"I hid my pregnancy from my husband and pretended I wasn't pregnant. But unexpectedly, one day I was cornered by him in the obstetrics and gynecology department. He looked down at my belly and said, 'Didn't you say you weren't pregnant? Then whose child is this, hmm?'"

Chapter 1

1

I have only two wishes in my life.

First, to marry Nathan Gordon, the famously wealthy and handsome man in Jasperville.

Second, Nathan would genuinely fall in love with me, and we'd have an incredibly sweet romance.

I'm not sure if the second wish will ever come true, but the very day I boldly set the first goal, I somehow ended up married to Nathan.

I still vividly remember the morning after that drunken night. Nathan opened his eyes slightly, gazed at me in astonishment, and asked, "Are you going to take responsibility for this?"

I admit I'm usually quite bold, but I never imagined I'd end up in Nathan Gordon's bed after getting drunk.

And then... I actually agreed to "take responsibility," becoming Mrs. Gordon.

Right after we registered our marriage, I went to a nearby pharmacy and bought a pregnancy test kit.

Back in Nathan's villa, staring at that single red line, I felt inexplicably relieved.

Exiting the bathroom nervously, I glanced at him.

Nathan sat on the sofa, expressionlessly looking at the pregnancy test stick on the coffee table, then stood up beside me and simply said, "As Mrs. Gordon, remember to behave."

There was no happy newlywed greeting from my husband, no sweet honeymoon.

Just a ring on the table, quietly reminding me I was married.

The sound of a car's engine turning off in the yard brought me back to reality.

The villa door opened, revealing the handsome man.

"Welcome home," I said.

Nathan tugged at his tie, momentarily surprised, before quickly regaining his calm.

He glanced at me sitting properly on the sofa in my modest home clothes.

"Mm, it's late."

Nathan always spoke succinctly, but I knew he was asking me why I stayed up late.

"I was about to. You should rest early too. Goodnight."

I swiftly ran to the bedroom, spotting the seductive lingerie lying quietly on the bed, waiting for me. Within moments, I'd already changed into it.

Seconds after I climbed under the covers, Nathan entered the bedroom and headed for the bathroom.

Soon after, the mattress dipped slightly as he lay beside me, mirroring how my heart had long since hopelessly sunk for him.

In the darkness, listening to his steady breathing, sleep eluded me despite my tiredness.

The lingerie felt uncomfortably tight, prompting me to turn away from him.

Marrying Nathan Gordon truly made me happy.

But that happiness didn't last long, as I soon realized Nathan didn't seem to love me.

Otherwise, how could we have gone an entire month married without any real intimacy?

As this depressing thought consumed me and I shifted again restlessly, Nathan suddenly pulled me firmly into his arms.

"Mrs. Gordon, can't sleep?"

Nathan was not only strikingly handsome but also had a voice that could captivate anyone.

Before I could react, his scent enveloped me completely, and his rough hand traced my back, making me acutely aware of his slightly moving Adam's apple.

"I didn't realize your modest pajamas hid such enticing intentions."

In the moonlight streaming through the window, Nathan observed his young wife wearing alluring black lace lingerie, my skin glowing softly against the dark fabric.

The faintly visible collarbone seemed like a silent invitation.

"In that case, it would be wrong to waste your thoughtful effort."

It was our first intimate moment after a month of marriage.

Not as wild as our drunken night, yet enough to make me blush.

Outside, the full moon quietly hung in the sky, witnessing a night filled with tenderness.

2

Looking at the torn lingerie on the floor, I instinctively hid my flushed face in the blanket.

Moments later, after steadying my breathing, I tossed the ruined clothes into the trash.

Sitting in a taxi afterward, rubbing my sore waist, I silently vowed never again to blindly trust sales ladies.

Nathan Gordon really had boundless energy!

The first time I saw Nathan was at a hospital event.

As the hospital's largest investor, Nathan had been invited to give the opening speech.

From the moment I saw him, I couldn't tear my eyes away, completely drawn to his charismatic aura.

That night, spurred by alcohol, I daringly snuck into his room and made my bold wish to marry him.

Unexpectedly, I succeeded the very next day-maybe happiness had come a bit too quickly.

"Tatiana, what's on your mind?"

Collin Gordon swaggered in, wearing sunglasses, drawing the attention of nearly every woman in the gynecology department.

I stared blankly for a second, marveling at how two brothers could be so vastly different.

One was a cool, distant prince, the other famously friendly-almost every woman in Jasperville knew Collin's charm.

"What brings you to gynecology?"

Collin instantly pouted dramatically.

"My brother should be the one getting checked-his mood swings toward me are as unpredictable as a woman's PMS!"

Recalling the embarrassing events from last night, my eyes shifted nervously.

"His mood seems perfectly stable to me..."

Collin's fox-like eyes narrowed mischievously, noticing the suspicious blush spreading on my neck.

"Tatiana, judging by last night, I'd say his mood was incredibly stable."

My face instantly heated up, making Collin laugh even more.

I shot him an annoyed look.

My phone rang at that moment.

"There's a family dinner tonight. I'll pick you up later," Nathan's voice was refreshingly calm, soothing my embarrassment.

"Okay, um, Collin's here with me."

After a short pause, Nathan ignored his brother's presence and asked softly, "Did I hurt you last night?"

I quickly denied it, hanging up amid Collin's teasing grin.

Collin laughed lightly, teased me some more, then left.

After completing surgery and changing out of my scrubs, I overheard some nurses excitedly gossiping.

"Nathan Gordon's married?"

"It doesn't make sense! Sure, he's wearing a ring, but there's been no official announcement."

"Girl, he's already in his thirties-it's normal to be married. Maybe he even has kids already!"

"But wow, this woman looks gorgeous-tall, perfect background, definitely a good match for Nathan."

My hands paused mid-wash as curiosity overwhelmed me.

I quickly reached my office to get my phone.

I checked it and saw the top trending news that the CEO of Gordon Group had romantic dinner with his girlfriend and there may be wedding bells soon.

Wedding bells my foot!

His actual wife was standing right here!

Entertainment journalists had quite an imagination- they should've become novelists instead of reporters, spinning those endless romantic tales.

Annoyed, I scrutinized the photo; Nathan maintained his distance, his bodyguards nearby, nothing intimate at all.

The Gordon Group was involved in entertainment, construction, hospitality-practically dominating the market.

Nathan had always maintained a spotless reputation, making this incident clearly deliberate.

A text message pulled me from my thoughts.

3

Nathan's Bentley waited discreetly near a bus stop behind the hospital.

Exiting from a side door, masked, with hideous oversized glasses and a cap, I quickly slipped into the car.

Nathan smiled faintly and drove off.

"A surgery came up."

"No questions for me?"

Nathan casually rested one hand on the steering wheel, sleeves rolled up, effortlessly stylish.

"If it was really an affair, you wouldn't be foolish enough to be photographed openly."

Clearly, I viewed this as an accident.

And if he wasn't concerned, why should I be?

Stopping at a red light, Nathan turned to look at me, seeing his Mrs. Gordon was clever but clearly a bit upset.

"Just a regular business dinner. Reporters love making something out of nothing."

See? Smart people know how to speak beautifully-making something out of nothing.

Later that night, the woman Nathan had dinner with clarified publicly, confirming their purely business relationship.

4

We arrived at Gordon's villa. Bianca Gordon, Nathan's mom, warmly greeted us.

"You're finally here! We've been waiting. Tatiana, wash your hands and let's eat."

I remembered meeting Nathan's parents after our marriage registration-far from the intimidating mother-in-law I'd imagined, Bianca warmly welcomed me with a precious family heirloom bracelet.

"Come, taste my cooking!" Bianca said enthusiastically, filling my plate.

The Gordon family was always warm and inviting. Sitting together at dinner with everyone chatting happily filled me with a comforting sense of belonging.

"Mm, this tastes amazing! Really delicious-I love it," I said enthusiastically.

Bianca beamed joyfully, delighted by my compliments, and encouraged everyone at the table to eat more. Except for Nathan.

"Mom, I think your specialty dish is older than me," Nathan casually remarked, leaning back with one arm draped over the back of my chair, effectively keeping me within his personal space.

His bluntness made me wonder if he was really related by blood.

Bianca shot him a deadly glare.

"If you can't say anything nice, don't speak at all. Even Orange has better table manners."

Orange was a pampered golden retriever kept by Harrison Gordon, Nathan's father.

The amazing golden fur obviously made him a VIP.

Hearing its name, the dog eagerly sat beside the table, hoping for treats.

I couldn't help but giggle. "Oh, Bianca, he's just joking. Your cooking is truly great-I can't even claim to have any cooking skills myself!"

Collin chuckled, chin resting lazily on his hand. "Nathan, you should learn from your wife. She knows exactly what to say."

My face flushed slightly at the praise.

Nathan glanced at me and remarked calmly, "I married a wife, not a housekeeper. You don't need to cook."

Bianca nodded, pleased by our affectionate exchange.

"By the way, you've been married for a month now. Why haven't you mentioned planning a wedding?"

The table instantly grew quiet.

Feeling awkward, I murmured softly, "I'm still learning at work, so maybe later..."

I nervously tugged at Nathan's sleeve.

"Yeah, I've been busy lately too. We'll discuss it another time," he replied causally.

"You're always busy! Even busier than the president! You'll regret it if your wife leaves you," Bianca retorted, rolling her eyes.

Unfazed, Nathan suddenly clasped my hand and turned to me.

"Are you thinking of running away after becoming Mrs. Gordon? Is my wealth not enough to keep you around?"

I was lost at words.

I glared playfully at him, withdrew my hand, and subtly stomped on his foot under the table before resuming my meal.

Nathan briefly eyed his foot and smirked.

His wife seemed pretty wild.

5

After dinner, Collin pulled me aside into the garden while Nathan and Harrison talked in the study.

"Tatiana, my angel, please help me out! Nathan listens to you," Collin pleaded.

"Why did he cut your credit cards and confiscate your car?" I asked.

"Because he's jealous!" Collin asserted dramatically.

I couldn't help but laugh internally.

Collin clearly overestimated himself.

His wealth wasn't even a fraction of Nathan's.

"Jealous of what? Looks? Nathan's more handsome. Wealth? Nathan's richer. Appeal to women?"

I paused thoughtfully, then teased, "Nathan still wins."

I chuckled, watching Collin stare at me in disbelief, clutching his chest as if deeply wounded.

"You two are both devils!"

In the study, Harrison spoke earnestly, "Nathan, are you still hung up on her?"

Nathan casually admired a painting.

"It's long over. Why dwell on it?"

"You never dated after the breakup. Isn't that proof you haven't moved on?" Harrison questioned.

"Dad, you're overthinking it. If I stayed single, it's because I hadn't found someone suitable yet. Besides, I'm married now and doing fine," Nathan replied calmly.

Harrison relaxed slightly but pressed further, "Then why haven't you mentioned a wedding yet? As a husband, shouldn't you take the initiative?"

Nathan's expression turned impatient.

He placed a book back on the shelf and prepared to leave, only to run directly into me outside the door.

"I wasn't eavesdropping! Bianca just asked me to bring fruit..." I stammered.

Nathan silently took the fruit from me, delivered it to the study, then led me downstairs.

I thought about Collin and ventured hesitantly, "Maybe don't cut Collin off completely? He's your brother. Family shouldn't stay mad forever."

Nathan halted, his eyes glittering curiously.

"Are you advocating for him?"

"Family should stick together," I said earnestly.

I was trying to persuade him, after all, Collin had been nagging in my ear for a long time, and I didn't want to continue listening to his nagging.

"Do you know what he did?" Nathan asked.

I shook my head.

Nathan leaned close, whispering softly, "He has wandering eyes."

I was shocked.

My indignation surged instantly.

"He deserves worse than a card freeze-ground him entirely!"

6

Driving home, silence filled the car.

Standing outside the study earlier, I'd overheard parts of their conversation.

Deep down, I understood someone like Nathan would have past relationships.

I'd been attracted by his charm initially, too.

But I never imagined that we would actually get married and that I would truly become Mrs. Gordon.

But my love was possessive-I couldn't bear my husband still holding feelings for another woman, especially an ex.

My doubts lingered heavily.

Had Nathan married me out of mere responsibility?

Lost in thought, I barely noticed we'd arrived home.

Just as I moved to leave, Nathan grabbed my hand, locking the doors.

"What is it?"

Nathan held my hand firmly, his gaze intense.

Unlike his usual demeanor, he seemed very serious in this moment.

"Choosing to marry you meant I was ready for commitment. I'm not interested in affairs. That's basic respect and loyalty to our marriage."

He continued sincerely, "When you appeared, I knew how you felt. My choice of you might be destiny, don't you think? Does that make sense to you?"

His deep, masculine voice sounded particularly captivating in the quiet of the night.

I swallowed hard, a bold thought suddenly flashing through my mind. Was he... confessing his feelings to me?

But wasn't a confession supposed to include phrases like "I like you" or "I love you"?

Why did it feel so different in my case?

No, no, this wasn't a confession. He was just explaining his reasoning to me.

My thoughts were a jumbled mess.

I lowered my head, gazing at the large hand gently enveloping mine.

"If your ex comes back, asking for reconciliation?" I asked nervously.

Nathan gently tousled my hair, smiling softly.

"Heard this before? Missing someone means they're already in the past."

Boldly, driven by alcohol, I asked, "What if it were me?"

The air around Nathan instantly grew heavy.

"If it were you..."

Nathan leaned dangerously close, trapping me against the seat.

"Then you'd better watch out-I might not play nice."

7

On my way to work the next day, my dad Sidney Simpson, gave me a call.

Not only did he ignore me for a long while, but he even blocked me from his phone.

Truly, his dramatic reaction was impressive.

I knew deep down he adored me, his precious daughter, and felt like his treasure had been stolen by a random guy, especially a guy who he never known before.

After a brief conversation, I hung up the phone, making a mental note to introduce Nathan to his father-in-law sometime soon.

When I reached my office, my colleagues were gathered, excitedly gossiping, each holding their phones displaying the same news.

"Oh my god, Nathan Gordon is truly a dream husband!"

"I thought someone from such a wealthy family might choose to keep his marriage quiet. Who knew he'd officially announce it like this!"

My hand paused mid-signature.

"What official announcement?" I asked curiously.

"Look! The Gordon Group just officially announced Nathan's marriage. They mentioned the ring on his finger as proof, saying he's happily married and hopes people will send their blessings..."

The colleague read the latest news.

I heard nothing after "marriage" and suddenly burst into laughter.

"Dr. Simpson, your dream husband just officially married someone else, and you're still laughing?"

I raised my finger, shaking it confidently.

"No, no. Even if he's married, he's still my dream husband!"

My colleagues knew I was a devoted fan of Nathan and had jokingly referred to him as my husband before, so they laughed it off.

But this time, he really was my husband-genuinely and officially.

When I returned home after work around nine, I found the house empty.

Collapsing onto the sofa, intending to rest briefly, I instantly fell asleep.

Meanwhile, in a bar's private room, Cary Wells watched Nathan, who was only drinking and repeatedly glancing at his phone, and teased internally.

"Looks like someone's under tight supervision by his wife."

Nathan shot him a glance.

"Speak quickly."

His tone was very impatient.

Cary grew increasingly curious about Nathan's wife, amazed at anyone who could unsettle Nathan this way.

After some hesitation, he finally spoke. "Scarlett's back in the country."

"And?" Nathan replied coldly, typing out a quick text.

"Do you still have feelings for her?"

Nathan lost his patience, pocketing his phone as he stood to leave.

"A breakup is a breakup. She's just another stranger now."

Scarlett Mills had chosen to study abroad, asking Nathan to wait a year, but Nathan had no interest in a long-distance relationship.

So they broke up.

After breaking up, rumors somehow spread that Nathan's father didn't approve. Anyone would start to imagine all sorts of things.

Cary didn't believe Nathan had truly moved on from Scarlett.

"If she hadn't gone abroad, would she be your wife now?" Cary persisted.

Nathan moved to leave.

"There's no point speculating."

Opening the door, they found Scarlett standing there, pale and evidently having overheard everything. Nathan's gaze swept over her and then he was about to leave by passing her.

"Congratulations on your marriage," she murmured.

Nathan barely acknowledged her.

Seeing him leaving, Scarlett grabbed his sleeve desperately. She looked up at him with tearful eyes and an extremely affectionate look.

"I'm sorry. I was wrong back then. Can't we try again?"

Nathan shook off her hand, his gaze icy.

"Miss Mills, you're forgetful. You just congratulated me on my marriage."

For the first time, he looked her in the eye, but his gaze was distant and unfamiliar.

Unwilling to give up, Scarlett tried again.

"I know you're still angry with me. If you hate me, it means you still love me. You don't love her. There's no real connection between you two. In the end..."

Nathan cut her off, his voice cold and sharp.

"Scarlett, we're adults. Marriage isn't a game. And to me, she's far more important than you ever were."

8

When Nathan finally arrived home, the living room lights were on, and I was sprawled awkwardly asleep on the sofa.

He changed his shoes, chuckled softly, and approached.

I woke abruptly, struggling to breathe, and opened my eyes to see Nathan's enlarged face hovering above me, his lips capturing mine.
