In the sudden stillness, Logan cupped my face. His eyes-midnight storms, Cage-family black-burned with something raw. "Marry me." I blinked. "What?" "Marry me." His thumb swept my bottom lip. "Properly." I leaned back, searching for mockery, teasing but I found none. "Why? Because I'm the mother of your scandalously illegitimate heir?" "No." His forehead pressed to mine. "Because I want you. ..... Chapter 1 Sacrificial Lamb

A wedding night is arguably the most wonderful night of a woman's Life - at least that's what I've heard. So why do I feel like I am about to enter a nightmare that I may not be able to wake up from?.

My name is Vespera Rivers, daughter of the once business mongul - Ramon Rivers and bride to Richard Cram. It is the night of my wedding and I have to change into my evening gown for the after party. Sitting in the room, right next to my dressing table, my best friend Miranda tries to convince me that it's not all that bad.

"Well it could have been worse, your Dad could have patched you up with one of his goons but here you are marrying a Multi-millionaire."

Said Miranda as she took a berry from the white bowl and stuffed it in her cherry lips. She looked like a fairy in her dark blue gown that splayed on the white floor of my bedroom. As she walked, ripples formed on the gown and flowed through like a river, the slit at the corner of her gown making it more alluring as it showed her milky skin. But that didn't stop me from scoffing;

"Of course he didn't, instead he sold me to the highest bidder and the Cram Family were more than happy to join in the deal."

"Oh come on, Richard isn't all that bad, compared to other rich and pampered kids that is, I hear that he doesn't even womanise." Said Miranda.

"Does not womanise, or can't?, even though I don't go out alot I know much of his escapades - after all I've been betrothed to him for months."

I replied as I signaled to her that I was ready. Miranda wasn't just here to calm me down, she was also my make-up artist for the wedding - and a great one at that.

"Oh woah, someone's been stalking. I know that look anywhere so spill it, tell me, tell me, tell me..." Said Miranda as she practically flew through the room, just to start poking my ribs.

"Stop it and focus on your work. To make me as beautiful as possible and stop me from jumping through the window to call the next cab out of here." I said as I tried to catch her naughty hands, but she was too slippery.

"Alright alright, fine. But still, I wanna hear what you found. Time is going so I'll let you go for now."

Miranda said as she picked up her set and started fixing my makeup. The wedding went so fast that it was all a blur in my mind. It was as if all this was just a formality, like something that was done on a whim just to satisfy the public and not because it was one of the most important moments of my Life. I sighed as I stared into the mirror, a stunning lady was looking back at me. I had black, luscious hair that flowed down to the small of my back. My sharp nose and full lips gave me a somewhat regal look, something I learnt from my years of walking with my father before his current situation. I blinked at the mirror, my brown eyes twinkling as I spoke;

"Richard is not a saint by choice, instead he can't just handle it. Apparently his little willy was too small to satisfy a maiden, so he decided to hide it and not tell anyone. He can't hide something like that if he's bedding any lady he sees, can he?".

Miranda was speechless for a while before she let out a soft scream, "How did you know that Vera? If that's true, how are you gonna cope?."

"How I know doesn't matter Miranda, this marriage is just a simple contract to ensure my company stays afloat, time is going and I have to go greet the guests".

I said as I stood up, my silver gown shimmering in the warm light. The gown was quite light yet it flowed like liquid silver wrapping my body tight enough to show my shape, yet reveal nothing more. A gift from my Mother and an apology of sorts.

Miranda stood in front of me as she scanned me for any last minute alterations.

"Ok, yeah. This is good, make-up perfect, check. Heels, top notch, check. Accessories, banging, check, gotta say, the ring really goes with the dress. Okayyy, you're good to go babe, let's go and wow the guests."

I looked down to check the diamond ring on my finger - my wedding ring, then just at Mira as she hooked her hand into my elbow and spoke my deepest thought at that moment;

"I feel like a sacrificial lamb going out to slaughter, and I miss my son"

"Oh you'll survive babe, just drink plenty of alcohol and it'll all go smoothly. Alcohol is the solution to everything and Andrea is having fun at home." Said Miranda as she quickly popped another cherry in her mouth. I spanked her pert butt as she spat out the cherry, before I dragged her out of the room.

Destination: Top of the private Yacht for the after party. To meet my husband and get over with this accursed day...
