Unlike her brother, Lillian Scott has a great relationship with her parents and she was greatly cherished and adored by them, especially her father. At the same time, unlike her brother, Lillian was oblivious to her parent's dark activities. Shielded, Lillian wasn't really aware of the organization her father was involved in or how he was affiliated with the so-called Godfather, who became the cause of her whole family-perfect picture shattering right before her eyes. Her parents made a huge mistake and paid for it with their lives, and her brother who doesn't care about anything else other than protecting her, was forcefully ripped away from her. Lillian's whole life collapsed in a matter of one night and she became an emotional roller coaster of unending negative feelings.Darius Anderson (Godfather), the head of all bosses himself, whose true identity is only known by a few people. One would think that his position, wealth and affluence automatically means he is a cruel and ruthless crime boss. No, Darius was a fierce but just leader who still believed in the morals of humanity. But there are two things Darius believes should never be forgiven, it's betrayal and dishonesty. Both were exhibited by Lillian's father which led to the demise of his parents and his sister being in a coma.Darius' rules doesn't go by the saying; a life for a life. For him, it's double lives for a life. Anyone that has the courage to go behind his back and plot against him should also have the courage to bear the gruesome consequences. After all, the Godfather never forgives betrayal. The normal plan would be to put an end to the existence of the whole Scott family but this time, things were different. For Darius bent his own rule for a girl seven years younger than him. He found her so vulnerable and faultless that he just didn't want her life taken.Darius was furious by the undeserved death granted to his parents but alas!, he wasn't the only one enraged by the act. His parents were revered by many people from associate families and when the news went out that he spared the daughter of a traitor, not everyone took the news with nonchalance. They thirst for Lillian's blood and even though Darius understands their grievances, he couldn't just sit idly and let her be gotten rid of. All he did was have empathy on an innocent girl and spare her from the repercussions of her parent's sins but clearly, she is not as safe as he thought she would be.So, he did something unexpected by taking her under his wings. Would anyone dare touch the Godfather's ward right under his nose? The answer is NO! For he would kill to protect her. He took her in under the condition that she would be kept alive and care for his sister till she gets out of coma. If it ever happened that his sister dies, Lillian dies too. Lillian had no choice, she carried out her duty with all vigor believing that her performance would also determine her brother's well-being even though she doesn't know whether he was still alive or not.Months went by and finally, Darius's sister woke up. Lillian was overjoyed not just because she was now free but also because she has been genuinely wishing for the lady to wake up. The time came to ask for her freedom and that of her brother's. However, Darius refused to let her go. As soon as she steps away from under his protection, her life would end but Lillian doesn't know that. Aside from that, his heart has grown fond of the girl, even though he never showed it. Of course, the feeling was mutual, but Lillian wanted to be free. That is all she had ever wished for, even before the demise of her parents.Series of events would take place indicating the struggle between Darius' feelings and Lillian's desperate need for freedom. But their love for each other grew and it was so deep that they conquered every challenges they faced. However, an incident would occur which greatly relates to Sage, Lillian's twin brother. She would arrive at a fork in the road where she would have to make a painful choice between logical reasoning and her love for Darius. Because at the end of the day, whether her parents deserved it or not, the fact that Darius was the cause of her parent's death still stands. All in all, all misunderstandings would be cleared, a forgiving heart would be administered and the act of understanding would play a huge role in each of their lives. The journey of the Godfather and his ward won't exactly be taken on a smooth path but in the end, all the potholes and bumps would all be worth it as they would find their deepest cravings in each other.

Chapter 1 One

"Stars. Look, there are many stars tonight."

"I still don't understand why we have to sneak in." Sage muttered, ignoring Lillian's statement.

"Lower your voice. We have to, I can't let dad find out about this. You will be in trouble." Lillian panicked.

The backdoor leads to the kitchen, and going through the kitchen, Lillian could easily sneak into Sage's room, as opposed to her room which was upstairs.

"He probably already know, Lillian. Let's get this over with, I need to go back to Pete's after making sure you get to your room." Sage told her, as they tread silently towards the back door of the house.

"Why can't you just stay? It's past midnight already. It's not safe driving back by this time." She said worriedly.

"Nope. I have to help the guys clean up. The party was for me after all, abandoning them would be rude."

"But you could go back tomorrow and clean up with them." Lillian suggested.

"I'm not staying, Lillian. Walk faster." He urged and Lillian's shoulder drooped at her failed attempt as she walked faster.

They got to the backdoor and the guard there stepped aside. He didn't bow like the guards usually do and his face wasn't familiar at all to Sage. Not that he knew all the guards but he's familiar with their faces at least and his father doesn't change guards that often.

"Lillian wait." He said as she placed her hand on the door handle.

"There's no time to waste, Sage." Lillian said, wasting no time in yanking the door open and dragging Sage in by his arm.

"Lillian-"

"You really like getting into trouble, don't you?" Lillian whispered still dragging Sage along as she tiptoed out of the kitchen.

The scene in front of them however made Sage immediately get in front of her, protecting her from view as he held her hand behind his back.

"Would you look at that? This gets even better." An unknown voice came from an unfamiliar man.

Lillian was already shaking as she peeped behind Sage's back to see multiple armed men surrounding their parents, who were kneeling on the floor, with guns to their heads.

Her mom let out a sob as she saw her children arrive in the right place, but definitely at the wrong time. Her dad's stern face also turned into a panicked one as he stares back at her.

Sage turned in a flash, dragging Lillian along in an attempt to make it out the same way they came but he came to an abrupt stop when he saw that the guard that was by the back door earlier was now blocking their way, with a dangerous smirk on his face.

There was no time to think, he tackled the man down within seconds and pushed Lillian towards the kitchen urging her to escape. Lillian was shocked.

"Go Lillian!!" He shouted with his back to her, waiting to tackle down anyone trying to go after her.

Very hesitantly, Lillian obeyed running out through the back door with the little strength she had left in her. She became mentally weak and her whole body was shutting down.

When she was a few meters away from the house, she halted, looking back.

Where would she even go? What was she doing leaving all of them in there and running away by herself? What if that was the last she ever saw of them?

A life without her parents would be gloom. A life without Sage wouldn't be life at all.

Lillian was confused so she starts going towards the house. A few steps forward, a few steps backwards, while Sage was busy fighting off the men and effectively blocking the entrance just to make sure his sister has enough time to escape.

Lillian was still pacing.

But wouldn't her parents want her to escape no matter what even if they end up dying this night? Wouldn't Sage be disappointed if she got caught after all the efforts he just made to make sure she escaped?

Lillian halted, she was paralyzed on the spot not knowing what to do.

"Let me make a choice for you."

Lillian gasped at the voice and turned around, almost falling. She sighed when she saw that it was their head bodyguard, Oliver. But was she really safe?
