Chapter 1 One

Nyx's POV

THE STARWEAVER PACK.

I stared at the six feet deep grave I had dug. I had spent hours digging it, but I didn't care. I was weak, but the thought of whom I was about to bury kept me strong. This was arguably the best I've felt ever since I was born. A smirk escaped my lips as I shifted my gaze to the dead body, lying still. I closed my eyes and let myself relish the images of how he died. The way several claws dug into his body until he was lifeless. The struggle and fight he put up to it was bliss to my battered soul.

"Are you done digging, omega?" A voice asked, jerking me off my thoughts. The shovel I had used almost fell off my hands. Thankfully, it didn't, as that would have attracted more punishments for me.

"Yes, Luna." I bowed immediately. Luna Cara was one of the people that made my life horrible.

Being born by a traitor to the pack and also being birthed as a twain under the cursed moon was enough to have me killed. My mother, an omega, was killed. My twin sister was said to have died with her. Several times, I also wish I suffered the same fate.

Luna Cara got closer to me. She patted me on the back. That was a sign that I had done well, but I felt rather nervous and fearful.

"How about we throw you down there with Tristan?" She asked, sounding very amused. Fear gripped my whole being. I started shivering. Luna Cara was taking walks around me, enjoying every bit of my misery. "It would not be so evil to let you die with the traitor, Tristan."

"Forgive me, Luna." I begged, falling on my knees.

Tristan had sold valuable pack information to a rival pack. Harrison, the alpha of the pack, found out and had Tristan beaten to death by the pack. I took no part in it, but I enjoyed every part of it, because Tristan made my life worse than a living hell.

"There's nothing to forgive." Luna Cara said, bending over to meet me halfway. She released a very wicked laugh and even clapped her hands.

"You should really stop feeding off her fear." Alpha Harrison's thick voice shook me a little bit. He was always in support of his mate and if she truly wants me buried alive, it'd happen.

"See now terrified she is." She said, standing up to hug the alpha. The rest of the pack were behind him. "Blame me not for enjoying it."

They locked lips and made disgustingly loud sounds.

"Well, the daughter of a traitor should also suffer the same fate as her mother." Alpha Harrison said. I cowered in fear, shivering intensely. They always make threats but I'd never get used to them.

"Please, alpha." I begged.

"Just so you know," Luna Cara started, resting her leg on my knees, "you are not a member of this pack. You're a fucking slave."

"Yes, Luna." I fought the tears trying hard to escape my eyes.

Luna Cara laughed in an evil manner. She was having a lot of fun.

"Okay bae, that's enough." Alpha Harrison said, pulling his mate to his side. She kept giggling.

"I'm not sure if I enjoyed killing Tristan." Luna Cara giggled, "I was thinking I could make peace with the tempest in me by killing this one."

I had nothing to do with Tristan's murder. I only watched and imagined myself being the one in charge. It was exhilarating and scary at the same time.

"We will get rid of her, but not yet." Alpha Harrison muttered. "I have other plans for her."

Alpha Harrison pulled me to my feet by my hair. My head ached for a few seconds and my scalp burnt, but it was nothing I wasn't used to already.

"Well then, let's get to the burial nonsense." Luna Cara spat, sounding disgusted. "Traitors don't deserve burials, or what do you think, Nyx?"

"They don't, Luna." I responded. A drop of tears escaped my eyes. I could not wait for all these to be over with. It was getting unbearable already.

"Good." She giggled again.

We went on with the funeral. Anytime a member of the pack is killed by someone in the pack, there are ritual processions that must be observed to avert evil.

As the funeral went on, more tears escaped my eyes but I hid them well. Anyone seeing me cry would mean more punishments for me. I could not get punished any longer. I had tried to kill myself over the years, but nothing ever worked. Neither poison nor knives. I always came out alive.

I wish I had just died alongside my twain. I was far useless than any slave ever in every pack I had come across. I could not shift, neither could my healing abilities kick in. The only good thing I had , that had proven otherwise bad over time, was my weird inability to die. I might have already taken too much poison, that I had already become immune.

The funeral was over in a jiffy and the rituals were done. The pack went back inside and I followed behind, hoping that no one would decide to torture me again.

"Nyx!" Luna Cara called in a very prolonged manner.

"She would be the death of me." I muttered to myself before rushing to her presence.

"Luna?" I responded, bowing my head.

"Get me a glass of water." She ordered. I ran into the kitchen and got her what she desired. I felt dizzy from the living room all the way into the kitchen. I could feel life and consciousness, slipping out of me. I just have to give her this cup and get far away from her before whatever wants to happen would happen.

As I got closer to her, I could hear her shouting, but her words were unclear. I could see her lips moving and her veins straining, but I surprisingly couldn't heat anything.

I had almost gotten to her when my consciousness gave up on me. I fell to the ground, with her glass of water still in my hands. The glass broke as I fell and the water spilled out. Rather than having people surround me, I felt a kick to my stomach.

Even in my unconscious state, I knew I was done for.
