pace.

"I blame Aunty Benita for not warning me about Eddy",she mouthed,recalling the cute golden eyeballs that she couldn't help but blush after staring at those adorable eyeballs .

"Look who's back",Fred called out as she staggered into the Kitchen frozen in rain,ignoring Fred she called out to aunty Benita,as expected,her sweet aunt already got a hot cup of tea ready as she rushed to cover her with a blanket;"you got me worried",she said.

"How was the interview"? Benita asked.

She watched her niece waltzed into the house drenched and beaten by the rain; even as she offered her the cup of steaming tea, she kept asking about her day at Arnold's mansion .

" It went well, Aunt Benita,"she snapped .

You didn't inform me Fred was going to be here tonight she remarked showing her full displeasure at his presence.

Oh!,"sorry I didn't inform you,Fred's celebrating his grandmother's second year death anniversary tonight and I thought a lovely dinner would be nice". Her aunt remarked with her sweet innocent voice as usual.

But he celebrated the same thing last month for christ sakes, Jenny cried out;

Nope ,that was my grandfather's safe return from the world war we celebrated , Fred answered from the bar,pouring himself a glass of champagne as Jenny stared at him angrily with a look of hate on her face.

"He comes up with the most unbelievable event when he's broke just to get a lovely dinner and night out,she thought,how stupid her aunt was".

" Don't talk about Fred in that manner",Aunty Benita replied as if she had read Jenny's mind.

Do you think he's lying?,she asked, the question was obviously directed towards her.

"Now apologize before I change my mind and also better start talking about how your job interview went",Aunty Benita remarked angrily.

I'm sorry ,Jenny muffled as she dropped her tea mug angrily and ran upstairs to her room.

"You don't have to be so hard on her ",Fred smiled sweetly, obviously proud of his fiancee.

********

It's been an hour since she left but those thoughts kept running through his head,those perfectly trimmed and manicured nails coupled with her fitted body ,her radiant smile was something he had not seen in a very long time.

The mute lady was obviously not his type, he thought as he unconsciously went into the kitchen where his mother was.

"What's wrong with you" ?..... Eddy jerked out of his reverie as his mother screamed out,Who's the slinky looking lady you brought into my house?,his mother asked.

Oh!, she's the only one who showed up for the post of secretary, he replied looking at his mother as she whirled off grumbling about him getting back to work rather than standing uselessly grinning like a ten year old boy.

"How about explaining the intricacies of the project ongoing at the company to Jessica",his mother retorted some minutes later,prompting him out of his fantasy time with the secretary lady.

Oh no mum!, Eddy shot back, "you know how hard it is explaining to Jessica and she's not even interested in tech stuffs anyways",

Eddy watched as Jessica slithered into the kitchen with those huge and open cleavages of hers

Jessica Ravens was the daughter of his mum's closest friend Toluene Ravens,who is currently on a honeymoon with her fourth husband and couldn't trust 23 year old Jessica alone in their 18 room mansion at Florida,and so asked if Jessica could spend the three months at his home.

Eddy realized at once that it must be another of his mother's plans to hook him up with a lady,he smiled as he remembered the first day she packed into Arnold's mansion,with an amused look on her face and her flirting and revealing dress his distaste for her grew instantly.

He had been forced by his mother to even introduce himself to the pompous lady as she struck him as a proud and lazy lady.

*********

As she laid on her bed that night, she realized she couldn't help but think of the events that unfolded during the day even as it dawned on her that she starts her training the next day In the mansion of the devil himself; she chuckled as she tried to juxtapose the cool demeanor side she saw and spoke with today to the cruel,ugly and evil thoughts that had been put in her head from Public opinion.

Those were the thoughts in her head as she drifted slowly leaving everyone including her aunt and her fiance dining.

The old mahogany wooden floors of the corridor creaked as she awoke to the sound of moving steps outside her room, she almost jumped out of her skin as she realized what was coming; tears flowed endlessly down her already reddened face as the steps got closer; she watched fearfully as the doorknob turned and the door gave way to the silhouette of a masculine figure which she quickly identified as Fred's, she opened her mouth but her tongues was stuck to the upper part of her mouth as words refused to come out because she knew what was coming.

She watched In dismay and contempt as he took off his pants to reveal the long pink dangling object between his legs;as it continued to get erect she knew it was going to be a long night for her as he grabbed her and shoved a muffler between her mouth even as her screams went unnoticed and her frail strength unable to match his muscular gait,she gasped for breath as she felt his manhood in her mouth.

That was her punishment for the rubbish talk she made earlier when he was in the kitchen;she continued her muffled cries as she watched him;the wicked and satisfying smile he had on his face made it even worse for Jenny. Fred was taking advantage of her and she knew it, but she just didn't know what to do.

Aunty Benita would never believe her and Fred would surely deny the whole incident.

Everything went and passed like a dream to her. In the whole world,only two things mattered to her,her parents and her love for the disabled and disadvantaged like herself.

And she had just lost half of her world,her parents were easy going people who distanced themselves from Any form of violence and "evil doings" as her mom often called it.

She felt so secure being around her parents that she became attached to them as she was always with either his mother or father,that she would sometimes skip school to help her father prepare for conferences and functions.

Her father worked as a charity manager with one of the smaller tech companies of New York city,her father's duty was to organize monthly charity programs to the underdeveloped part of the city with the little tech products they had remaining. Every month,her father made sure that some form of charity outreach was organized by his company which brought them some fame and patronage.

From attending those outreaches and meeting with a lot of other people,she decided that her life would be about sacrificing for others,just like her parents. Her parents once drove about a thousand miles away from the city to help a little boy with down's syndrome get to the hospital in the city.

Her father had collected his parents phone number earlier ;

"Just in case",her father had told his parents earlier. And now the little boy was really in need of help.

"What an angel my father was", Jenny thought to herself as memories of other good stuff and sacrifices she made personally came flooding to her memory.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

The Billionaire's Cold And Bitter Betrayal

The Billionaire's Cold And Bitter Betrayal

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."
