Chapter 1 Jones's Point Of View

The thunder was striking, descending on the earth, and heavy rainfall was falling at the moment, making it look horrific. Rains were falling, and I stood at the corner of my room, sniffing back my tears.

I knew what that meant. I just hated this life of mine. If only my stepfather would pity me.

A knock sounded on my door, and with a shock in me, I knew it was time.

"Open the door, you little brat," he pounded on the door heavily.

"Answer me or I'm breaking in," he yelled behind the door.

I shivered in fear as I stood up and opened the door. He slapped my face immediately.

"Ouch," I winced in pain.

"What took you so long, huh?" he hit me again.

"Don't you ever keep me waiting," he added another slap.

"Now go out there and make me some money," his voice echoed in my ears, cold and cruel.

"But father, it is raining heavily," I stammered as he hit me again.

"Go out and make money," he yelled at me harshly.

"I don't care how you do it, but you didn't come back home empty-handed, okay?"

I couldn't help but go out into that heavy rain. It was a part of me. If only I could use my powers, but I was nothing but a weak omega.

Deep down in my mind, I was praying for a miracle tonight, to see some cash to save myself from hell.

I started walking in the heavy rain, going to my usual spot to beg for alms. After so much begging in the rain, no one was walking by to the extent of dropping a penny.

There was nobody on the street at all. Everyone was probably at home, enjoying the cozy weather and getting rest for the activities ahead tomorrow.

When I was begging for alms, I decided to walk a bit. If I could see people around, then I saw a group of people staying under a canopy in the next direction.

I looked well before crossing towards their side and begged for alms. "Please help me, I need to eat," I said with tears flowing down my cheeks.

They turned towards me, and I could see I chatted with the wrong people. They were gangsters.

"Huh, you need money?" one asked.

"You aren't bad actually. If you can just offer me your body for a night," he chuckled.

"No, I won't offer you my body. Just give me money," I pleaded.

"Give me your pussy," he mimicked me as the gang laughed out loud.

"Stay away from us so we don't mess you up for your parents," the bossy one said.

"Does she have a parent? I'm very sure she is an orphan. No parent would allow her daughter to be born by this time," another one commented as he chuckled.

"You will be sweet to have fun with," he smirked.

"Oh, please, I'm nothing but an innocent girl. Just spare me any penny you have," I said.

He reached his hand towards my chest, and I shuddered it away. I knew what I was doing. I was looking for a way to hijack one of their purses.

Going home empty-handed means a death torture for me. "You little punk, how dare you push my hand away," he yelled at me.

"I can do that if you pass your boundaries," I stated.

"It's the confidence for me," one scoffed.

"Oh, please, can someone warn this beggar before I descend on her," he yelled as my eyes kept tracing his wallet, and finally, I got it. I dipped my hand in his pocket and ran off.

"Hey, you little thief," he yelled.

"Get her," all of his gang started running towards me. I started getting tired and began to pant heavily. I entered into a dustbin, hiding myself in there.

"Where do you think she was?" he questioned.

"Hey, you go there, and you there," he directed as they all dispersed from the dustbin. I peeped and looked around to see if they were gone and came outside

.

I immediately hurried home, smelling like trash. I banged the door hard. "Father, please open the door," I screamed in fear so those gangsters wouldn't come get me.

I heard their voices coming near, and my brother opened the door for me at the minute. I hurriedly entered, locking the door and switching off the light.

I panted in and out. "Control yourself, Jones," I uttered to myself.

"Thank you so much, Johnny," I hugged him tightly.

I brought out the wallet and counted the dollars I collected. It was huge. I guess they were more than gangsters but thieves.

"I hope father will be impressed," I sighed.

"Let's go to sleep, Johnny," I said to him when the voice of my cruel and cold stepfather sounded.

"Uhhmm," he cleared his throat, switching on the light.

"Where have you been, you worthless omega?" he yelled.

"Answer me," he bellowed.

"Father, you sent me out to get money, which I did," I replied to him

.

"Then where is the money, huh?" he uttered, unbuckling his belt.

"Here you go, father," I quickly handed it over to him to avoid being beaten by him.

"This is not enough," he angrily stares as he counts the money.

"I need more money. This can't feed you and your brother."

"Now go to the poultry and check how many chickens laid eggs. Make sure you sell everything at the supermarket, okay?" he bellowed

.

"Now, why do you smell like trash?" he questioned me

.

Now, after God saved me from not returning empty-handed, he started to scold me for smelling like trash.

I wonder how my mom feels in heaven. I sniffed back my tears. "I will go change, father," I stood up with my younger brother, going into the room.

"Make sure I don't wake you up tomorrow morning, so you won't regret it," he yelled.

For seventeen years, I was the pride of the Carlisle family, the perfect daughter destined to inherit an empire. But that life ended the moment a DNA report slid across my father’s mahogany desk. The paper proved I was a stranger. Vanessa, the girl sobbing in the corner, was the real biological daughter they had been searching for. "You need to leave. Tonight. Before the press gets wind of this. Before the stock prices dip." My father’s voice was as cold as flint. My mother wouldn't even look at me, staring out the window at the gardens as if I were already a ghost. Just like that, I was erased. I left behind the Birkin bags and the diamonds, throwing my Centurion Card into a crystal bowl with a clatter that echoed like a gunshot. I walked out into the cold night and climbed into a rusted Ford Taurus driven by a man I had never met—my biological father. I went from a mansion to a fourth-floor walk-up in Queens that smelled of laundry detergent and struggle. My new siblings looked at me with a mix of fear and disgust, waiting for the "fallen princess" to break. They expected me to beg for my old life back, to crumble without the luxury I’d known since birth. But they didn't know the truth. I had spent years training in a shark tank, honing survival skills they couldn't imagine. While Richard Carlisle froze my trust funds to starve me out, my net worth was climbing by millions on an encrypted trading app. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves. They didn't realize they were just letting me off my leash. As the Carlisles prepared to debut Vanessa at the Manhattan Arts Gala, I was already making my move. "Get dressed. We're going to a party."

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.
