Kael publicly humiliates her, claiming she is too weak to be his Luna. Heartbroken, Elena flees into the wilderness, vowing never to return. As Elena runs, she is ambushed by a rogue werewolf pack. Just as she is about to be killed, a mysterious figure intervenes, saving her. The figure's eyes glow an unnatural gold-a color she has never seen before in a werewolf. Five Years Later The bustling streets of a human city, far from werewolf territories. Elena has built a new life as a human, suppressing her wolf side. She works as a bartender and lives in a small apartment. She has nightmares of her past but tries to move on. One night, a group of werewolves enters the bar. They recognize her scent and reveal that Kael, now Alpha, has been searching for her. They demand she return to the pack. Elena refuses, but the next morning, she wakes up in the forest, back in werewolf territory, with no memory of how she got there. INCITING INCIDENT Kael confronts Elena, claiming she is still his mate and must fulfill her duty as Luna. He reveals the pack is under threat from a powerful enemy, and her presence is necessary to unite the pack. Elena discovers Kael has a new mate, Selene, a fierce and beautiful werewolf who despises her. Selene warns Elena to stay away from Kael. During a pack meeting, Elena's wolf unexpectedly emerges for the first time in years, and her eyes glow the same unnatural gold as her mysterious savior from five years ago. The pack is stunned, and Kael looks at her with a mix of fear and desire. Elena researches the golden-eyed wolves and discovers they are part of a legendary lineage thought to be extinct. They are known as the Golden Crescent, wolves with the power to control moonlight and shadows. Elena learns that her savior from five years ago was Darius, a rogue Alpha and the last known member of the Golden Crescent. He has been watching over her ever since. Darius appears in her dreams, warning her that Kael's pack is in grave danger and that she must embrace her true nature to save them. RISING ACTION In a hidden cave in the forest Elena meets Darius in person. He reveals that they are true mates, but he stayed away to protect her from his enemies. He offers her a choice: stay with Kael and the pack or leave with him to embrace her destiny. Elena feels a strong connection to Darius but is torn between her duty to the pack and her desire for freedom. As they talk, they are ambushed by rogues working for the enemy pack. Darius is injured, and Elena must fight to protect him, unleashing her golden wolf powers for the first time. In the enemy pack's territory, the enemy Alpha, Malakai, reveals his plan to destroy the Silver Fang Pack and claim Elena's powers for himself. He believes her golden wolf abilities are the key to unlocking an ancient werewolf artifact that grants ultimate power. Malakai has a spy within the Silver Fang Pack, feeding him information about Elena's movements. The spy is revealed to be someone close to Elena, leaving her unsure of who to trust. CLIMAX Elena confronts Kael about the spy, but he refuses to believe her. Selene accuses Elena of trying to sabotage the pack. Tensions rise, and the pack is divided. Elena discovers that Selene is the spy, working with Malakai to overthrow Kael and claim the pack for herself. Before Elena can expose Selene, Malakai's forces attack the pack, and Elena is captured. In Malakai's lair, Malakai forces Elena to unlock the ancient artifact using her golden wolf powers. As she does, she experiences visions of the past, revealing that the Golden Crescent werewolves were wiped out by a betrayal within their own ranks. Elena realizes that Darius is not just a rogue Alpha but the rightful heir to the Golden Crescent legacy. She also learns that Kael's ancestors were responsible for the betrayal.
Elena's Pov
The city was alive and filled with noise, cars honking, distant chattering and people talking. I was quite different from where I was from.
The Howling state had two places: the city and the ever growing forest.
The noise replaced the wind that blew through the forest tree, people walking in sidewalks replaced the rustling of leaves and the howling of wolves was replaced with the unlimited chattering of humans.
But fun fact--I loved it.
This busy city helped me forget the memories that haunted me. The only time it came was when the moon was high in the sky and all the noise had been drawn out.
I got busy wiping down the bar, the air mixed with alcohol and fried food-my comfort smell. Here in this place I was just Elena-the bar attendant with a quick smile and a knack for listening.
No one knew who I was. No one knew I had a wolf locked away inside me for the past five years.
No one knew about the night I ran out of the pack to the wilderness with a broken heart and left to bleed out in the wilderness.
"Elena!" I heard my name being called, I turned to look who called me-it was Mike, one of the regular customers in the bar.
"Another round!" He yelled as he raised his glass up. I gave a forced smile and picked up the jug and walked to pour his drink.
As I poured his drink my mind began to wander and it brought me back to the awful memories of five years ago.
I could still see Kael's face as he spewed out words of hate. His face was cold and unwelcoming as he rejected me in front of the entire pack.
"You are weak!"
"You will never be my Luna."
Those words were my worst nightmare and I could cry all day but I tried to hold myself.
The words were like strong lashes of wipes, which would hit me as I ran through the forest. Ever since, I made a promise to never go back.
But life finds a way to mock you.
The door of the bar was pushed open and a gush of wind mixed with earth and pine smell filled the bar.
I froze in my spot. My hand held the glass jar as tight as I could.
That scent was undeniable-werewolves!
My heart pounded slowly and as my eyes turned to scan the room. Right by the doorway, three huge figures stood, with their commanding presence which was enough to get the attention of the bar even with the dim light.
They had huge muscular bodies and their eyes had a silver glow-something they used to see in the dark.
"Wolves" I said to myself
My breath was caught in my throat as I recognized them so easily.
They were from the silver fangs pack.
They shouldn't be here, why are they in the human world? Why are they in the world I choose to hide?
Their eyes fell on me and they locked their gaze on me, like a predator would do to its prey.
"Elena," the one in the middle called my name. His name was Marcus, Kael's third in command. He stepped forward, his eyes narrowing down at me, "we've been looking for you."
I drop the jar down, my hands shaking with a racing mind. How was this possible? How did they find me? I had been careful enough to cover my tracks, bury my wolf scent but they had managed to track me down.
"I don't know what you are talking about." I lied with a straight face even though my heart was doing back flips.
"You've got the wrong person." I said with a shaky voice, which I tried to mask.
Marcus lips curled up in a smirk, "don't plat dumb, Elena. We can smell you from a far distance, you are coming with us."
The customers at the bar began to notice the tension between me and the newcomers. Their voices began to lower down as they nervously looked at the scene in front of them.
My mind was racing-I couldn't shift in front of these people and I didn't want to go with the bullies either.
I had spent five years building a life of peace and happiness and I won't let them take it away just like that.
"I'm not going anywhere!" My voice firm, I reached under the counter, slowly taking out a knife which was hidden there. It won't do much to a werewolf but it was better than nothing.
"You don't have a choice, Elena. Kael's orders. We are to make sure you return back to the pack." Marcus said with a straight face.
Kael....that name made me jolt. It was an expression of anger and something else. He had rejected, humiliated and cast me aside, does he want me back in the pack? Is he summoning me like a lost pet?
No--I wouldn't let that happen.
"Tell Kael I said he should go to hell." I said, my grip tightened around the knife, "I am not his mate anymore and I am no longer part of your pack....So, I don't owe him anything anymore."
Marcus' eyes flash through as he steps forward, "You don't get to decide that, Elena, you are part of the silver fangs pack and as a pack we listen to our Alpha and his orders."
Before I could say anything more, he jumped over the bar. His hands grabbed my wrist. The knife I held fell to the floor as he pulled me forward, his grip as tough as iron.
I struggled to pull out of his grip but it was no use, he was way too strong.
"Let me go, Marcus!" I snarled and my wolf awakened and threatened to break free but I held back from shifting, not here.
Marcus ignored my plea and began dragging me out of the bar, through the door. The other customers just stared as they were all scared to make any move against the three hefty men.
I was desperate as I stared for a way out but found none.
I was trapped!
Just then I felt something heavy hit my head and the last thing I saw was Marcus face, smirking.
