Getting into Harvard had always been Sophie Macs dream, and having that fulfilled felt like things were finally falling into place, but when Sophie starts to experience difficulty in school due to work and other extra activities which also made her fail the one important subject she knew she wasn't meant to fail, she's left with no other option than to look for a tutor what she isn't ready for is the emotions that comes with it together with the shocking surprise that comes after.

Chapter 1 Feeling Sad

The F with bold red ink stared at me.

I couldn't believe it. I felt my heart crushing, my hopes, everything.

Then I went blank. I didn't feel anything anymore, the fear and shock that had been on me like a parasite sucking me was gone. The cold sweat that had been pouring from me was gone.

The tears that had threatened to spill had also dried. I stared at my result slip once more, wondering what my next plan would be.

My grades weren't so good anymore, and I was certain my parents would be disappointed if they saw it.

I picked up my phone dialing my sister, the only person I felt comfortable with at the moment to still share my result slip with.

She picked at the last ring, just when I had thought she wasn't going to pick and I wasn't going to tell anybody about my script.

"Are you busy?"I asked as soon as I heard her pick up the call.

My elder sister, Cleopatra Macs, a talented architect who had graduated from the University of Harvard with a first class, had gone on to become a good architect and successful artist and was now pursuing her masters. She was always busy, and I would be lucky if she wasn't at this point.

Though at the same time I wouldn't mind, I wasn't sure I wanted her to know anymore.

"I failed my math exam," "the one I had been scared to fail." I didn't know why I felt the need to add that, though I could feel the dread descend upon me once more and could hear the disappointment in her breathing through the phone.

"I see," "Mom and Pops would be mad," "you just have to write it again," "It can be rewritten, right?". She said casually, like I didn't know my parents would be angry.

I hadn't been expecting her response, so I didn't know how to feel and respond to what she had just said.

I hadn't been expecting her to be angry, or maybe I had; I had just ruined the Macs reputation of having good grades only and was expecting a lecture or two, but she hadn't said anything. She hadn't acted shocked or disappointed, except for the slight breath of disappointment when I had first told her my plight.

"I am busy now, sweet girl," "would call you later when I am done.".

"Don't be too hard on yourself," "people fail; you wouldn't be the first." She added before ending the call.

I dropped my phone beside me, falling back on my bed to stare at my star-painted ceiling that I had done myself.

Lifting my hands to my face, I checked the time, standing up as fast as I could.

It was almost time for the lecture, and there was no missing any lecture this semester.

My eye landed on my open laptop, reminding me of the files I still needed to compile and send to Mr. Everest.

This was a contract that had been signed, half payment made, money which I had spent from, so there was no backing out now and no turning down the contract.

I quickly scanned through the files, hoping it would be something I could do with my phone. I wasn't having any course that required me bringing my personal laptop, so I didn't want to stress myself and take it along.

After making sure it was something I could, I quickly transferred it to my phone, grateful I had bought the phone after much contemplation.I was certain my other phone wouldn't have been able to do it, and I would have been left stranded and frustrated. I blew a light kiss to my phone, whispering a silent thank you after the files had been transferred, then I headed out of my lodge.

"I hope today would be a good day, or something good would happen at least," I said silently to myself.

"Stay right where you are." "I am coming to pick you.".

I smiled seeing the message from my boyfriend Leo.

How did he know I was just leaving my apartment? I checked the distance from my apartment to where I was standing, wondering if I should go back or sit on the bench that was calling me to wait for my boyfriend.

His bright reddish orange car pulled right beside me before I could make up my mind.

He stepped out of his vehicle, spotting a reddish orange jacket that complimented his hair colour and matched the car.

"Right where you are, babygirl," giving me a light peck on my lips as he spoke, embracing me at the same time.

I stared at his handsome, cute face, which had a dusting of freckles on it, smiling broadly.

"Come on, stop standing there",

"We would be late for lecture."

I nodded, stepping aside to go to the passenger side of the car, then getting in.

"Why orange?"

"Huh," he asked, turning to face me, turning the volume of the music that blasted through his speaker down.

"Why orange, what's the occasion?" I asked once more, referring to the car and his outfit for the day.

That was Leo; he chose the car he wanted to drive for the day and matched it with his outfit depending on his mood or the occasion for the day.

It wasn't all the time though, and sometimes he went to school looking plain and normal, but as I said, it depended on his mood and occasion.

"Nothing, sweetheart," I missed her, that's all, and I felt I would go with something that matched my hair today." Responding to my question while smiling at me with his perfectly aligned teeth.

"Okay," wondering if I should tell him I was resitting a course but decided against it, resting my head back on the chair, deciding to enjoy the rest of the ride without any conversation.

He had different cars which matched his hair, though not exactly the same shade, not all though, some were just normal colors like black, green and blue but he only drove those when something was wrong.

I didn't bring it up since I wasn't in the mood for a conversation

A light tap on my lap was the indication that we had finally reached. The drive from my apartment to the school wasn't much, but it was still quite a distance, one that had been enough to let me take a little nap.

I wasn't tired or anything; I just happen to love sleeping and fall asleep at every opportunity I get.

Sophia Macs....
