For years, Adele Kenneth has been a ghost in her own pack-an omega orphan with no place, no power, and no future. But everything changes the night she shifts for the first time... and her wolf calls to the most feared Alpha in the realm. Drake Anders is known as the Shadow Alpha, a ruthless leader with a past stained in blood. He doesn't believe in fated mates-until the moment he lays eyes on Adele. But claiming her would ignite a war, for she belongs to the very pack that slaughtered his family. Torn between vengeance and an undeniable bond, Drake must decide: will he defy fate and let Adele go, or will he risk everything to keep her by his side? With enemies lurking in the shadows and secrets threatening to destroy them both, their love may be the only thing powerful enough to rewrite destiny-or doom them forever.

Fated to the shadow Alpha Chapter 1 1

Adele Kenneth's POV

Moonlight painted silver streaks across the dense forest, the whispering wind sending chills down my spine. My heart pounded in my chest, louder than the rustling leaves beneath my bare feet. They would find me soon- I had no doubt. The moment I shifted, everything changed.

The pack never expected me to survive my first transformation. For years, they mocked my weak bloodline, an omega with no rank, no power, nothing to offer. But tonight, my wolf emerged with a strength that sent fear rippling through them.

Torn branches lashed at my skin as I sprinted through the trees, lungs burning with each frantic breath. The scent of damp earth mixed with my own fear, a potent combination that would only make it easier for them to track me. I needed to keep running, to put as much distance as possible between me and the hell I was leaving behind. A deep snarl echoed behind me. My pulse leapt. They were closing in.

Panic clawed at my throat, but I pushed forward, legs trembling from the shift still fresh in my body. My wolf whined in protest, urging me to stop, to fight, but I wasn't ready. The odds were against me- I was alone.

A branch snapped just ahead. My instincts screamed a warning, but it was too late. A massive shape lunged from the darkness, knocking me off my feet. My body slammed into the dirt, the force of impact stealing the air from my lungs. Hot breath ghosted over my neck.

Alpha Maddox.

The scent of pine and blood filled my nostrils. His wolf loomed over me, amber eyes gleaming with rage.

"Running, are we?" His voice was a growl, filled with venom. "Did you really think you could escape, Adele?"

My body refused to move, every muscle locked in terror.

"You were never meant to survive," he continued, claws sinking into my arm as he leaned closer. "A pathetic omega like you... carrying the mark of something unnatural."

He knew.

He had seen it the moment I shifted-my wolf wasn't ordinary. It was stronger. Faster. Something ancient that shouldn't exist in a runt like me.

His claws dug deeper, pain searing through my skin. My wolf snarled inside me, anger rising like a wildfire. A howl split the night. A sound so deep and commanding it sent shivers through the air.

Maddox stiffened.

Another presence stalked from the shadows, its power suffocating.

A wolf, larger than any I had ever seen, stepped into the moonlight. Midnight black fur rippled over a body carved for war, and golden eyes locked onto me with an intensity that made my breath hitch.

Drake Anders.

The Shadow Alpha.

My fated mate.

Drake Anders' POV

The scent of blood tainted the air, thick with the stench of fear.

My wolf prowled forward, every muscle coiled with lethal precision. I had been tracking this moment for days, drawn by a pull I couldn't explain. Now, standing in the clearing, I understood why.

A girl lay on the ground, fragile in the grip of the wolf above her.

Maddox.

A growl rumbled deep in my chest, vibrating through the ground. He was nothing more than a coward, preying on the weak to feel powerful.

His head snapped up, eyes narrowing.

"This is Bloodmoon territory," he sneered. "Stay out of pack business, Anders."

His mistake was thinking I gave a damn about his rules.

My gaze dropped to the girl beneath him. Adele. Her name surfaced in my mind like a whisper, unbidden but unshakable. She was mine. Everything inside me screamed it.

Maddox had his claws in what belonged to me.

My wolf surged forward before I could stop him. A blur of movement, a flash of fangs-Maddox barely had time to react before I slammed into him, sending him sprawling across the ground.

Adele gasped, scrambling back as I stood between them.

A warning growl rumbled from my throat. "Touch her again, and I'll rip your heart out."

Maddox staggered to his feet, eyes dark with fury. "You don't know what she is."

"I don't need to." My voice was deadly calm. "She's mine."

Shock flickered across his face. The weight of my words sank in.. Fated mates. The bond pulsed between us, invisible yet undeniable.

Maddox's lip curled, but he wasn't foolish enough to challenge me. He knew he couldn't win. With a final snarl, he turned and disappeared into the trees. Silence stretched between us. Adele still hadn't moved. She looked at me, eyes wide, body trembling.

"Why?" Her voice was barely a whisper.

My fingers curled into fists. "Because fate doesn't make mistakes."

Her breath hitched. Neither of us spoke. But deep down, I knew- this was only the beginning.

For three years, I was the perfect, invisible wife to Bart Brown. On our third anniversary, I stood in the kitchen for four hours, preparing his favorite meal with imported truffles, only to receive a cold text command. "Crysta fainted again. Get to the hospital. Now." My rare Rh-negative blood was the only thing the Brown family valued. Bart didn't want a wife; he wanted a walking blood bank for his "sick" best friend, Crysta. While I was fainting from chronic anemia, Crysta was smirking in her hospital bed, clutching Bart's hand and mocking my "peasant" lifestyle. Even his mother treated me like a servant, demanding I vacuum the floors after I'd already offered my veins for the hundredth time. When I finally reached my breaking point and signed the divorce papers, they didn't let me go quietly. They filed a false police report, accusing me of stealing a multi-million dollar diamond necklace just to watch me crawl. I didn't understand how a family could be so heartless. I had cooked their meals, cleaned their house, and literally bled for them, yet they were determined to ruin my life the moment I stopped being useful. Did they really think I was a nobody with nowhere to go? Standing outside the hospital with a bruised wrist and nothing to my name, I didn't cry. I simply took off my cheap wedding ring and dialed a secure line I hadn't touched since the day I married him. "It's me, Dad," I whispered as a fleet of black Maybachs rounded the corner. "The extraction is a go. I'm coming home."

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ "I want to get a divorce, Mark," I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time-even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
