Adrian , now an alpha in his own right, sees this as his second chance to reclaim his lost love and protect their hidden family. As they search for the kidnapper, the intense connection between Amelia and Adrian reignites, but they must keep their true feelings a secret, for Adrian is bound by an arranged mate. In the midst of all these enters Leroy a charismatic and mysterious werewolf who claims to have the key to the kidnapper's identity and who also turns out to be Amelia's second chance mate. A love triangle ensues, further complicating Amelia and Adrian's journey. Amid emotional turmoil and the looming threat of Adrian's arranged mate, Amelia and Adrian must confront their past mistakes, protect their triplets, and make choices that will determine their love's destiny. Will they rekindle their bond and unite as mates, or will Adrian be drawn to her second chance mate?

Chapter 1 The Unexpected Rejection

Amelia,s Pov

"What! This is a joke, right?" I asked Adrian while expecting him to smile at least so that I would know that he was joking, but he didn't; instead, he gave me that stare he had always given me whenever he was serious.

"Seriously? So you are breaking up with me after all these years we have stayed together?" I asked him, my voice raising in anger.

"Yes, I am," he said to me without any feeling of remorse.

"Can I at least know why you are breaking up with me?" I asked him while blinking my eyes in order to prevent the tears that were already forming in my eyes from dropping.

"I don't think I owe you any explanation," he said to me while peering into my eyeballs.

"You don't owe me any explanation?" I asked him while shaking my head in disbelief, and immediately he nodded positively.

"I woke up and realized that I'm no longer in love with you; maybe it's because I was never in love with you in the first place; what I felt towards you was just a mere infatuation," he said to me with a calm and sincere tone.

Once he said those words to me, I felt as if a bucket of water were being dosed on me, and without realizing it, the tears that I had been trying hard to hold back started streaming down my cheeks.

I don't know what took over me, and immediately I ran towards him and started hitting him with all my energy.

"How dare you say that to me? I am your destined mate," I said to him while hitting him with all my energy, but without putting any effort in, he grabbed my two hands, pushed me away, and immediately crumbled on the floor while sobbing bitterly.

"I, Adrian Darlington, reject you, Amelia Banks, as my mate and future Luna of the Wolfenwood Pack," he said to me without any emotion.

Once he uttered those statements to me, I raised my head and looked at him, a warm smile hovering over my face.

I could clearly see the shock written all over his face. Surely he was expecting me to sob more or even beg him to accept me back, but I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction. I will never allow someone who just told me that he never loved me right from the beginning to step on my dignity.

"What are you waiting for? Accept the rejection," he urged me, and immediately the warm smile hovering over my face was replaced by an angry stare.

"Never in your dreams," I said to him, my eyes boring into him.

With that, he squatted down and peered into my eyeballs.

"Suit yourself," he said to me before standing up and walking towards the entrance of the palace.

Once he arrived at the doorpost, he stopped and turned his gaze towards me.

"I better not see you here when I come out," he said to me before walking into the palace.

Once he walked away, I stood up from the ground and ran out of the palace with hot tears streaming down my cheeks.

Before him, I might have pretended not to be affected, but deep down, I was. I could feel my wolf whimpering in pain too.

Actually, Adrian and I had been together since childhood, right after the deaths of my parents. At first, we were just friends, but with time, we both fell in love with each other.

The only thing we were afraid of was not being fated to each other when we turned eighteen, but it seemed like the moon goddess knew the desire of our hearts. Yesterday, which was the day we turned eighteen, we were astonished to discover that we were fated to each other. It was the happiest day of our lives; we celebrated it to the fullest, and I even allowed him to take my virginity since he was already my destined mate.

Afterwards, he was supposed to present me as his mate to his father, who is also the Alpha of our Pack, but he asked me to wait so that he would inform his father about it first before coming to fetch me. I waited for him throughout the whole day, but I didn't see him.

This morning, through our mind link, he asked me to come over to the palace because he had something to tell me. I was so overjoyed because I knew that he was finally going to present me to his father, but my joy turned to bitterness when he informed me that he wanted us to put an end to our relationship, not minding the fact that I am his mate.

With all these thoughts hovering over my mind, I couldn't help but shed tears uncontrollably; in less than five minutes, I was already at home because our house wasn't far from the palace.

Once I got home, I ran into the house, and without even saying a greeting to my uncle, who was busy preparing his herbal medicine as usual, I ran into my room and shot the door from behind.

As I was in my room crying my eyes out, I heard my uncle knocking on the door, but I remained silent.

"Amelia, it's me; please open up," my uncle said to me from behind the door.

"Please go away; I don't feel like talking to anyone," I said to him with a sober tone.

"Please come and open up; you know you can talk to me about anything," he said to me with a pleading tone.

"No, just leave me alone," I said to him in a harsh tone.

"I'm not going away until you open this door," he said to me, and immediately I sighed heavily, knowing that he wouldn't leave until I opened up.

After some minutes of hesitation, I stood up, walked to the door, and opened it while wiping away the tears that were on my face.

"Were you crying?" He asked me while coming inside the room.

"No, I wasn't," I replied while avoiding his gaze.

"Of course you were; what is wrong?" he asked me with all the care in the world while sitting beside me on my bed.

"Tell me, am I not beautiful?" I asked him, but he furrowed his brows at me in surprise.

"Of course you are beautiful," he said to me, a warm smile hovering over his face.

"Even though I am an Omega*, don't I deserve to be loved?" I asked him once again, and immediately he smiled gently at me while maintaining his surprised stare.

"Of course you deserve to be loved; we all deserve to be loved despite our kindness," he said to me.

"Then why did he reject me?" I asked him, and immediately he understood why I was asking him all those questions.

"Ooh, sorry, my dear," he said to me before hugging me tightly.

"He isn't worthy of you; the moon goddess will surely give you another mate worthy of your love," my uncle said to me while hugging me tightly. If there was something I needed at that moment, it was a shoulder to cry on, and he gave that to me.

"Thank you for cheering me up," I said to him when I was finally feeling a little better.

"Don't mention it, my dear; you know that I don't like seeing you cry," he said to me, and immediately I faked a smile at him.

"Ooh, I almost forgot. The Alpha had summoned everyone to come to the palace; hurry up and get prepared. You know the Alpha doesn't like it when people respond late to his calling," he said to me before leaving my room.

If it depended on me, I wouldn't have gone because I wasn't ready to see Adrian's face after what he did to me, but I had no choice. The Alpha doesn't take it likely when people don't respond to his calling.

It didn't take me long before I was done preparing, and without wasting more time, I came out and joined my uncle, and we started heading to the palace.

When we got to the palace, it was already filled by the Pack members; we had to drag our way inside in order to see what was going on in the front.

When we finally got to the front, I saw Adrian standing kneeling before his father and, beside him, another she-wolf who looked familiar, but I couldn't see her face because both of them were backing us.

When I saw another she-wolf standing beside the person who I have loved through out my entire life, the remaining part of my heart that was still trying to hold on shattered into pieces. I haven't finished registering that when they stood up and turned around, and to my greatest surprise, the she-wolf that was standing beside him was no one else but Stacey, my best friend.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.
