Chapter 1 An indecisive Marriage
" Your majesty , the meeting with the prince of Valkor went as planned although he seemed a little bit hesitant when we proposed marriage " Sr. Charles informed King Winfred who was deep in thoughts.
" My king !!! They called out jolting him from his though ... " I just analysed the situation on ground my lord " Sr. Charles said again while bowing slightly .
" What did he say about the proposition " The king asked while standing and moving around the court room .
" He didn't make any formal statement but I invited him formally to the ball party " The king turned sharply in his direction and he continued ... " ... I know I should have seeked for your permission first but there was no opportunity for that ... I'm sorry " He said finally and bowed .
" It's okay Charles ... someone had to take a decision and you did just that so... I'm pleased "
" Thank you my king ... you're so kind " Sr. Charles thanked the king and took his seat.
After series of discussions , the king dismissed the meeting with his advisers and royal judges as to meet with his wife (Lady Lina) . She wasn't so pleased with the news she received from the king .
With all the news from Valkor , only a ruthless mother will let her daughter get married to Kaidren , the prince of Valkor . He was rumoured to have stabbed his elder brother twelve times in his chest during the royal Valk war .
He was a war beast and rumors also had it that he was a demon ... Conquering and capturing women from different kingdoms , the royal province of Valkor was filled with concubines who ranged from the highly worshipped princesses and demure queens to lowly slaves .
Any time he returned from battle , he lay with his favourite concubine , Lady Lysandra . She was the lady after his heart and the most respected concubine in the female quarters . She called the shots in the famale quarters and made decisions regarding women .
She was also responsible for choosing and preparing ladies who laid with Kaidren . She is also deliberate with the affairs Kaidren made with women , the women he brought in , those he slept with and those who served him food .
To Lysandra , her position was everything to her , she was envied by hundreds of folks in the Female quaters ,those who fought to get noticed by Prince Kaidren and those who would do anything to ne where she was ... so her position was more political than being the Prince's favourite lady .
In the royal province of Valkor , it was unwise to be in Lady Lysandra's bad books . Such could lead to one's death or even being exiled . Rumors had it that she bewitched the Prince having come from Encantia , a kingdom known for her sorcery .
She had the largest number of servants both male and female . She also had a special quaters beautifully decorated to befit a lady of high status .
IN THE KINGDOM OF EVERSTON
It has always been bright in the kingdom of Everston , they were blessed with good climates so there was never a dull day in the kingdom ... every day seemed festive .
The news of the Prince's coming has been on everyone's lips as they wondered what he would look like . The ball party was also around the corner so every thing in Everston was busy, from the tiny ants to the mighty king .
The servants and slaves weren't left out , everyone was assigned different tasks to make sure that the kingdom was outstanding . The royal advicers , judges and knights met at the royal courtroom to discuss on welcoming the royal guest and to discuss the marriage at hand .
" This marriage is a political marriage so I and my Lady decided to give out our eldest daughter , Lucia to prince Kaidren of Valkor ." The entire room was stunned by this decision made by the king but no one rebelled against him .
" This is the best decision my king... An outstanding decision my lord... " They all said respectively afterwhich the meeting was brought to an end .
" The next meeting will be a day before the ball party " The king said before leaving the room . On getting to the door , he met Martha , a servant who was assigned the courtroom . She bowed before the king who didn't acknowledge of her presence .
She went into the room after everyone left to clean it but her mind was restless throughout the entire cleaning ... " My sweet Lucia will get married to that beast ... hell no " .
She thought of a way to tell Ceilia , Lucia's mom without hurting her but there was no way a mother will hear such thing about her daughter and not cringe . Especially for Ceilia who had just Lucia .
She decided to keep her mouth shut and watch as things unfold but that was more of a punishment since Ceilia was her best friend and confidant .
She could only pray that everything get better before the party else she couldn't imagine the life Lucia was going into ... " Martha , My Lady demands your presence !!!" Someone interupted her thoughts , she rushed to answer the call to avoid problems .
But unknown to her , she answered a call of doom as she was confronted with a thunderous slap when she stepped into the Lady's quaters .
" What were you doing outside the courtroom Martha ? " The lady asked in fury .
" I'm sorry my lady ... please pardon me my lady " Martha fell on her knees begging to be spared . Her trembling arms and feet were visible to everyone in the room at the moment .
" You're spared but whatever you heard in that room should be kept to yourself , if by chance I hear it from another ... " She was interrupted by her daughter who barged into the room like a toddler .
" Mum , what is going on here ? " Princess Sophia asked after scanning the room with her eyes . Lady Lina signaled Martha to leave the room which she did without a second thought .
She pulled her daughter into a warm embrace after which she admired her beautiful hairdo . " Nice hair sweetheart " she complimented while Sophia blushed .
" My princess has always been beautiful from the onset ,the hairdo was just to compliment her radiant beauty " Miss. Anna praised her .
Sophia always loved it when Anna showered her with praise ,it made her feel like the most beautiful women alive . Her mom was also aware of the charm Anna had on her daughter so she never stopped her when she tried praising her .
" Thank you Miss. Anna " Princess Sophia said and hopped out of the room wearing a radiant smile . Lady Lina looked at Anna in an attempt to thank her making her daughter happy but she was stopped in her tracks.
" You do not have to thank me my lady , princess Sophia has always been my duty from the day she was born ... It is an honour to make her smile like she just did " She said and bowed .
Lady Lina nodded and stood up to wear her makeup . " My lady what colour would you love to wear ? " Miss Anna asked as she brought out her box of makeup .
" I just want to glow differently Anna ... Just make me extremely beautiful "
Anna nodded and got into work , applying all the necessary foundations and colour to the Lady's face . When she was done , the lady was stunned with what she got .
" A..nna !!!" She exclaimed with a smile . " You did a great job " she commended and dressed up to meet the king .
