To be a Werewolf was to be strong, brave, fierce and united as one pack. To honour the Moon goddess above all and the safety of the pack as your utmost duty. These are the words my Father, Edward Gray - a pack warrior of the Luminous tribe has taught me ever since I learnt to kill.
There was nothing wrong in his words, that is until he refused to teach me how to fight as it was against the Pack rules, set by Alpha Terris. How were the females expected to defend the pack, if they were banned from being warriors?. I would sooner commit suicide than put my Life in the hands of the Males who thought they were better than everybody else. After all it was due to this stupid rule, that my Mother died.
I shook my head to remove the unnecessary thoughts clouding my mind as I dodged a massive claw aiming for my neck. With practiced finesse, I edged backwards just enough for the claw to whizz past my head taking a few furs, then with a burst, rammed my head into the black Wolf's chest, sending him tumbling back. As I dug my paws into the ground, readying for another charge, the black wolf - Dylan, signaled for me to stop.
Rising from the ground in his full towering height, he started to transform into his more slender but still power packed form. A few seconds later, a naked, young man with dark brown eyes, set jaws and a muscular physique, stood before me;
"It's enough for today Evelyn!, before you break my old back. Not even a pack warrior should be able to match up to you now."
I growl in displeasure - in my wolf state, I could not speak actual words but thankfully Dylan had known me long enough to at least understand my gestures.
"You've always been a feisty pup. I still don't know what makes you so strong but I doubt there's anything I can teach you anymore. It is getting late, let's hurry home."
With that, Dylan took off into the green foliage of the forest, disappearing in seconds. I chased after him in my wolf form and easily passed the cursing werewolf. Dylan had been a great friend since childhood - we grew up together and even had some romantic moments between us, though we never went too far. After seeing the relationship between my parents before my mother died, I wanted to keep my virginity for my Mate and though we prayed to be Mates but the Moon goddess had other plans.
We were still so close despite not being mates, enough for Dylan to break Pack rules and teach me to fight secretly. We made sure no one knew, but my intuition told me that my Father knew exactly what I was doing. Even though my Father was a pack warrior, I doubt he liked the rule put in place by the Alpha, especially when it caused the death of his Mate or would want his daughter to grow up defenseless. So he turned a blind eye.
The feeling of the wind caressing my white fur as I bounded across the forest - I lived for it. I was finally able to gain the acknowledgement of Dylan who was acclaimed the third best youngling warrior in the tribe. It had only been months since I started learning yet I was able to beat Dylan, an insane feat that was only possible due to my physique. Ever since I got my Wolf, I found out that I was stronger and faster than most werewolves, I didn't know why but my Father always said I was special. Most females would have hurt their necks by ramming into the broad chest of a wolf like Dylan, yet I was able to send him tumbling.
.....
My tribe - the Luminous Pack, was a big tribe with one of the strongest Alpha in the continent. But made up of only men, our Warrior's population was like that of a medium tribe - though we made up for it with our men being more fierce.
I made it to the pack settlement in the late evening. I tried to move stealthily because my Father was on patrol today, but of course he was standing right where he always did, his eyes trained right on me. It was hard to be sneaky with white fur after all. I started to morph back into my human form, my white fur and canines receding and my bones popping as my white hair fluttered in the air and I stood on two feet. Wearing a green gown that was just enough to cover my nudity, I raised my head to look into the brown eyes of my Father - Edward Gray.
"Where are you coming from Eve?, you were meant to be gathering wood with the other females".
"I already gathered my share of woods today, then I went sightseeing In the forest", I replied curtly, barely trying to come up with a better excuse.
My Father rubbed his eyebrow in exasperation, mumbling something like, "being a single parent is..." I couldn't get the rest of the words but I understood the gist of it. Rolling my eyes I waited for a while before my Father gestured for me to go into the settlement. But before I left him, he said;
"Be careful today Eve, Prince Luther is visiting and I want you to be on your best behaviour".
I scrunch my face up in disgust at the name, before I nod to assure my father. Luther was the Lycan Prince and heir to the royal throne now that the Lycan King was dead. He had been visiting most major tribes before his coronation to build 'a lasting bond', but his last visit still left a bad taste in my mouth. Nevertheless, that was a problem for Alpha Terris to worry about, not a common female like me.
It was later I realised that it was a very big problem for me.
